FREE: VIP Subscription to 247sports (thru end of 2013)

Submitted by timtebro on

Come one, come all! Our friend, Tremendous, has informed the public that a subscription to all VIP content on the Michigan 247sports website is now free through the end of the year (12/31/2013). Helluva deal if I say so myself.

Here's the link

Note: credit card information is needed; however the subsciption can be cancelled without charge before 1/1/2014.

I was considering it before the offer.  Seems like a no-brainer now unless I'm missing something in the fine print.

Great deal.  I'm in.  Already used it to read that article on Adoree Jackson.

Pretty smart move on their part also.  They are luring you in to show off their great content, then you get used to it, then it is over in January before Signing Day.

All it takes is a coupla dummies to forget to cancel their subsrciption (6 months from now, no less) for this to pay off financially for them.  Kudos.

Good idea to try and get people over there. I'm already a member, but the Michigan board can get pretty dead sometimes and I wish more people would make their way over there.

Makes me appreciate MGoBlog more and more everytime I see former free M bloggers hidden behind paywalls. That's not intended to be a dig against guys like TomVH, Tim, or the guys at Tremendous who are all awesome. We've just had a lot of fantastic M content on the recruiting front that got scooped up over time. Thankful MGoBlog is still gloriously free (with beveled guilt)

I don't have a Scout or Rivals membership, but can their members cancel their subscription for a prorated portion of their money back?  If so, this could really sting Balas and Beaver where it hurts!

The board reminds me a bit of RCMB. Not in content, but in the number of animated smileys and the excessive use of pictures in signature lines. I prefer the look over here

there are a bunch of chicks and smileys in people's sigs. It's kind of annoying and NSFW, even though you are just reading football news.

Also, they seem heavily recruiting focused, which is fine, but I like the vibe here more.

That said, it's free for the next 6 months, so...

Can somebody explain the logic of putting hot chicks in your signature on sites like that?  I am aware that beautiful women exist, and if I want to see them wearing next to nothing (or even less more realistically) I know where to find them.  Is this a macho testosterone thing?

Naturally, this phenomenon is way worse on SEC boards.  Go figure.

I realize you have to cancel it before the trial end in order to not be charged, but does anyone know if it is easy to cancel?  Can you do it through the website or do you have to call and cancel?

If they want to make people visit Wolverine247, subscribe and go on the boards more often, they need to make Brian an "offer he can't refuse".

From what I understand, 247 did that with sites like Bucknuts and spartan tailgate.

Hope it never happens, but It would be the greatest move in the history of recruiting sites if they could snag this site.

Is doing this really worth it? I'm just curious because I've never subscribed to any recruiting websites, and I'm wondering if its worth signing up if the same info is going to appear on MGoBlog 30 mins later. Or is the info just a lot better for subscribers?

That, and I think I'd end up being one of those guys that forgets to cancel his subscription before Jan. 1st.

Contrary to whats often posted on here, the same info does not get posted within 30 minutes.

For stuff like visits, and summaries of visit reactions, sure, but overall a lot of stuff doesn't leak out here. Not anything big or grounding, but lots of little tidbits that are interesting don't ever get talked about on here.

I signed up for a free trial last month and when I went to cancel they gave me another free month, and a lot of VIP stuff  that I've read on there haven't come up over here.

Pay sites aren't necessarily meant to break the news of a committ faster than "free" sites as that's what twitter and mgoblog is for.  They are more delivering the background of what is going behind the scenes, and the analysts like The Beaver, Tom VH, Tremendous, ect deliver their "expert" predictions on where they think a recruit is leaning towards and a time-range of when they may make a decision.

I broke down and got it.  So far I've liked what I've seen.  I definitely prefer MGoBlog's board and a lot of their content, but for recruiting information, it's a great source to have.
