Friday Bowl Games

Submitted by Avant's Hands on
Bowl games are already starting today. I didn't see a thread so I thought I would start one. The Military Bowl is first up. The M.A.S.H. Unit that is Maryland is down 7-14 to Marshall in the first. Maryland had atrocious field position on most of their drives but isn't playing stellar defense either. If they can avoid another string of injuries I don't see why they can't finish fourth in the division next year.

when he 1st went to Maryland. Thought he'd get a "better" job at the time. Now that he's in the B1G and our half, he'll get to show what he's got. I do think he's a good coach, given what he did for UConn.

Hopefully, Lions take O'Brien from PSU and Brady proves this year was a "mulligan" year for his coaching staff. We won't have many easy coaching match-ups in our half of the B1G.

Ugh. I am more and more impressed with Maryland and Rutgers everyday! So glad to have them in the Big Ten. Maryland loses to a Conference USA team and Rutgers is managing to implode everything in their athletic department in less than a year. Thanks Jim! You're a real smart guy.

If anyone is interested at all, Maryland gave up 475 yards to Marshall across 79 plays, so the average was just a little over 6 yards per snap. Of that total, 337 yards of this was in the air. Interestingly, this means Marshall managed 0.392 points per play, so this was actually only marginally worse than the average Maryland defensive performance. Makes you wonder what they could be in the Big Ten, no? No? Anyone?

Minnesota is not looking too good right now. I was finally able to find a stream of the game that I could get on, but it's not looking too good for them right now.

Minnesota takes the lead 17-14 after the two point conversion. The passing game is doing it for them. It would be great for the big ten to start off with a win. Got to play defense now.

2 point play?  They ran the same play before and after the false start penalty.  I have it from reliable sources that doing it is a sign of poor coaching.

I was just typing a comment about how Minnesota needs to keep them out of field goal range in order to get a bowl victory and a 9 win season when they decided to give up a huge punt return... Wow!!
