Lots of reasons for potential drinking this evening:
- Poggi anxieties?
- Derrick Green "gonna shock the world"
This evening I am going to enjoy "the official canned beer of Duty Free stores everywhere"
All the free beer you can drink in the Delta Sky Club. Many more reasons to be happy with a #1 bball squad than worried.
I didn't realize we had a pilot on the board.
Flattered. And by flattered, I mean flattered/creeped out/aroused.
I'm brimming with embarrassment. Was a little lickered up, have zero idea of what context that was meant.
Hell, maybe I do love you. Call me I guess?
One of my friends is a Bell's rep and introduced me to this a year or so ago. His honest opinion is that it's not a great beer, but one that is in such high demand due to its unique nature. It's more of a "freak show" beer -- his words, not mine. I like a small glass or so before moving on to other things, but I definitely could not drink that all night long.
Your Bell's rep is completely crazy. Hopslam is not just a great beer, I'd say it is widely respected as one of the best double IPAs out there. For those of us obsessed with IPAs, Hopslam is incredible, not just some rare beer that is released once a year.
Having a Hopslam now. It's the greatest thing on earth except better than that actually.
He likes it. And a lot. But he thinks it's a very good beer -- not great. He might be speaking from personal taste more than anything else. Anyway, he introduced it to me because he knew I really, really enjoyed the hoppy beers...and it don't get much hoppier than this!
I guess you've never been broke enough the drink this. They sell it in Wisconsin, something like 7 dollars for a 30 case.
I have heard rumors of generic beer, but I didn't think they existed. It's the Big Foot of beer drinking. Have you actually had one? Please tell me they taste as bad as I imagine. I so want one.
My Dad has this random cousin way up in Eagle River, we go every year to go hang out on this giant redneck raft that they build. They drink Beer, and Beer Light.
The major area grocery chain, Kroger, many years ago, used to have its own brand designated with bright yellow packaging, and the name of the product displayed in big, black letters. So, their "beer" was literally a yellow can, with "BEER" stamped in huge letters on it. And that's it. Same with their multitude of other products.
They've since made their own brand much more appealing to the eye, but I have to admit...I kinda miss those generic yellow products. I'd scoop up that generic beer immediately if I ever saw it again.
They have Beer Light too? Now I have to drive to Wisconsin and buy a case of Beer and Beer Light.
Gotta love beer so awful it's good.
If it was a purely economic decision I'd go to WalMart for 30 of these:
You're gonna get Gibbons in trouble.
I have family visiting from Michigan. We'll be going to an upscale restaurant in about 15 and since I just purchased a Tigers cap I'll be wearing that with jeans and my Nikes while everyone else wears dresses and suits. I march to the beat of my own drum, yo. I don't drink so I guess I'll be having water.
Harpoon IPA. Ever since i tried to articulate why i didn't like IPA's, i realized I actually like them. I think IPAs can taste like grapefruit.
Girlfriend is drinking Chimay, and yes she's real.
Harpoon IPA is one of my favorite beers. I'm the same way, I basically all-of-a-sudden started drinking IPAs and now I love them.
Sacred Cow IPA from Arbor Brewing Company for me tonight.
Harpoon is pretty solid, I'm staffed out in boston during the week, so got some exposure to it that way. Cheers
I was never big on IPAs, but when Lagunitas announced they would open a brewery in Chicago, I decided to check out their beer. Guy at Binny's recommended their IPA and I decided I like it. Since then, I've enjoyed Harpoon, Racer 5, and many others. Scored me some Hopslam last week, so tonight is a choice between Hopslam, Racer 5, or Two Hearted. Choices, choices, choices....
Also, I'd like to thank the MGoCommunity for all the beer recommendations on the blog. I've tried many beers mentioned in these drinking threads. Founders Dirty Bastard turned out to be a great recommendation. So many beers, so little time. However, I don't think I'm going out of my way to find generic beer in Wisconsin.
Jack & Coke. Wife is out of town and Ill be watching the 2 boys.
Tequila shooters - Wife is out of town and I'll be watching the 2 boys
but not for another couple hours.
WHATEVER I WANT!!!
Vodka and Monster, followed by the triple hops brewed Miller Lite.
Sippin' it straight...
I hear that.
Corona, 'cause that's what's in the apartment and there's no way I'm going to the store tonight.
A nice local (Cincinnati) beer...
Playing a little Walking Dead on PS3 tonight -- does anyone else have this game? The story is fairly engrossing, to say the least.
...and it sure seems to me that the replay value is fairly high, too. I'm already wanting to rewind and try different responses & actions already. I'm not going to spoil for anyone, but I'm just in episode 2, at the "dinner scene." Yeah...
I'm really hugging the fence a lot on my first playthrough. I already want to go back and just be definitive and bad ass. At least I speared one of the St. John brothers. ;-)
Haven't tried the winter but I love their blonde and their amber. IPA is solid too.
Ever had Rivertown (anything)? Also, a Cincy-area brewery. Not a bad selection there, either.
So, yeah, I've had some Rivertown. Pretty solid stuff. I like their Helles and their Hopbomber. I thought the Roebling Porter was good, and I had one that I thought was terrible. Maybe the WIt? Can't remember. Definitely like the Mt. Carmel offerings better than Rivertown, though.
There, I said it. Someone pass me something that will help me not remember anything in the morning.
Trios Pistoles Ale from Unibroue
I just opened a bottle of 1968 j&b scotch that my buddy gave me. I also have some hopslam and goose island Matilda.
