What are the rules with a transfer like this within conference? And, I wonder why Urban doesnt want him/why he didnt want to play for Urban...Seems weird

Depth chart burial is almost certainly the case.

Pittman, Washington, Spence

On top of that, he missed the spring with migraines and still isn't 100%. That's a losing battle

I think he wants to lose to michigan twice in a row -- a little faster.
August 19th, 2012 at 11:20 PM ^
I believe they waived the rule that you had to walk-on and pay your own way if you transferred within your conference a couple of years ago.
August 20th, 2012 at 7:00 AM ^
I don't believe you're right. I know they waived it for PSU players. I recall it being an issue that needed to be settled before Illinois's coaching army could airdrop into State College.

He gets scholarship money, but the year he sits out counts against his remaining eligibility.

Did anyone else see the Urban Meyer/OSU bit on sportscenter? I scoffed in contempt at the whole bit.
August 19th, 2012 at 11:13 PM ^
It's not just sportscenter. That horrible display of PR is going to be a four-part series that runs all week in its own time slot.
August 19th, 2012 at 11:15 PM ^
Do you have a time machine?
August 19th, 2012 at 11:16 PM ^
So will Sparty count this as a head to head recruiting victory?
August 19th, 2012 at 11:20 PM ^
They shouldn't. It really was no competition because clearly this kid wants to play at the most disgusting school he can find.
August 20th, 2012 at 6:59 AM ^
I thought he was already at that school?
August 19th, 2012 at 11:27 PM ^
From OSU.

Interesting. Will certainly cause a lot of trash talk when the two teams play. The best part about those teams playing is one has to lose. Last year I wished it to be a downpour and the score to be 3-0 in 20 overtimes. It was low scoring and a monsoon so it was fine with me.
August 19th, 2012 at 11:29 PM ^
Basketball implications come with it as well. His brother Nigel is a 2013 recruit who has been gaining recruiting momentum recently, and just acquired his highly sought after OSU offer. It will be interesting to see Izzo make a move with Kenny at MSU.
August 19th, 2012 at 11:29 PM ^
Damn it
August 19th, 2012 at 11:31 PM ^
Why not 2-0 in 20 overtimes?
August 19th, 2012 at 11:40 PM ^
I know we are talking about state and ohio, but would they really be that stupid to take the ball and run it 75 yards into their own endzone for a safety?
August 19th, 2012 at 11:58 PM ^
Maybe four 25-yard sacks in a row? That would be a picture-perfect ending to this hypothetical game.
August 20th, 2012 at 12:12 AM ^
Both teams have bad OLs and great DLs. All the ingredients are there
August 20th, 2012 at 1:03 AM ^
You guys have a much better DL than they do. Their DL is probably the weakest part of their defense (although that says more about their back 7 than anything else). They have a Gholston, but you have a Simon and a Hankins, and both of those guys are better than Gholston.

I think he was talking about last year's game, so we had Worthy too. Would've been interesting to see those two D-lines to go against each other... somehow
August 20th, 2012 at 12:23 AM ^
to score a safety in OT.
August 20th, 2012 at 12:24 AM ^
is that it's only one that will lose.

for your quote. My favorite Simpsons' quote. EVER.

Opens up a recruiting spot for Ohio.
Peace Out Migraine suffering Kenny Hayes.
That Urban is crazy like a fox.

Aw, Mark must have called his BFF Jim and pulled some strings. Yay friendship!
August 20th, 2012 at 12:29 AM ^
Woody would not be pleased in his namesake moving on.
August 20th, 2012 at 7:46 AM ^
He has time for 2 more transfers...........looks like he will be headed to ND for sure, the last one is a little tougher, he will try to go to USC but after he gets turned down there he will head to Kansas and play for Charlie.
August 21st, 2012 at 2:32 AM ^
From what i heard, Urban wanted him to move to DT, but Hayes didn't want to. Urban then threatened him with a Medical DQ if he did not play at DT because of his "headaches", so he decided to transfer.
August 21st, 2012 at 3:25 AM ^
Str8 from Sparty land
Yeah, he's a stud, Meyer wanted him to switch to DT or he'd medical redshirt him. Incidentally, he's was a higher rated prospect than Pittman was coming out of high school #68 overall prospect in the Country. Good pick up, he was running with the 1s in Spring camp for OSU so he's got all the potential in the World, just didn't see eye to eye with Meyer. Had some migraine headache issues that Meyer tried to use as leverage over him, but he's supposed to be good to go, will be eligible to play in 13'.
Gives us crazy athleticism at DE next year with Joel Heath, Lawrence Thomas, Shilique Calhoun all being "Freaks" and Marcus Rush being a stud too. SEC level talent right there. I bet we're the only team in college football who has a white guy named Marcus and a black guy named Joel playing for us. By most accounts, Joel Heath has been an animal this summer, he's 6-6, 275 and ran a 4.69 forty. Heir apparent to Gholston if Thomas doesn't beat him to it, now with Mayes in the Mix the SDE is stacked for the next few years.
