Freddy Canteen to Notre Dame
Anyone know his story? He hasn't been on the team (was he a medical?), but seems to have stayed in Ann Arbor in the meantime. Good luck to him.
Edit: Looks like he'll be graduating UM in May, so he'll be immediately eligible.

How weird
February 11th, 2017 at 7:43 PM ^
Watch out for purple monsters and figthings in South Bend.
February 11th, 2017 at 7:56 PM ^
4-8 shades of purple there
February 11th, 2017 at 11:11 PM ^
....which is a tad better than 3-9 shades of green.
February 11th, 2017 at 9:51 PM ^
This is why they have dashes in their end zone
February 11th, 2017 at 7:38 PM ^
ND is hurting for talent? That's the only conclusion I can come to here.
February 11th, 2017 at 8:06 PM ^
Being that I'm about a 45-minute drive from ND, I'm unwillingly subjected to frequent updates on the local TV sports reports .
Brian Kelly seems to be in semi-panic mode after a 4-8 season, firing and replacing much of his staff. He had a LOT more misses than commitments on signing day. He's without an experienced QB (Malik Zaire defected a couple weeks before starting QB Kizer declared for the draft); the likely 2017 starter is soph Brandon Wimbush, who threw all of 5 passes as a freshman.
Maybe Freddy can wildcat QB?

I guess firing a bunch of your staff after a 4-8 season is better than completely standing pat after a 3-9 season

Zing!

It's worth 3 harrumphs!

Meh, I'll stick to the Michigan, sex, breathing mantra.
February 11th, 2017 at 8:15 PM ^
That's a good one.
Call girls, narcotics, Louisville is a solid backup as well. (Papa John's can also be used interchangeably)
February 11th, 2017 at 7:59 PM ^
We'll always have the speed ladder.
February 11th, 2017 at 7:54 PM ^
Notre Dame is an excellent pedigree for a graduate degree. Wish you good luck Freddy and thanks for your hard work at Michigan.
February 11th, 2017 at 8:06 PM ^
yes, regardless of athletic results, an undergrad from UofM with post grad from Notre Dame all for free...that's amazing.
February 11th, 2017 at 7:55 PM ^
Touchdown Jesus hasn't been so touchdowny lately.

Punt Jesus

I appreciate your humor.
February 11th, 2017 at 9:16 PM ^
Or very Jesus-y

him to shine on the field, but congrats on his graduating from M.
February 11th, 2017 at 8:05 PM ^
If he ends up with a ND graduate degree to go along with a Michigan bachelor's degree he has done quite well for himself.
February 11th, 2017 at 8:12 PM ^
This football related news is not nearly as important as the post above* by somebody congratuling themselves on their first anniversary of being a part of MGoBlog.
*Post may or may not be deleted at some point.

As long as he doesn't play against us, I wish him good luck. He will need it playing for Kelly.
February 11th, 2017 at 10:05 PM ^
Canteen will line up against Michigan in the 2018 season opener in South Bend assuming he completes both of his final years at ND.
February 11th, 2017 at 8:30 PM ^
He never saw the field at Michigan. He must think the competition isn't as good at ND.
February 11th, 2017 at 8:37 PM ^
I remember him playing for Hoke in his last year, i think. (EDIT: he only played 6 games and had 5 receptions.)
February 11th, 2017 at 8:59 PM ^
He would be correct!
February 11th, 2017 at 9:03 PM ^
because he looked YOKED in a recent picture. Like "David Boston big". I last saw him at about 175lbs and he recently looked like he was 230lbs of muscle. Best to him.
February 11th, 2017 at 9:27 PM ^
I wish Freddy Canteen nothing but the best in South Bend!
February 11th, 2017 at 9:30 PM ^
I hope to see him around campus! Great skillset
February 11th, 2017 at 10:03 PM ^
What program? I'm in Mendoza. It can be tough "educating with the enemy."
February 11th, 2017 at 11:48 PM ^
As my handle might indicate, I'm also part of this club - MA in 2010 from ND. I agree, it was a little tough being in hostile territory. Granted, the "Beat ND!" button on my Michigan backpack didn't exactly help my cause. :)
February 12th, 2017 at 12:02 PM ^
Law school here!
February 11th, 2017 at 9:41 PM ^
You don't see a grad transfer go in with two years of eligibility, that's pretty nice for him and Notre Dame. Best to ya', Freddy.
February 11th, 2017 at 9:43 PM ^
All the undergrads at Notre Dame will soon be wearing his fasionable athletic attire...

Fancy footwork but showed little ability to track and catch the ball.
The dude has really been hitting the weights and is huge now. Best of luck to him.

Freddy's Canteen
February 11th, 2017 at 9:51 PM ^
Why do some have to insult him? Congratulations on graduation from Michigan and attending Notre Dame for graduate school. Regardless of athletic results that is a strong resume for a great future.
February 12th, 2017 at 8:09 AM ^
Him, they've been insulting the shitty program he's going to and their grape colored leader.
February 11th, 2017 at 10:03 PM ^
i dont particularly like ND but good for him if hes psyched about it. there are certainly worse places to ball for few more years and earn another free degree (though must state again ive never really understood the ND appeal, especially for those with dozens of great options). ill root for canteen to light it up all around.
anyone know where hell compete? bc i know harbaugh had him at both WR and DB
February 11th, 2017 at 10:14 PM ^
I wonder what he's going for. I looked at their masters programs and they don't appear to have either of the departments I'm considering (they have global health but not public health, MSGH vs MPH).
