"What (Michigan coaches) told me is that they're focusing on point guards right now, but if anything opens up, they'll definitely come back on and recruit me as hard as they were," said Towns
Flyover for Michigan ND game
The Yankee Air Force's C-47 Skytrain "Yankee Doodle Dandy" will conduct a pregame flyover and a two-soldier parachute team from the 101st Airborne Division (The Screaming Eagles) will drop into the stadium during the halftime program (one each in the two end zones). Prior to the game, the Michigan and Notre Dame NROTC Units will contest their annual flag football game on Friday, 9 Sep at 7 pm at Oosterbaan Fieldhouse. Stop by and cheer on your fellow students.
And thats how the motherfucking United States Military rolls.
Do a search, because I don't think Shoe is going to be around to do it....
I know there is a chance of rain again tonight (ARGH!) Any chance that would affect the aerial plans for today's event?
But as long as it's a normal cloud ceiling or higher, we shoud be fine.
WE SO EXCITED!!!
I don't know if it's related to the game or not, but I live in Toledo and I've heard the fighter jets overhead all morning. There is a fighter wing out of Toledo Express Airport, but it's not that common to hear them flying this early on a Saturday.
retro plane for the 101st - just like their grandfathers did it.
How is the halftime parachute going to work in the dark (halftime will probably be around 9:30-10:00 I should think)? I have no doubt the soldiers can do it, I just don't see how we're going to see them.
gonna have lights on them
I'd like to see The Flying Elvises drop into the Big House at halftime.
Currently, a very low cloud ceiling. Couldn't barely see the one banner plane I saw and that looks like it was headed back to the Ann Arbor airport. Hopefully it will clear but it is not good now.
Mixing sports with the military is absurd and kind of embarrassing.
The National Anthem at games, too!
Hmm, no TAF but METAR doesn't look great:

Ceiling at 1000,' looks pretty marginal
Better than it was. A few banner planes are out now, and you can actually see what they are towing.
According to DUATS Terminal Forecasts:
Detroit Wayne County:
2 pm - 1,000 feet scattered, ceiling 2,500 broken, 4,000 overcast with visibility greater than 6 miles - occasionally 1,000 feet with light rain and visibility of 5 miles through 6 pm.
10 pm - 1,500 scattered, ceiling 12,000 feet broken with visibility 5 miles
2 pm - 2,000 feet scattered, ceiling 6,000 broken with visibility greater than 6 miles and showers in the vicinity- occasionally 1,900 feet broken through 6 pm.
11 pm - 500 scattered with visibility of 3 miles.
To fly, assuming they will be under visual flight rules, requires a minimum of 1,500 foot ceiling and 3 miles visibility. I would guess they will be able to fly and not much of a chance of rain during the game.
rumors it might be an express train.
