Football Season Ticket Upgrades

Submitted by MLaw06 on

I know the MGoBlog winds have shifted against football season tickets and the pyres are lit throughout Ann Arbor, but I have an update for those of us who have dared to renew and upgrade our season tickets.

The Michigan Ticket Office (phone number: (734) 764-0247) has been processing the upgrade requests and you can check to see where your new seats are by giving them a call.  You will need to have your "Account Number" handy (which you can find on your "My Account" page on the MGoBlue.com site).  Not everyone's request has been processed yet, but I got my new seat locations and I thought I would give the public service announcement to others in case you were curious.

Edit: Yes, I was happy with my upgrades.  I upgraded 1 PSD tier, but I also asked to be moved as close to the field as possible (because I like trying to see the player's faces as opposed to those who like the higher strategic view).  Anyway, they gave me Row 2, which I'm more than happy with (and I'm tall so I'm not too worried about the 3 seats in front of me).

Thanks.  I also got this email earlier this week.

"Thank you for your commitment to Michigan Athletics as a donor and football season ticket holder.  We are excited to make you aware of some limited availability in our premium seating areas for the 2014 football season.  Premium Seating is an opportunity to support all 31 teams, while enjoying the ultimate gameday experience!

Limited Premium Seating options currently exist in the following areas:"

Location

Preferred Seat Donation (80% tax deductible)

Season Ticket

Indoor Club

$4,000

$455

Outdoor Club

$1,550 or $2,325

$455

West Chairback

$1,275 or $2,100

So those seats are not flying off the shelf either.

I can vouch for this as well.  I have no interest in the "club" as I never leave my seat during the game.  My family doesn't mind either.  The access to concessions is good, but with a limited selection.  Also, by being in the "outer" part we're at the lower cost tier.  This means we're between the 30 and the 35 instead of closer to the center.  Not a bad trade for me.

Long story short, we're VERY happy with the WCB.

Yup, I know I'm going against the grain by upgrading when everyone else seems to be downgrading or dropping their tickets altogether.  I guess I just see it as a long term thing and I figure I'll be pretty happy in a few years (hopefully) when the team is clicking on all cylinders.

The thing that sucks for you is that if the team improves significantly, they'll really up the prices with demand. You used to be able to keep your tickets basically forever. That's pretty much been tossed out the window unless you're willing to pay an ever higher PSD.

seats on the east side the most.  I havent' been in them for an actual game, but have for several events.  Really, really nice having the indoor areas you can flee to to escape the rain or warm up or use the bathroom without waiting an eternity.   It'll have to wait until my ship comes in however.  Meanwhile, I'm happy with the people I sit with in the south endzone.  We've built up a great relationship over the last 6 or 7 years.

They are high, but you get a commanding view of the field.  You see plays develop and guys break open.  The Gallon cloking device play against ND was really obvious from my seat.  You could tell when they lined up that he'd be open.  The ability to go indoors to warm up or cool down is well worth it to me.  The indoor seating areas with TVs to catch the other games is nice, too.  If they could only figure out how to serve a hot cup of coffee...

They are always very very nice.  I've never had a bad experience with them.  We small talked for a few mins (about the draft) then I asked him if he could look up my football seats for me and I gave him my account number.  He told me my new seats and repeated it so I could write it down.  Also, there was no wait when I called, it only took like 5-10 minutes total.

Just folks being lazy and not asking the follow-up question.  It only takes a second to say, "Any chance you could look to see if my upgrade request is complete?  I have my account number if that helps."  That's all it took for me and the guy was super friendly and helpful.

Thanks for pointing that out.
I called to check and found that my upgrade request was fulfilled.  They moved me a little closer to midfield and kept my row almost exact the same (a change in row was my big concern as I love the height I'm at).  They didn't even bump me to a higher PSD tier which I would've been ok with, but didn't find it super necessary.

Is this a trick question?  Well, I also had NY Mets season tix behind home plate for about 10 years so I might hate money.... because those seats were virtually worthless by spring training each year.

Moved from section 2 to 44. Higher row and near my friend's seats.

CSB. The people who gave up the seats in section 44 hadn't missed a game in 70 years. Nicest people but I think the games were too tough for them to manage at this point. They sat through rain and snow and every other weather condition in recent years.

Interesting.  I just called, and the response was "no, nothing has been processed yet, won't be until the end of the month."  They wouldn't even look it up for me on my account number to see if anything had happened...  I told them I'd read some posts on a blog with people talking about their upgrades and he said "no, nothing has been done yet."

Looks like, Dahblue, 1989 UM Grad and I were the ones who got through to them first before they decided to stop responding to inquiries (based on the posts on this thread).

Sorry for the latecomers.  I assume you guys will be able to find out soon enough.

Sounds like the right question to ask is:

"Hi, my account number is ____, can you tell me where my football season tickets are located?"

Then you can deduce whether or not you have been upgraded by comparing the seats against your prior seats.

Hey guys - my Nigerian Uncle has gotten a bit sideways with the authorities and has to leave the country rather suddenly.  Now, as luck would have it he has over $58,000,000 in US currency he needs to transfer into the country and while I'd LOVE to help him I've got plans this weekend soooooooo......can one of you drop us a quick line with your bank account number, routing instructions, social security & CC number so we can move the money to your account?

Thanks for helping out a fellow blogger.  You can trust me.

I actually knew a few people who fell for these Nigerian scams.  They usually send you an actual check for a large amount and you send them a wire for a smaller amount.  The check clears, but then a few days later, the bank pulls the money back out because there was no money in the sending account and the scammer makes off with the smaller amount of money you sent him.
