Free Press Headline "Major Violations"

Submitted by SpreadGuru on
So I just clicked over to the Freep (the death rag) and their headline is "UM made 5 major rules violations." That's not what I have read anywhere else at all. So let's cut to the shit: 1. Freep, Dolphin-puncher Rosenberg, Sharp - stop patting yourselves on the back. You didn't get it right. 2. Freep editors - That headlines been written for months. 3. UM's problems came down to periods of stretching and interpretations of that rule. 4. Let UM answer it and we will be fine.

Wow, you are a fucking retard. I hope you are not an alumni. Your reading comprehension would make Rainman look like fucking Isaac Newton. It says potential major violations. The NCAA position is every violation, secondary and primary violations are major violation until the hearing concludes. Don't believe me read the report from Ohio State's annual laundry list of violation. It states right there in their report, every violation is a major violation. This stature basically just gives the NCAA power to reduce the severity of violations to secondary violations. Secondly, this is about the Freep. The Freep stated we went way over the allowed hours. When the investigation concluded, it found we only went over by 20-30 minutes a few times over an entire season. God forbid. This is about the Freep, realizing their readership is a bunch of tin foil hat old guard RR hating bastards or sparties and running with a poorly researched project to increase readership. Anyone with an IQ above 40 could see right through Paul Anger's motives for allowing Rosendouche to run with his hatchet job.

"Thanks, local media, for letting us run our programs without interference and not causing massive distractions through baseless accusations and wasteful investigations." Signed, USC, Texas, Alabama, Florida, ND, Ohio State, LSU, and Oklahoma

The Headline: "NCAA: U-M football made 5 major rule violations" The first sentence: "The NCAA has issued a notice of allegations to the University of Michigan alleging five major violations in its football program." Seems there is a big, unsubstantiated, agenda-motivated jump from "issued a notice of allegations" to "made 5 major rule violations." Speaking of QC, does the freep have any? Anybody reading this for what it says rather than for what they want to hear should spot the idiocy in this article.

I doubt anyone expected anything less than that type of headline. The Freep has absolutely not incentive to publish something like "NCAA reports potential minor violations; unlikely to lead to major sanctions." They made their bed when they let Rosenberg run with his half-cocked story, and so they are going to go down in flames with him when this turns out to be much ado about nothing.

The Freep now has an actual legit/understandable motive for wanting the violations to be as severe as possible...it is their "reputation" on the line. As such, I'd think it appropriate for the Freep to sit back and let the process play out. It would essentially be impossible for them to report objectively.

more importantly, the Freep is a business that needs to make money to survive. They have already alienated a significant portion of the UM alumni and anti-Michigan crowd. Therefore, they are playing to the Sparties and those who are anti-Michigan and are hoping their sensationalist headlines are captured by the National Press. They have to do this since they are a business and their number 1 priority is to make money. No big deal, but given that, I say just boycott, avoid, ignore the Freep and they will go bankrupt (the beauty of capitalism)!
