FoxSports Seven Round Mock has Rudock in Sixth Round

Submitted by jimmyshi03 on

Peter Schrager, who is one of Fox's main draft guys, compiled a full mock released this morning. As stated, he has Rudock going in the compensatory section of the sixth round, to Baltimore. He has both Henry and Glasgow going in the fifth, Henry at 154 to Oakland, and Glasgow at 160 to the Vikings.

For what it's worth, Schrager was one of the media guys who bought the 49ers line hook, line and sinker regarding Tomsula and the "locker room issues" under Jim Harbaugh.

I'll spare the Brady comparisons with the 6th round tag, but Rudock at round 6 is a good value. Letting him learn behind an established guy in Flacco under John Harbaugh, with very little pressure, is one of the best possible situations I think.

The Sporting News put out a preseason poll this week. It has UM ranked at 8th, which is sort of low considering all the returning talent at UM. OSU is ranked 4th even with only 3 returning players. That's crazy.
I just proves what we already know, that Urban Meyer is viewed as a far superior coach vs. crazy Jim. For SN to rank OSU 4th when only 3 of 22 starters are returning is a big statement that they believe he is far better at developing players and coaching football that Harbaugh. Of course when a guy kicks in the door of Your house, spits on your kids, slaps your fat wife, ass rapes you, and leaves you lying on the floor bleeding from the ass it's no wonder people seem him as the better coach. 42-13.........

Hope the Pats take him. He can sit third on the depth chart for a year and then be Brady's backup for the next five after some foolish team overpays for Jimmy Garoppolo off of four games of tape next offseason. Once Brady finally hangs it up, that's a great place to be.

But the guy isn't getting any younger and that body takes another 1-2 years of pounding and he will be looking to finish up. New England would be wise to take a QB, they think can develop under Brady for a couple of years and then take over for him.

It's not completely unprecedented to play into your 40's:

I grant you that the game has changed since Warren Moon and George Blanda played, but in a lot of ways, it has become easier for QBs to play longer - rules to protect them, better nutrition and travel conditions, etc.

I'm 45 and I guarantee you I'm a better badminton player now than I was 5 years ago. Of course, I only started playing 5 years ago.

When you play badminton you don't have 300 pound Dlineman trying to pummel your liver into a fine paste. League rules are very QB friendly now, but that doesn't mean players hit any less hard than they did in the past. If anything NFLers are better engineered monsters than ever before. Brady already has the punishment of 255 games started under his belt. Father time comes calling for everyone eventually. If he makes it to 44 that would be awesome, but if I was betting money I would play the under.

Rudock could start games 1-4 and end up supplanting Brady when he goes 50:0 TD:INT so careful what you wish for.

Jk but seriously they have 2 QBs... draft Rudock!

On the other hand they'll definitely pick up another QB for the suspension's sake, so it might actually diminish the chances they draft Rudock.

If Garoppolo doesn't play well, I wouldn't put it past Belichick to just say "Fuck it" and and throw the games big time.  Like 150-0 big time.  That would piss off Goodell but there wouldn't be a damn thing he could do about it.  When Brady returns, the Pats could run most of the table, still make the playoffs and again piss off Goodell.  Not gonna happen, but I would love to see it.

Rudock could end up getting paid as a second QB for years.  He would almost never get hit, thus avoiding the concussions that plague modern-day NFL players.  Then his brain would be fully intact for medical school while his bank account has more than enough money to pay for it.

But by the end of the year, I really feel like Rudock was playing at a 4th round level. 3000 yards, 20 TD's and 9 INT's in a Harbaugh offense (in the Big Ten where the weather is not great)... Sign me up if I am an NFL GM. I think a 6th round pick on Rudock is well worth it.

He is a smart kid. Tough. Dedicated. And he can scramble out of bad situations. He has been through the ringer of THREE quarterback competitions. I am really rooting for him to land in a good situation.

I might be viewing this through maize and blue glasses, but why would a team not give Rudock a shot?

Sure he might not have the best measurables, but he has shown that he is a student of the game, well liked by his teammates, and can flat out play quarterback.

I don't think Denver would take Cook in the first round. There is a huge gap between Cook and Prescott, who most seem to think is the next QB. A team could likely trade back and get Cook in mid-2nd.

A little surprised to see Apple going so high. He's a solid player, but I wouldn't have him in the first half of the 1st round.

Some really high ceiling WRs going late in the first. Treadwell to Minnesota. Coleman at 24. In a league that puts a high value on WR, I would be shocked if they didn't run off the board earlier as teams really try to get in on the top flight group.

Hackenberg early 2nd... no.

Spiggs could be a nice pick in the 2nd. Bit of a steal there.

I really didn't see Ward as a round 2 pick out of Illinois. I guess I didn't watch a ton of tape on him, but I didn't see that out of him. I guess people are projecting with him vs his team as a whole.

Jaylon Smith was a first round talent. He's not going round 2 with his injury. Some team will take a risk on him, but the injury was really bad.

I don't think Vannet is a round 3 TE. He's a second half of the draft type of pick, IMO.

I just keep on getting surprised by the depth at DT and OL in this draft. Some really solid players going deep in this draft.

Curroo could be a steal for someone in round 4.

I don't see Henry lasting until round 5, but with the DT depth it'll depend on how teams prioritize those guys. Speaking of which, Sheldon Day in round 5? I know there are some injury concerns, but that makes no sense to me. Guy should be going round 3 at least, IMO. Bit surprised Heath is as high as he is on this list. He's a tweener, and doesn't have near the athletic upside as LT from the same MSU team (who is going later than him).

Josh Ferguson could make someone really happy as a third down back. He seems like a Pats RB all the way, but could fit in well with Green Bay as well. Really good receiving RB.

Shocked they have Stave being drafted. Shocked. Rudock would likely start as a QB3 in Baltimore. Would be a bit surprised by that pick, not necessarily the spot, but to Baltimore.

Corey Davis from WMU should get drafted.
