That's a really sad story. I hope all the best for the girl. It's terrible that kids have to face such things.

But I could not care less about Toney Clemons. And frankly, I don't think he cares about UM:

I truly don’t want to be associated with the program back there. But I am going to help benefit my teammates back there by speaking and giving testimony.”

Yeah, ok, whatever dude.

My heart goes out to her and her family.  She is an innocent child who deserves a miracle, regardless of who is her uncle.  Toney Clemons is NOT a Michigan Man, regardless of what definition you give that term.

That's great that he's playing for his niece and it is a horrible condition.  Best to his family and friends.  But he burned a bunch of bridges on his way out, and apparently wasn't much of a good soldier even at UM.  I wish him nothing but the best with respect to his niece, but he's not someone who I'd associate positively with UM.

I don't get the hate for Toney Clemons. He was recruited by Lloyd Carr and played under him for one year. Then Rodriguez came along, and obviously things didn't go well. Clemons wasn't the only one to dislike Rodriguez, and the NCAA investigation determined that Michigan was doing something wrong under Rodriguez.

You are, in essence, shooting the messenger.

How many of you have had a boss and then someone else took over and you didn't like your new boss very much? I'm guessing it happens pretty often.

I don't really think that's true. Who knows what Clemons ACTUALLY experienced? Perhaps he was entirely truthful. Maybe the NCAA only reprimanded Michigan for what the NCAA could prove, not what was alleged by Clemons and other players. Yes, it did hurt the program...but so did breaking the rules. If the employees in charge didn't break the rules, the amateurs they were in charge of wouldn't have legitimate charges.

Magnus, you couldn't have said it better. I'll go to my grave a Rodriguez supporter but I will never blame a player for his regime not working out.

Shame on this board tonight!

towards things and people wearing red and gray, or things wearing green and white (or bronze).  But hatred towardsToney Clemons?  Naw.  What he did, he did, it's all in the distant past. Besides, moving on isn't that hard to do.  Try it.

What is much MUCH more important is the health of that beautiful little niece of his.  I have a grandaughter around the same age; I'd do anything for her up to and including throwing myself in front of a bus to save her.  I can certainly understand his love of and concern for her well-being, and I fully support his efforts to help her, regardless of anything negative that happened a long time ago associated with his time at U of M.

I can't work up any bile towards Clemons. He's not the reason RR didn't succeed here. And given the gravity of what his family is facing, whatever happened in Ann Arbor seems ridiculously insignificant.

and to all of our children for good health.

Toney Clemons?  Whatever.  I know he's hurting so despite his whining as he torched all bridges heading out of Ann Arbor, I still feel for him.
