@Mark__Snyder FOX had affiliate presentation today. I was given this by our IT guy today from the event.

Every televised edition of The Game has been ABC except two occasions.

1983 was on Sports View and 1985 was on CBS.

What I think Gus Johnson does, which no announcer should ever do, is to convince his listeners that he's a fan of your team.  It's great for him, because he keeps on ingratiating himself with different groups of fans all over.  It makes him a lousy reporter.  But with high-def tv, and not much need for a "reporter," Gus Johnson is there, seemingly, for the entertainment and cheerleading.

If Gus Johnson is a "Michigan fan," it should clearly be fatal to any popularity that he had, in Columbus.  But at ElevenWarriors, there is the same sort of Gus-dichotomy we see here.  Younger tv watchers love him.  Others really dislike him.

I recalled this post from my time at 11W.  Some of the comments are pretty funny.  I had actually forgotten(!) the trick I learned with my Comcast remote for the OSU-Wisconsin B10 Championship, pressing the "Language" button to remove Gus Johnson's commentary from the telecast and leaving only the crowd and ambient noise feed.  It was wonderful!

think he "retired" from everything except for west coast games and the NC game at that time.  I think the only non- Pac 10 or bowl games he called after that was the 2003 Michigan v. Ohio State game.

It's the super wide angle they use for the Big12 games that makes the broadcast seem so foreign. It will be interesting to see if we get the same treatment. Brian might have the easiest UFR assignment of all time (if we win).

Out with the old and in with the new you complacent old dinosaurs. Maybe go outside once a week and breathe some fresh air? Just a suggestion.

Gus Johnson/Joel Klatt > Chris Fowler/Kirk Herbstreit The best PBP guy on ESPN/ABC is Tessitore with Herbie being the best Color

He's a good studio host.  His playcalling is better, but it's not #1 team worthy.  To me, a good PBP guy can carry a weak color commentator.  I don't know if it works the other way around.

Best teams ESPN/ABC has had the past 25 years:

Keith Jackson/Bob Griese
Brent Musberger/Dick Vermeil
Brad Nessler/Bob Griese
Brent Musberger/Kirk Herbstreit/Bob Davie
Brad Nessler/Gary Danielson

And as much as I hate the SEC, I would watch Lundquist and Danielson over any Pac-12 or Big-12 game Gus Johnson is calling.  Love Gus, but Lundquist > Gus for an entire game.

and of course conference chamionships and playoff games on Fox.  I agree with previous posters....it doesn't feel right.  Gus Johnson's schtick annoys me to no end.  The player intros with flexing and posturing.... Not looking forward to this but hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
