Despite their comments, I can assure you that I have yet to see and don't expect to ever see a great mind on this blog... ...except of course for McFarlin. He's a fuckin' genius. /snark

I'd imagine it might take awhile for it to actually be "done." NFL teams have to follow the Rooney rule, so the Hawks have to interview a minority candidate. Unless they've already done this, it'd take a bit b4 this would be official. I'd imagine that many minority candidates would turn down interviews knowing they may only be token interviews if a real HC has already been found.

The coming sanctions on that program must be worse than we thought. Tim Floyd resigns for no apparent reason and we find the basketball issues are serious enough for USC to ban itself from the postseason. Now Carroll (if true) resigns for no apparent reason and......???

This class could turn into sexy time very quick, any one else think RR knew what he was doing and we could have two 5 star commits come feb. 3rd?

Like knew what he was doing in recruting a kid after he commits elsewhere, if I recall correct when he took his visit here he was a USC commit. Obviouslly there was no way to forsee Carroll leaving(perhaps). I was just recalling all the, omg are class is almost full and we have all 3 stars the sky is falling type panic that was going on. Come feb. 3rd this class could look way diffrent then we thought it would a month ago. Just do work RR, do work.

There was talk about a 5 star who was commited elsewhere who all of a sudden was getting free bottles of snake oil and was gonna make a official visit soon. The name never came out but from how I was interpreting it we have a good shot to land a unknown 5 star lineman(tacopants?)

Edit: Scenario #1: It is my humble opinion that Pete Carroll is going to burn based on whatever comes out of the McKnight investigations, the everlasting bush probe, the secondary fallout of the Floyd/OJ Mayo scenario and what looks like a legit lack of institutional control for over a decade. or... Scenario #2: he asked for a $70 000 bathroom and was refused.

L.A. Times reporting Seahawks interviewed Carroll this week The Seattle Seahawks, who today fired coach Jim Mora, have targeted USC's Pete Carroll as their next coach, The Times has learned. A Seahawks contingent including CEO Tod Leiweke interviewed Carroll in Los Angeles earlier this week to gauge his interest in replacing Mora. Carroll has long been considered a candidate to return to the NFL, where he coached the New York Jets (1994) and New England Patriots (1997-1999). However, Carroll’s greatest success has come at the collegiate level. The Seahawks are owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, the league's richest owner, so money is not expected to be an obstacle. Carroll has not returned numerous phone calls and texts this morning seeking comment. Mora coached the Seahawks one season, finishing 5-11. The organization has also contacted Minnesota defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier about the job. He is thought to be a serious candidate, and his interview would satisfy the Rooney Rule, which requires that a minority be interviewed for each opening.

Let's hope Dillon Baxter joins his San Diego boy Tate in Ann Arbor.

I never understood the rooney rule is it not more of a slap in the face of a minority to be given a job interview because the team has to, even if that team has no intrest in that person to begin with?

Does this mean we can take back Nick Perry and Ronald Johnson? I remain skeptical, but in the grand scheme of things, this is far bigger for Michigan than Urban Meyer stepping down.

I have a lot of thoughts on this, but I'm mostly concerned about the absense of THE KNOWLEDGE. I need to know if Steve Sarkisian will be the next coach of USC and whether or not THE KNOWLEDGE will soar!
