Even a more remarkable person to live thru this the way he has. I unexpectedly loss my father in July of this year and I was balling like a little kid watching this. How can you not root for someone with this kind of character? Kudos to RR for honoring the scholarship. Go #57. GO BLUE!!

I got emotional watching that piece of E:60. Its unbelievable the way he has dealt with and persevered through this tragedy.

My fiancee, mom and I were all borderline tears. He appears to have a wonderful support group between his and her families. On the less important side (to some), its nice to see RR and Michigan getting some positive press. I'm sure any team in the country would do the same, but its nice to see the reports of the demise of M family values are greatly exaggerated. EDIT: The article has some additional information from the E;60 piece. If you liked E:60, then it is worth it to take the time to read the article.

The balloon scene was the one that really hit me hard. I mean he looked so strong through most of the piece, then when he was explaining why they write on the balloons he just couldn't take it. I really hope Mealer turns out to be a big success,

He will be a success...I know his family well and they are all dedicated to working hard and earning things. Elliot has talent is athletic and will outwork people. Kudos to ESPN for a great, heart warming and inspiring piece on a family that deserved to have it done.

that Coach Rodriguez called him to immediately let him know that he'd always have a scholarship. It would definitely be a great day to see his brother run out on the field with the team.

What a great family he comes from! His girlfriends family is unbelievable as well. This was a great piece of journalism. This piece should by recognized. Not enough credit given for positive journalism. Rich came off as a great guy (which he is). Shove your family values up your you know what Boren.

While I appreciate the effort that Elliot is putting forth on behalf of his father and his girlfriend, I hope he also does it (or something) for himself. He definitely deserves it. I didn't know that he had played at the end of the Western game. And, I too, hope that Brock has an opportunity to run across the field, with his brother, and touch the Banner some day. Also, I didn't know that Adrian Peterson has had so much adversity in his life. Sheesh, all we hear about is how pro athletes are so spoiled (and, in some ways, they are). But, many are quite grounded and that goes unreported and unnoticed (perhaps that's the way it should be).
