I half-expected the Freep Jr. to try to blame RR for this and bring up Demar Dorsey as inevitably following the same path. So when I skimmed the article I the name Dorsey jumped out at me. I was releived that when I read more closely the Doresy in this story is an Ypsi cop. No mentiono or blame of RR in this story either. Very suprising straigt news piece from Freep Jr.

Give it time; Drew probably needs a couple of days to crap out one of his columns.

Seriously, for a subset of our fan base the game has been over for at least a few months. They've already blamed RichRod for this.

Since Cissoko was basically a Carr recruit.

The story would not fit the Freep's predetermined theorem, that all bad things at Michigan are attributable to Rich Rodriguez.

Can anybody find the story Mick McCabe did, warning the world that in recruiting Cissoko, Lloyd Carr had essentially recruited an outlaw? No? Maybe it's because there was no such story. Sometimes things don't turn out the way Mick McCabe expects.

There is a difference in "sympathizing" with Cissoko and thinking it's sad that in 8 months a kid went from starting at CB as a sophomore for one of the most storied college football teams to having completely fucked his life up. I don't sympathize with Cissoko - he made his bed, and hopefully he turns things around from here on out. I do think it's sad when a young kid ruins his life, however.

It's sad that he's 19, and has fucked his life up. It's his responsibility for being in this situation, and it's his responsibility to get out.

I also think it's "sad" that Winston can't fucking control himself. These guys have great opportunities to at least get an education, and they're fucking them up. I think that's sad.

My opinion on Dorsey is that he hasn't even been given an opportunity to be around a structured environment. BooBoo had that but that didn't seem to work. If you believe any of the things RR says then you would believe that he gives these kids all the help they can get with class and tries to teach them to be good men. If Dorsey screws up and it involves something that is non-violent then I will feel sad for him. I do not feel sad for anyone who commits violence or intimidates with it to rob someone or otherwise.

Yes.
And one broke into a person's house with a firearm, and the other:

1) attempted to rob a taxi driver with a BB gun
2) snatched cash out of delivery person's hands

I think there's a difference in the severity of the crimes. Given the age, can well call it a wash?

Look - Cissoko should be sentenced and punished for his crime. He has nobody to blame but himself. But there's a vibe on this thread that acts like he's irredeemably evil, and not just a petty offender. Some people are so eager to pronounce a 19 year old a lost cause, and that, in my mind, is too bad.

Are you really going to parse through the types of crimes they committed and argue that one was worse than the other? They were both awful. I think it's a little easier to rationalize this behavior from a 16-year-old living in the ghetto than a 20-year-old who's recently spent over a year in a closely-monitored college football program. (BTW, is there a reason why you keep taking a year off Cissoko's age? He's 20.)

How many of us knew shit from good chocolate at 19 years of age and how many of us know someone who could have been arrested for some stupid crap they (or us) were involved in...thinking here to anyone who has bought marijuana, fought anyone outside a bar etc. etc.

Anyway, I feel for the victims of the offense and sadly Cissoko is clearly an idiot. This said, I hope the kid gets it together.

The only part that is sad is what could have been. His current circumstances aren't sad, they're infuriating. I say that because, like someone else has stated in this thread, there is no more need for more criminals in this World. If he ever turns things around then he should be commended because, as we can all see, it's going to be a long road.

You're just being bullheaded saying that he'll never turn it around. It seems like you don't want him to. Was that your kid that he robbed? That is what it is starting to look like. I'm going to be done with two points:

1) Nobody has argued, at any time through the 100+ replies, that BC should not "learn the hard way," not be punished, not go to jail. You've created a straw man and twisted words from your first post. For some mysterious reason, everyone who has suggested that the whole situation is too bad or argued with you or mocked you has been negbanged in minutes. I'm sure it has nothing to do with you.

2) "I've known so many like him" is extremely pretentious and particularly galling, as you literally know nothing about him other than 1) great football player and 2) arrested. I am not arguing that this ends well, in fact, I suspect quite the opposite. But to act like you have some special knowledge about him (or Dorsey's environment) is ridiculous.
