The Detroit Lions just posted on twitter that free tickets will be available to the general public starting at 10:00am Saturday for the Monday night game that starts at 7:00pm at Ford Field. You can get them on their website according to the information.

Something like this would be a good opportunity for me to take my 4 year old son to his first football game, and if he is bored we can simply leave.  Then I remembered the last NFL game I went to.  Maybe I'll wait until next fall and catch a college game...

If you're worried about the drunken histrionics that you see at many NFL games, remember that 95% of the fans in attendance Monday night could give less than 1% of a shit about who wins this battle of AFC weaklings.

By my calculation /pulls out abacus/ there is a solid 80% chance this game will be as tame as most college football games.

Of course, that leaves a 20% chance that you'll be sitting next to this lass (or her equivalent) for the game:

There are so many commercials that going to the game can be a drag. When you're at home it's not that bad since you can get up and quickly use your own bathroom, grab more (inexpensive) snacks, make yourself another drink, etc. But you're kinda trapped at the game. Just not worth it any more.

Ford Field is a great place to watch a Lions or NFL game.  And, the crowd is usually pretty good.  I wish I could attend . . . Should be fun.  And, that's a great, cheap way to watch a pro game.
