My brother Jim and I are both responsible, mature, reasonably intelligent grown men. But when we get together, we regress into two 16-year-olds trying to crack the other one up, especially when the circumstances aren't appropriate.
Example: during the overly-long funeral mass of an elderly uncle last spring, Jim leans over and whispers in my ear that ancient joke, "Confucious say, He who farts in church sits alone in his own pew."
OK, it's not that funny, but when you can't laugh, it turns hilarious. And I sat there, trying to suppress my laughter with my teeth clenched and face turning red, and thought, "The little shit got me again."
The reason for this story? It's his birthday today. So Happy Birthday to the best kid brother anyone could have. Love you, Jimmer - and I owe you one.
