Freep predicting a Michigan Win

Submitted by StephenRKass on

The Freep is predicting a Michigan win over MSU tomorrow. Here are their picks, for those of you who won't give the Freep clicks:

  • 65 - 60 Rexrode
  • 65 - 63 Snyder
  • 72 - 71 Seidel
  • 64 - 68 The douche columnist who shall not be named. Ever the contrarian, he still has MSU winning.

Somoene off the bench will have a huge game for State, likely Kaminski (though I suppose he's technically a starter then).  While he's only made 8 FGs from inside the arc, he's shooting the 3 at 55% success I believe.  He's probably going to be able to get to ~15 points on that.

Dawson wasn't particularly great, in fact I think he's been a relative underachiever for the hype and expectations around him, but you have to think that without Payne and Dawson Michigan does get significant help in the rebounding department.

While Dawson may not be explosive offensively, he was one of their best offensive rebounders, and the reason Payne was able to float around more (though I realize this is moot if Payne sits anyway).  If both sit, they lose their two best bigs, a lot of rebounding and a fair amount of offense.

I agree someone will step up to fill some of the void, but you won't get the same amount of efficiency from their backups as what Payne and Dawson would provide.

What i dont get about he who shall not be named is why anyone with a University of Michigan affiliation would EVER buy an ad in the Freep.  The only way newspapers stay in existance is through shrinking advertising dollars and if I was in charge of a company placing ads I would tell the Freep they won't get a dollar from me as long as they employ someone whose life mission is to destroy something I care about.

Here in Cleveland there is a very popular writer named Tony Grossi who covered the Browns for the Cleveland Plain Dealer.  A couple of years ago he tweeted some pretty negative stuff about the Browns owner at the time Randy Lerner.  The Browns immediately contacted the Cleveland Plain Dealer and told them they were pulling all ads until we was fired.

He was fired the next day.

If somebody in Michigan would grow a pair and take a stand Mr "I hate Michigan and all it stands for" would be in the unemployment line by dinner.

I would certainly think so.  And I would think at least SOME of the Big 3 executives came from Michigan and would have a problem with his anti-Michigan shtick.  Like I said - it took less than 24 hours for the Browns to get Grossi smoked (and he was very popular amoung readers) just by threating to pull advert dollars till he was gone.

Why nobody in Michigan has taken a stand a said "that's enough" is beyond me.

Completely agree (on ignoring Sharp.) There just is no reason to read Sharp and get irritated. I was curious about their game predictions, and only mentioned him because he gave a prediction. But Sharp being there is a little bit like going to a party where another party attender is a jerk you don't care for. You either choose to skip the party, or ignore and avoid the jerk while at the party. On rare occasions, you still see or interact with said jerk.
