Football Season Ticket Request-

Submitted by strick23 on

I've just felt the wrath of the Pimp Hand!

For anyone that had requested additional seats for this upcoming season, I received the following email:

"Interest in additional season tickets among current Season Ticket Holders were very high and therefore, we were only able to accomodate requests from those with 100 or more priority points.  We regret that we were unable to accommodate your request for additional  Season tickets this year."  Then goes on to say:  "Ticket packs will be available....."  HA!

I was hoping to be able to take Dad and the Kids this year, but ah-well!  Maybe next year.

So it cost me $1200 to get two season tickets this year as a new season ticket holder, but they want $8800 more for two additional? I think the OPs real name is Dave Brandon, lol. This is his new fundraising scheme.

Darn, I requested 2 more seats. I didn't get that e-mail....yet. But I'd assume it's coming once they get to my request and I only have like 20 priority points.

I guess it's good though that tickets are back to "in demand" more than they were the last couple of years.

DB's hoping that you want those extra tickets so much that you are willing to buy UMass and Eastern with them when the packages go on sale.

I don't know that this is quite the wrath of the pimp hand or that Brady Hoke and an 11-2 season and on the verge on the No. 1 recruiting class is just drawing in more people. However, I did put in a request to move my seats higher up because I'm too close to the field. This probably will not go through is my guess.

From the AD website:

Requesting New Seat Locations
Season ticket adjustments are based on a number of variables including available season ticket inventory, stadium modifications and overall demand. Until all stadium seats have been widened, flexibility will be very limited. Season ticket relocation requests are ranked first by annual giving category and then by priority point total within that category. Season ticket upgrades and requests can be made on season ticket renewal form sent out in spring 2012.

Therefore, if you think you'll want to relocate your seats for the upcoming season, give as much as you can on your PSD form at the beginning of the year, with an eye on the AD's giving categories ($100-499, $500-999, etc.).  I gave a total of $500 last year (for a big move), and it worked.  I'm trying again this year (for a much smaller move) without any extra donation; we'll see what happens.

Basically money but there are some other things: here is how the points break down:

1 Point Current Athletic Donations (per $100)
1 Point Historical Athletic Donations (per $100)
1 Point Historical University Donations (per $1000)
1 Point Ticket Loyalty (consecutive years as a season ticket holder)
5 Points U-M Degree
10 Points U-M Letterwinner
1 Point Marching Band Donation (per $100)

So basically, if you do the minimum donation of $100 every year and you weren't a UM grad, letterwinner or donated any money outside of that - it would take you essentially 50 years to get to 100 points.

I got 5 points for graduating - which is what i think gave me the bump to get offered tickets because that's the same year I got offered...after I had the 5 points added. But the majority of your priority point will come down to donations.

I'm at 20.5 priority points right now and it breaks down like this:

Alumni + consecutive season ticket holder points - 8
Donation points - 12.5

Like someone else posted, it is good news that tickets are back in high demand.  100 points is high, but not stupid high.  Like for ND road tickets you had to have 300 points.

I got that same email on Friday almost simultaneously with a phone call saying my upgrade had been approved.  So perhaps they are calling the last few "thumbs up" folks one at  a time.

But I seem to remember that my basketball allocation reported 76 and change, which is pretty far below 100.

I asked for four as close as possible toy existing seats (Sec 18 row 94) but acknowledged I would accept any four together. In fact thy got me very close indeed (Sec 19 Row 93).

So I am a happy camper!

Meaning the whole season's worth? I'm interested in someone that either is giving them up completely or can't use them. Where would I go? Craiglist? Stubhub is just for single game tickets I think.

do you get everything you need for your Michigan fix?

MGoBlog of course http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/buying-selling-um-tickets-thread-spreadsheet It's under the MGoBoard tab and there are a couple people selling season's tickets at cost. Good luck, I've used the spreadsheet many times in the past to great success.

I haven't been offered yet (though I did the $500 donation to be 'elegible') but mine would be for sale. Reason being, I'm coming from about 5 hours away and usually do it with at least 3 other friends. Until I can get 4 tickets together, I'll be selling the season tickets and buying assorted ticket packages to make up the games we are going to.

...new season ticket offers (which sounds like you are in this category), were notified last month and the deadline to accept (and buy tickets) was a few weeks ago.  Unless some of these people don't buy tickets (or forget), then you might be out of luck this year.  I think points needed for new people was around 8 points this year.  It will likely go up for next year.

A word of advice to all, if the AD is offering you to be eligible for tickets by paying $500, then pay $600.  Most people probably paid just the $500 at which point you would likely be indistinguishable.

It would make sense (psychologically speaking) to fib on the high side about the required number of points for an upgrade, so that people under the break point imagine they are FAR away and don't complain about how close they got.

I think the real number must be closed to where I am (76) or else I wouldn't have been called.

FYI - I had two blocks of tickets in Section 5 (2 and 4 together respectually-1/3 and 2/3 up stadium) and had about 65 points total going into last year.  I wrote a check for 5K to basically buy points and asked for the upgrade and got the 4 seats moved to Section 3 (about the 18 yard line - 1/3 up) and two seats got moved to Section 2 (30 yard line 1/3 up).  I did not get asked again this year if I wanted to move up again.

I was interested in going to a game this year but wanted to sit in the student section. I'm a non student so I'm not sure exactly what michigan's policy for this is. Am I able to sit with my friends who are UM students? Or do you think it's easier to just get another student's ID and go in as a student? Any tips? Thanks.
