Forde Yard Dash predicts UM to beat NW, MSU, OSU, contend for playoff.

Submitted by BostonWolverine on

In his weekly article for Yahoo!, Pat Forde predicts the following things will happen:

• M will end Northwestern's undefeated season this weekend

• M will end MSU's undefeated season on 10/17

• M will end OSU's undefeated season on 11/28

• M will have a chance at making the playoffs

He goes on to say:

The Wolverines have allowed 14 points in the last four games, and if they win what could be a three-and-out-a-thon against Northwestern on Saturday they will likely come into Oct. 17 against Michigan State playing better than the Spartans. Win that game, and Michigan State will taste a defeat most bitter at a time when it assumed it had the upper hand in the state. Keeping winning from there, and Harbaugh-Urban I could be the stuff of legend. The Michigan man-crush hero worship already in full effect over Harbaugh would reach screaming-teenage-girls-over-One-Direction levels. It would rival the Saban idolatry in Alabama, perhaps even exceed it.

I mean, sure, NSFMF, but it's a fun read.

You can manage whatever you want, I'm all in over here. It's good to feel again...it's been such a long, dark, cold road that we have all been on. I finally feel the warmth of hope on my face and I will not shield it. I'm going to soak it all in and I urge all of you to as well.

If we are 6-1 going into the game at Minnesota I will feel very good about our chances of winning the rest of our game's up to the OSU game.  I feel by that time, we will be a very tough out for OSU.

They have an easier path then UM - right now their toughest 2 games left are UM and Iowa.  They have a potential 10 win Stanford scalp and a potential 8-9 win Duke scalp and destroyed "dark horse West contendor" Minn.  That's better than our resume which is a "good loss" and beating BYU.  I am not sure how people can mock a NW selection while concurrenty saying UM is on the path to playoffs based on what has happened thus far.

NW has given up 3 TDs all year, one of them a 1 play 22 yd TD when their offense derped the ball deep in their own end.  So 2 legit TD drives in 5 games.  That wins a lot of football games.

I don't know about beating their asses, but I am fairly confident Michigan will win this game. I don't understand the NW hype. It happens a lot, too. Michigan is a far better team player- and coaching-wise and the game is in Ann Arbor. Bring them on.

pump brakes.  love michigan.  offense is work in progress.  we are credible, an opponent to be feared, but we are not there yet.

He hasn't watched our games has he? Ohio State has too much talent, especially on defense. We'd need special teams and the peppers on offense AND them to still be a shit show on offense.

Man-crush hero worship?  Saban idolatry?  So Forde has made the oh-so-clever observation that when a football coach wins the fanbase becomes quite fond of him.  What a dingus.

What if we've been sand-bagging on offense for the last 4 games? We definitely took the foot off the gas in Q2 vs BYU. Maybe Harbaugh is just waiting for the right time (or opponent) to open it up. Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but it's no less plausible, at this point in the season, than what Forde is predicting.

I'm excited and happy and enthusiastic, but man, this place is turning into a bunch of fangirling.

Yeah, it's happening, but get a grip and have some self-respect.

I'm having a hard time right now.  If Jake gets better throwing the long ball, it's possible.  If he continues to miss wide open guys 20+ yards down the field, it's just not going to happen.  When we play a really good defense, they'll stack the box and make us throw to win.  I'm hoping the more weeks that pass, Jake can get in sync with the WR's and gain some accuracy.  Otherwise, I don't see this scenario playing out.

I want to sort of blindly disagree. When Maryland started to get our runs stopped we ran the Chesson jet sweep and attacked the outside. Also we had the Johnson screen when they all out blitzed. I feel this staff knows how to protect for these situations with specific play calling and has ways to (although I hate the phrase) "keep the defense honest".

people are crazy. when jake rudock starts looking like Tom Brady, this team could make the playoff. The offense(everyone, not just rudock) is WAY too inconsistent. That 6-0 1st half versus maryland was vomit inducing offensively.

But i think the offense can play better and will get better, but it just isn't championship calibur yet.

The defense seems to be the real deal and will keep us in every ballgame, but eventually we will need the offense to take some pressure off of them in a big game.

I heard Pat Forde on the radio after the Utah game and his analysis for why Michigan lost was "they have bad players." Dude has no clue about the details of college football and just plays the result.

It's probably because I hate them, but I wouldn't be surprised to see MSU lose at Rutgers this Saturday.  MSU certainly has a better team than Rutgers, but this is their first game out of state this season, at night, with a full day to think about how much they miss Narduzzi.  If nothing else, they'll be a good bet against.

Yeah, if UM wins out they'll be in the playoff, no question.

I don't see them beating both MSU and OSU this year.  I think MSU is weaker and more tractable (drink!), but this team is too mediocre on offense to consistently win even with an elite defense.
