Freddie J. back to normal

Submitted by jmblue on

There was some concern recently about a lack of oversized praise from Fred Jackson on the tailbacks, but he's rectified this with his recent statements on Fitzgerald Toussaint in the Detroit News:

"He's as talented as anyone who walked in the door," said Jackson, who has coached Michigan career leading rusher Michael Hart, Chris Perry, Anthony Thomas and Tyrone Wheatley, to name a few.

Jackson said he had never before heard of a player breaking his shoulder blade. But before the injury, Jackson saw budding talent.

"He's got great feet, acceleration, strength, power," Jackson said. "I can compare him to somebody -- he's like a fast Chris Perry. He's going to be very good."

I think that was kind of the point of the title. Back to normal--> back to hyperbole (especially regarding Brian's recent post saying that he worries about our current RB crop because Jackson isn't saying NASA plans on launching a rocket into space with the sheer power of their awesomesauce

Coach Jackson was over the moon about McGuffie, Shaw & Cox. Especially McGuffie. Similar sort of praise to FItz. He said Sam would be one of the best ever.

Fitz being faster than Chris Perry would be awesome. Perry's Sr season was a dream. He deserved every bit of that Doak Walker and was great against OSU in the 100th anniversary of The Game.

Hopefully he will avoid the immaturity that Perry had in his bouts with Coach Carr. It was painful to watch him as an underclassmen have so much potential wasted sitting on the bench.
If Fitz has the well-roundness of Perry, the next 4 years will be exciting. Can't wait for another RB to display stength, speed and agilty all at the same time again.
