I loved the idea of returning to nike. Not a fan of the jumpman at all. The only redeeming aspect is that it's groundbreaking. Jordan brand shoes are subpar to nike. Jordan brand is not to be confused with air Jordans which are nike.

The airbag? Jordan.
The new technology in Lebrons shoes is originally derived from Unlocked Zoom which was first in the Jordan 28.
Jordan and the knit on the 29 has paved the way for Nike's newest technology in the new KD, Lebron and Calvin Johnson's signature shoe.

Jordan paves the way for Nike. This is HUGE for recruiting

My points are that the jumpman is not a premium version of the nike line. Maybe once there could have been an argument made. The retros are what fuels jordan. Outside of retros, the air Jordans and Jordan brand shoes since the 23's (maybe) have been mostly irrelevant. They've lagged behind the kobes, LeBrons, and KDs. The jordan brand melos, cp3s, and Westbrooks have also lagged behind. Furthermore, nike athletes are free to wear nike air Jordans. I have not seen a jordan athlete wear nikes. I know two people that played basofor unc. Apparently mcadoo wore the jordan Xi concordes and mj wasn't too happy about it. Mcadoo didn't make that mistake again.
On a personal level I stopped wearing Jordans years ago after finding out about his stake in private prisons. For me that's on part, probably worse than the labor issues people had with nike.

I see your point, retros push the number further in the black, but the 28 and the 29 have honestly been some of the best basketball shoes to perform in. And Nike is using the technology now in KD and Lebron's shoes. This year is the 30, which will prolly be the best basketball shoe to play in ever.

They have always been on the technical edge - like the air bag, carbon fiber, full length zoom, engineered mesh, unlocked zoom. They have all been incorporated in other models.

Since all the Jordan brand basketball gear is different from the Nike schools gear, Michigan might be exempt from the cookie cutter templates Nike puts out every year for its schools.

So there might be designs only Michigan gets to wear since they're THE Jordan school in football.

This is a very important question. If not, I am 100% for this. If so, not a fan.

If it is, I think it's hilarious that the same people celebrating the removal of our iconic block M from the uniforms are celebrating putting a basketball player on the winningest football program of all time's jerseys.

rumor: when michael jordan signed his most recent, 480 million dollar deal with nike, written in to it is that they would pay him more money as long as he continued to not:

1) commit any felonies

2) alledgedly commit any felonies

There is a bonus for not getting arrested at all.

Because of this, Nike has to find a way to get more money out of his logo

This.. is awesome! When I heard about the deal and BBall going Jumpman I hoped this might happen to Football as well. It's exclusive, new, and cool. And the brand may do out there things with shoes but their jerseys are historically tamer than Nike. Great news. And helps explain why Nike forked over the cash. I can't wait to see what they do.

This was in the tea leaves, as our Nike deal specifically provides for Nike to supply the football team with Jumpman gear IF Nike supplies Jumpman gear to other football teams that are Nike schools.

Looking at the contract language which, according to your post above, says something like:

"[O]ur Nike deal specifically provides for Nike to supply the football team with Jumpman gear IF Nike supplies Jumpman gear to other football teams that are Nike schools."

This indicates that if another program gets Jumpman gear, then Michigan gets Jumpman gear. It does not mean that should Jumpman supply Michigan Jumpman will supply other schools the gear.

It's a small matter, but I just wanted to point out that I think we were confusing necessary and sufficient conditions.

Derek Jeter wore Jordan cleats when he played. Another Michigan connection. On twitter people are saying Woodson and Woodley are involved since they're Jordan brand athletes.

I mean, I love Derek Jeter, but I wouldn't call him of U-M connection (maybe you meant State of Michigan?).  Sure, he was offered a scholarship by UM (and probably many other schools), but he never came to Ann Arbor, of course.  Other than that and maybe being a fan, I wouldn't count him as a representative of the University.

But, maybe you meant state of michigan.  If so, move along, nothing to see here.

Holy shit.....what if a football jumpman logo is unveiled and it's this.

Keep in mind, Woodson is signed with Jordan

My first thought. This would be EPIC, although the downside is that we can't actually see his whole body. Is there another angle of this?

The Desmond Howard layout would be sweet, also.

I wouldn't go with the Heisman pose because 1) Heisman Trust might have a thing or two to say about trademark infringement (a topic about which Jordan is intimately familiar with his upcoming suits against Dominicks and Jewel-Osco) and 2) he's not jumping.
