Freshman class roster
The rest (non-early enrollees) of the incoming freshman class is checking in today. Here is the complete freshman roster including preferred walk-ons:
1) John Andrysiak LB (Michigan)
2) Brian Cole WR (Michigan)
3) William Coleman DT (Michigan)
4) Andrew David K (Ohio)
5) Jack Dunaway DE (Michigan)
6) Zach Gentry QB (New Mexico)
7) Jordan Glasgow DB/RB (Illinois)
8) Kevin Gross RB (Michigan)
9) Karan Higdon RB (Florida)
10) Shelton Johnson DE (Florida)
11) Reuben Jones DE (Florida)
12) Tyree Kinnel DB (Ohio)
13) Alex Malzone QB (Michigan)
14) Grant Newsome OL (New Jersey)
15) Jameson Offerdahl LB (Florida)
16) Grant Perry WR (Michigan)
17) Cheyenn Robertson DE/OLB (New Jersey)
18) Jon Runyan, Jr. OL (Pennsylvania)
19) Christopher Terech LB (Michigan)
20) Ryan Tice K/P (Michigan)
21) Nolan Ulizio OL (Ohio)
22) Keith Washington ATH/DB (Alabama)
23) Tyrone Wheatley, Jr. TE/DE (New York)
24) Tommy Whitted LB (Florida)
14 of them plus 10 walk-ons and a few transfers.
The preferred walk ons can't be listed on the roster until some point during the middle of the season which is just strange.
Sigh. I keep hitting F5 refreshing to see if the new jersey numbers are in yet so I can make some updates.
Also, all the incoming transfers are enrolled and here.
But if I get any jersey numbers I will let you know.
It's a rule to prevent Saban from packing his classes with walk-ons then being like "Oh, YOU earn a scholarship" to all of them on August 30 to avoid class limits.
A walk-on cannot take an official visit to the school, and cannot officially join the team until later in the season. The point is to cut out some of the gray area between scholarship players and walk-ons (grayshirts, blueshirts, etc.) It doesn't.
Glasgow Rules!
As a bronco grad, awesome to see John's son in the class. He was a beast at WMU and a great linebacker for the Dolphins.
Interesting he walked on at M, I am sure he could have gone somewhere else.
That name jumped out at me too. I was going to ask if there was any relation to John, but you've already obviously answered that. Pretty cool! I always used him for defense when I was the Dolphins on Tecmo Super Bowl...
I was not friends with John, but met him a couple of times. Coming from WMU it was rare to have SI do an article on one of our players.
I believe he made a lot of money starting a bagel compnay in FL which later became part of Einstein bagels.
But this makes two Bronco sons from my era at WMU. I am pretty sure Sypniewski and Offerdahl crossed paths at WMU. Scott was closer to my age.
Sorry to hijack the board with Bronco trivia.
When we do this next year with the 38 scholarship player + 49 walkons + 18 QBs just for the hell of it we might need to give older scholarship players triple digit #s.

- In which parking lot will Keith Washington be running 40-yard wind sprints?
- When will it be happening?
- Will you be timing him?
- Will you be videotaping him?
- If he really runs the 40 in 4.3 seconds, will you provide the video evidence to MGoBlog?
I just read that Tommy Whitted was averaging 12 tackles per game for a bit. And Chris Hayes from the Orlando Sentinel said his lack of offers are "a good example of the baffling recruiting process."
He did have an offer from the US Air Force Academy (they wanted him to do a year at their prep school), preferred walk-on offers from Florida and Florida State (FSU just called him two weeks ago asking if he was solid to Michigan), and several scholarship offers from FCS programs.
He is a Rivals 2 star, but for various reasons he completely stayed under the radar.

They're added when school starts
Between Whitted, Terech, Robertson, Offerdahl, Dunaway and Andrysiak 2 or 3 could end up playing meaningful snaps on Defense.
Rare that you could look forward to that possibility with non scholarship players.
Welcome and enjoy!
