Former M pitcher Zach Putnam called up

Submitted by ChalmersE on

Former Michigan Pitcher-DH Zach Putnam has been called up by the Indians.  Putnam, you may recall, was the star of the Michigan team that eliminated heavily favored Vanderbilt a couple of years ago.  Putnam then had a no-hitter into the 9th inning in the opener of the Super Regional, but the first hit of the game led to the only run and Oregon State beat Michigan and went on to win the NCAAs.

What was uninformative about the title?

Zach Putnam.

Before clicking, I knew that the post would be about a progression in Putnam's major league career.  Maybe he could have said "Zach Putnam called up" but really, is it that much more informative?  If we're talking about Putnam, it's almost for sure b/c he was called up.

Not worth freaking out about when we've had about 7 threads asking where Fitz was on Saturday.

I believe that putnam is used as a middle relief pitcher in the indians organization, it will be interesting if they keep him in the same spot or try to make him a starter.

As a Tigers fan, I hate the Indians, But now that the division race is pretty much over, I can root for Putnam to do well. Congrats to him and let's hope he makes the most of it.
