Florida Targets for 2017/2018

Submitted by TampaJake on

Please be kind, I rarely post.

The Florida HS season starts Saturday, I have the Venice v. Plant game.  Which got me thinking, is there a way for me to know who we are targeting in the greater Tampa/Sarasota area for 2017/2018?  Then if I have them and am able to observe their play I could offer some thoughts on the player.

I am not invested in this enough to purchase recruiting paywall content, just hoping for a lazy/easy way to be superficially involved.

I get 3 IMG games this year also, I enjoy these as they are all at night (cooler) and on local TV with big-time out of state programs.

Thoughts?

No real pressing targets in 2017 in the Tampa area.

In 2018:

OL Nicholas Petit-Frere (Tampa/Berkeley Prep)

OL Richard Gouraige (Tampa/Cambridge Christian)

ATH Amari Burney (Clearwater Catholic)

TE Judge Culpepper (Tampa/Plant)

Isn't IMG in the Tampa area?  I know we aren't UT and didn't offer like 20 kids there, but don't we already have the RB recruit who is going there, and are looking / offering other kids?

All right, Florida folks--since you live down there, maybe you can explain something I've been curious about: What's up with all the face eating? Just saw another story today about this--cops show up and a guy is getting his chewed off by another individual. Why have Floridians seemingly made a specialty of this?

Cesar Ruiz is a main target for '17 from IMG, there's info about him currently on the front page. Dylan Moses is also a target on IMG, as well as Terrell Pryor's little brother Isaiah, who is already committed to OSU.

I just recently moved to St. Pete.  Any recommendation on good bars/restaurants to watch UM games and other college football games, preferably family friendly, in the St. Pete/Tampa area?

Don't live in St Pete myself, but check out any Beef 'O Brady's locations. I'm sure there are some nearby. There are a few in Tampa for sure. Lots of sports and always family friendly (minus 'those guys' on a football Saturday that may get too rowdy during a loss, but that can happen almost anywhere).

I know this doesn't answer your exact question, but I would love to establish an MGoBlog destination bar in the Bay Area, particularly since I'm now the proud owner of an MGoBlog shirt with Brian's face on it and would love to wear it out knowing there's at least one person who won't look at me like I'm crazy.

Assuming you do not consider WingHouse/Hooters/etc. to be "family-friendly", few decent (non-UM) bars to watch college football would include:

- CourtSide Grille in St Pete/Clearwater off of Ulmerton.

- The Lodge in Tampa on S Howard.  Pro: They turn the sound on for the noon and 3:30 games.  Con: It's an FSU bar when FSU is playing.

- Ferg's in St Pete is supposedly good for college football, but I've never been there myself.
