Friday boozing thread
I got home a little bit ago, grabbed three Octoberfests, and poured them in my giant stein. Fuck it! I'm staring early. I also threw Denard '14 in the 360 and continued my dynasty. Let's go.
EDIT: I originally posted this as a diary. I'm sorry. Thank you, acnumber1.

That works for me............gotta pour a few now.........it's 5:00 in Ann Arbor anyway.
Get the lliver in shape for tomorrow's game.
Go Blue!

Have a New Belgium Pumpkick for now. Kinda meh. Not impressed. I'll get something better with dinner and I have a few Two Hearteds for later this evening. Getting ready to see an old-fashioned blow out tomorrow. The starters will play the first half and a series or two in the second and then it's all new player names from there. That would be very un-Hokeian and get some valuable experience for the bench. We'll need some of those guys eventually. It's a long season.

"it's a long season"
Ya know, I say that every September, but then come the OSU game, I'm saying, "where the hell did the season go?" It's always over just like that and Christmas is here before we know it.

The best pumpkin in Colorado is Bristol's Venetucci pumpkin ale.

Gin and tonic before starting dinner and moving to sav blanc. Probably will open a Pinot after that

LOL. Hey, you have nice weather all the time. Well, assuming you live in California.
September 18th, 2015 at 8:17 PM ^
Yeah but no water, earth quakes, fires, etc. in CA. So it evens out

some of that Bell's 30th Anniversary Stout.
September 18th, 2015 at 7:04 PM ^
Thanks for the reminder--I need to find some of that. Betting Wine Seller has it if you're in Ann Arbor.
September 18th, 2015 at 8:24 PM ^
I stumbled upon a sixer of it randomly when stopping at Meier in Kalamazoo last weekend on the way through town. Am planning to age it for a while as I've heard it is brewed for that. Can't wait to try it.

We'll run with this one - a drinking diary would be interesting, but probably something for the middle of June when there's baseball and some NBA draft talk.
This probably saves someone the chore of a separate drinking thread later on anyway, at least if your plan is to watch, say, Idaho State attempt football against Boise State, or New Mexico do whatever it is New Mexico does against Arizona State.

I'm a football junkie and will definitely be watching some college ball tonight.
For those wondering, I live in the states now, so I am finally on the regular TV schedule. I love Australia, but it's nice to be on the normal schedule to watch football.

I have a pile of season tickets right now, but it will be a much shorter stack in October and I'll want to savor the games in November. Harbaugh!
OOPS...meant to reply to Mr. Sydney.

Will be thoroughly enjoying my stockpile of Oberon here in NorCal to celebrate my likely return to UM. Started my PhD here a year ago, but absolutely hate my current institution (to be left unnamed), and UM is directly readmitting me to transfer in January without losing too much time on my degree. Found this out a few days ago, and it's a fantastic feeling.

Congrats to you, it would be ironic if you were at Stanford - ala Harbaugh. What field of study?
September 18th, 2015 at 6:57 PM ^
I'll keep you wondering as to the irony of it all. My degree is in the Biomedical Sciences.

You mean Samford?
September 18th, 2015 at 10:04 PM ^
NO, it is Sanford, founded by that great industrialist, Fred G. Sanford, the G. stands for generous.
September 18th, 2015 at 8:01 PM ^
Study at Michigan, work at Cal. That was my path. . .
And care to share some of that Oberon?
September 18th, 2015 at 8:03 PM ^
Ha, you'll have to make your way a tad south...
September 18th, 2015 at 8:09 PM ^
And not in the weird way. Geographically of course.
September 18th, 2015 at 8:11 PM ^
The east bay is pretty OK, but I rarely schlep down to the south bay. I have found it to be hot, suburban, and expensive. I might make my way down on November 21, however, for the axe. I think the bears have a pretty good chance this year.
September 18th, 2015 at 8:14 PM ^
Agreed, Stanford's offense makes Borges' operation look genious. Defense lost a lot of starters too. With Cal's experience, it should be a good game.

THAT'S what I'm talkin' about. Congrats!

To celebrate the weekend's arrival, I am grilling porterhouse steaks on the BBQ tonight. Going to have that with some Cabernet.
To top it off, my wife just texted me that she baked an apple pie for us.
September 18th, 2015 at 7:31 PM ^
Nice work. Although I prefer many other cuts of steak before a porterhouse, I would still eat a porterhouse. I actually cooked some BBQ chicken and pork chops for the family.

Buffalo Trace and Snapple peach tea. Then going to watch Bedford vs. Saline. Any Michigan recruits on Saline? My daughter said their QB is good. I told her, "He must not be that good Harbaugh is not looking at him." Then I looked him up and he is Fed Jackson's son. Lol.
