Oh I know. I've had plenty of trips to hostile territory. More people than usual want to go this year (8) and some are balking at the possibility of spending 150-200 a ticket from online sources.

To sustain Home Field advantage the Home Team designates a set amount of tickets that the Away Team can distribute.
So the best way to end up next to Michigan Fans is to buy the away games through the Alumni Group or I think Michigan Ticket office has info as well.
Going to STubHub means you are likely getting Penn State fan tickets, although with their Student Ticket System I don't think you end up in the student section, which would be hellacious I think,

If you are diligent at it, you can find tickets for a reasonable price.
I went to Penn State in 2006. Tickets were out there.
My advice: Know where the Michigan sections are and stand by the gates that get into those sections. Also, establish a price ceiling (be realistic) and don't hold out for better offers.
Edit: Finding 8 reasonably priced tickets by scalping is not impossible but will certainly be difficult. To be honest, the U of M fans who have the ability to get 8 tickets together to premier away games are spending a heck of a lot more than face value for those tickets.

I was at a fund-raising auction a few weeks ago, 2 tickets for Mich-OSU went for $350 for the pair.
I was in the bidding for a while but the thought of spending $350 to sit in the midst of a bunch of Buckeye fans made me nauseous so I bowed out.

Season tickets holders can buy away game tickets. Not all games are available and quantity limits on certain games. If you would like to visit the worst fans in the country, go to an Ohio St. game. Lack of class at its finest.

This year I bought tickets from the michigan state website. I think it transferred me to stub hub for the actual transaction.. Only thing I was not happy with is that I still get emails for Sparty events which gets more annoying every time.

Befriend someone in the Victors Club. I know for PSU in 2006, I was afraid we weren't going to be able to get tickets through the VC lottery, but then we got two, and then they opened it up AGAIN and I was able to get two more. It's not an impossible ticket to get.
Probably wouldn't hurt to make a call to the Ticket Office and see what they will have. After it goes through Victors Club/season ticket holders, the general public will sometimes have a shot at a limited amount of tickets, some games more limited than others.

The ticket office had them on sale (you apply for them and if they have more applications than seats they hold a lottery in June) last week (April 5th through 9th). I don't know if that was just for students or the general public but I "applied" for OSU, PSU and Purdue. I've bought them the same way for the last two seasons and got all the games I applied for. I think they are face value and then the ticket office adds a service charge ($7 total, not per game).

I was at Penn State in 2006 (Night game, white out, amazing atmosphere) and I scalped 3 tickets for face value 3 hours before kickoff with a lot of tickets floating around. You will want to get to the game super early because traffic is aweful with the sea of RV's. Another tip, wear neutral colors if you are going to scalp. PSU or OSU fans more than likely won't sell to Michigan fans. The guy I bought my tickets from was a little peeved when he found out he sold his tickets to Michigan fans. All of the other season ticket holders were giving him crap because of it.
If you're a victors club member call this # (734)647-6177. Call about a month before the game and tell them what game and how many tickets you want. This is how they get rid of extra tickets after the coaches and players get their share.