Finished the last Founders Centential IPA from the six pack I got. Will probably run down to Stadium Market to go beer shopping in a bit.
Best liquor store in town. And only 2 doors down from my house.
Best by far. Also dont forget about their pizza and strombolis...delicious
Just moved in about a block down the street from them. Great beer and liquor selection and I have heard great things about their pizza and deli sandwhiches.
and Pepsi Max.
Pepsi Max and Coke Zero just dont do it for me. Got to go with TaB Cola for the regular taste and zero calories
at The Fort.
So I've been going hard since 4pm. Started easy with some Yuengling, progressed to La Roja and two hearted before some Pinot noir with dinner. Now on to a bottle of biere de garde from the lips of faith series. Got to love New Belgium in Michigan. Best hangover cure and bday present will be a Hello post from Derrick Green in the morning. Go blue!!
Someone get this man a Kate Upton GIF!!!! I'm on my iPhone or else I would have done it already
So after the whole Te'o scandal, I thought about the next frontier of recruiting. It's clearly "Auxillary Fake Girlfriends." or AFGs.
An AFG can be sort of like a bank account - a really hot bank account. You have a sugar daddy, i.e. booster, wire money to the AFG. The AFG can then give cash, gifts, sexual favors, etc. to heavily recruited athletes to whom they are paired up with - apparently it's not an NCAA violation if a girlfriend or family gives you benefits. Voila - baby, you've got a pipeline goin'.
Maybe it's just the MaryJane talking but I think this system is guaranteed to be the next great recrutiing frontier - that is, if Ole Miss hasn't employed the strategy already.
Was rather unnecessary
...Says YakAttack in the thread about relaying what mind altering substances you're consuming.
Had I exhibited drunken tendencies. Your "idea" was clearly enhanced by the reefer. Nothing wrong with it, but your rambling craziness had weed written all over it, man.
I'm gonna be honest: I basically tl;dr'd your post until I saw (what I thought to be) an homage to Carl Weathers. +1.
Revolution anti-hero whilst waiting for curtain of The Motherf**ker With The Hat at Steppenwolf.
Stone Ruination. Have a four pack in the garage.
Also have some Dogfishhead 90 Minute IPA..
Warming up with some cider tonight after shoveling the driveway:
Sadly I'm working all night. Tomorrow is scotch night, I'll participate in tomorrow's drinking thread!
Tonight I'm going Rye.
Bells Smitten Golden Rye
Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye
Founder's Red's Rye
Boulevard Rye on Rye
Then if I'm still awake I'll toss in an Oarsman Ale to wet my mouth up.
Tomorrow is all about me and my four pack of Black Note.
How the crap did you score a four pack of black note?!
Watching parenthood, and not ashamed
Atwater's VJ Black Imperial Stout.
Later probably Jack and TaB Cola
On the rocks. Work sucked today. At least the Wings are winning.
heart of Darkness. A very tasty stout.
I love these threads. I never fail to find a beer to add to my "have to try" list.
Try Atwater Brewery's VJ Black Imperial Stout if you are a fan of stouts. One of the best Ive had. Drinks like a 6% but is actually 11%
Yep, one more for the list!
A delicious glass of Sailor Jerry's tonight.
3 hopslams. I am slammed. Thrice.
Lovin me some Ypsi Corner brewery beer.
Yes I know it's Ann Arbor brewery beer but it taste different = better at the brewery in Ypsi.
2005 marcassin three sister's chardonnay. Thank you Helen Turley.
I've been on their mailing list since 2005!!! Everything in 2007 is amazing. Do you live in CA?
I was there a few nights ago. That is a damn fine place.
Porter by Brasseurs du monde in St Hyacinthe.
Unreal, brilliant. Love me a fine porter, all too rare.
Hmm...gonna open another bottle after all. Kids asleep...
... watching the Couric-Te'O interview on 20/20, so I'm drinking Kool-Aid and Hemlock, neat.
Yuengling Black & Tan
Yuengling Black & Tan
New Holland Dragon's Milk.
Looking for a place to buy hopslam closer to the indiana border. Would Meijer carry it by chance?
Good question. Some Meijer locations are great for beer (see: Cascade Meijer in GR) while others are just decent. I would imagine they would have it, as I have even seen it at Family Fare locations. It's worth a shot!
I love me some Meijer
a) I can get the beer I am looking for (along with the requisite snacks)
b) I can get my Meijerverine working with new Michigan gear
Naked Pig pale ale.
as well as a decent Malbec and good bourbon. Yes. triple-fisting. And a buddy of mine wants to meet down the street in a 1/2 hour for a nightcap.
You do not wanna be me tomorrow morning, taking the boy to basketball practice.
So, I have always been a bit out of the loop when it comes to classic movies so I've decided to catch up. I just watched Reservior Dogs while enjoying a Founders Breakfast Stout, and there is still some Centennial and Hopslam in the fridge.
Needless to say, I think I'm going to watch another movie and drink because America.
I just watched Chinatown last week and it was amazing. I highly suggest it.
My roomate just bought reservoir dogs on Bluray and I am excited to watch it, even though I have watched it countless times.
Bought the last Hopslam case at a Binny's in Chicago so I cracked one tonight. Then I made myself a brandy old-fashioned. Then, an Absolut Acai and Squirt.
burnetts (cheap shit)
Drinking makers and playing N64. Can't beat that
