Purchase/possession of alcohol:
I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU SONNY
Purchase/possession of alcohol:
eh. just an unlucky college kid.
A college student drinking underage!?
Imagine. Drinking in State College. I heard that all the undergrads did there was go to class, church and the library. I'm disillusioned.
aren't there football groupies around to buy it for him?
so we got a signed a kicker who can do this ...
he smack the crap outta him... but he lets him know he just got JACKED by a man beast kicker.
I think the punt was almost as impressive as the hit.
could do the job UofM signed him for and hit FG's; which, according to the reports out of spring practice, ain't happening.
Regardless of whether you think it's "wrong" to drink underage and the fact that just about everyone does it in college, this is just stupid. Unlucky, but stupid. You know the rules, you know the consequences, why risk it?
I'd be the pot to his kettle there. Nobody really cares unless it becomes a pattern of poor judgement--even the coaches.
What do you think the consequences for this offense will be? Think he'll do time?
Is this a serious post?
Absolutely. I don't really have a problem with it, but he's on a football scholarship and in the limelight. It's just not the smartest thing to do.
I hear you, but he's also 18 and in college. I'm pretty sure our warrior-poets wouldn't sully themselves with demon rum, but odds are 90+ percent of the other D-1 athletes are drinking underage. He'll get a stern talking to from his position coach and a couple of mornings running stairs.
I had a couple of friends on my school's football team, and the coach basically said that he didn't care if they drank, but he did make them run every Sunday morning...the puking was the consequence for drinking.
I don't know how the police are in Happy Valley, but if you get busted in Ann Arbor, you're an idiot. The AA police have bigger fish to fry than underage drinkers, and if you get busted here, its because you did something else stupid to go with it.
I was standing on a front lawn in the summer of '04 drinking at a lacrosse party, completely minding my own business and got MIP'ed. It was probably my second or third beer so I was not the slightest bit intoxicated.
Town police were always looking to bust a student for anything as a revenue generator. Campus police were much more likely to refer students for campus discipline rather than criminal records.
2 friends got caught underage blasted on campus. They had uprooted a sign and were carrying it back to their room. One of the student cops called a campus cop and they got busted.
Neither got a criminal record and were just on "campus probation" and had to pay some restitution and attend some lame alcohol classes.
Except for certain weekends, the Ann Arbor police don't really care about underage drinking unless you are being very dumb about it.
Most college towns I've been to have been much more strict than Ann Arbor. I think some of them use underage drinkers as a major source of revenue.
So your telling me a college kid was in possesion of alcohol, the terror....
would blame RR
Good thing he didn't come here because if that happened here the FreeP would have a field day. RR allows his players to drink.
had he been playing for us, we'd have another Drew Sharp article on our hands.
On the other hand ... yeah I don't give a shit.
just a typical Tuesday morning in Cousins.
Word. +1 for Cousins.
I mean, I know it's because the drinking age is 21.
If he were a couple hundred miles north, it would be a non-issue. If he were overseas, it would be a non-issue. Of all the places alcohol consumption is legal, there are only a few where the legal drinking age is over 19, mostly in Asia and the Middle East:
because the vast majority of people under the age of 21 are way too dumb to be allowed to consume alcohol without consequence.
Fera can play in the CFL or in the IFL (Iranian Football League).
He should be drawn and quartered!!!
Who in their right mind would drink on a college campus?
I only talk about players that play (i.e. would, could, should, might get in trouble) for Michigan.
Pennsylvania suck. Not to mention the stupid stupid stupid liquor laws in that state. You have to buy damn 6 pack from a restaurant or a state run store. Lame.
lose your license for a year or something if you are cited for MIP...happened to my brother 1 week shy of his 21st birthday. Of course, that was MANY years ago, so I have no clue of Pennsylvania still does this.
Raise your hand if you got an MIP at Michigan
*swiftly raises hand*
How hard are these to get, I'm going to be a freshman next year and I want to know good tips to avoid MIP's and when and where you are most likely to get busted
As long as you are not incredibly stupid about drinking in public places, Ann Arbor police generally won't mess with you. If they break up a house party, they aren't the type to go through and breathalyze everyone. As long as you "act like you've been there" and avoid drinking on public property, they are a pretty respectful bunch.
The only time I've seen them issue a lot of MIP's was the night before a home football game against Wisconsin. They were hanging out on the sidewalk, and busting people who stepped on the sidewalk with a drink in hand.
Also, be very conscientious while drinking in a dorm room. Try to avoid doing anything that would attract attention. If you make it through freshman year without getting an MIP, there's a pretty good chance that you are in the clear until turning 21.
Ann Arbor cops aren't that bad. They only broke up a couple of parties I attended, and only went after kids who were obviously drunk. Just be smart and keep your wits about you. (And honestly, getting drunk out of your mind is not that cool. You don't want to be the cringe-worthy guy in the group that everyone else edges away from as the night goes on.)
"Rich Rodriguez should have known better than to target a kid who was a ticking time bomb. He's just fortunate that the bomb blew up in State College and not Ann Arbor."
If he is old enough to be KIA, by playing against us, let the guy have a drink. So long as he's responsible about it.
IBleedMaizeNBlue cares. Other than that, nobody.
