I remember it like it was yesterday when all the analysts were saying that Florida was the only lock for a 1 seed because they were so good and were going to win out because no one in their conference had a chance of beating them. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Don't look now, but Duke plays @ Virginia and has Miami at home. Virgina isn't a pushover and Miami is def. good.  The Zags have to go play a good BYU squad @ Provo. Meanwhile, we get Penn State on the road and MSU at home.

But let's be honest here - there are 10-12 very good teams this season, I don't see an elite team. And any of those dozen or so teams can be beat on any night. This is going to be a crazy NCAA tournament and I'd bet most brackets will be destroyed after the first weekend.

Zeller was eaten alive - he is now officially out of the POY race. Oladipo did nothing special, and missed FTs down the stretch.

Win out = Big Ten champs and #1 seed

Oddly enough I am a little more leery of Florida after that defeat. They almost beat a desperate team on their home floor down two or three of their key guys.

We have seen how even one piece can have an impact on our own team.

Now I still believe Michigan is one of the teams that can win the whole thing but matchups could be huge and our guys have to be tough and confident.

Crazy stat: Alabama(!!!) can take 1st place in the SEC when they play Florida on March 2nd. (They only have one meeting this year and hence will win the tiebreaker)

It certainly turned into the night we needed, but let's not get too excited.

We need to win out - beating both State and IU - before we can really celebrate.  No easy task.

No pressure and let's just enjoy the ride.

Say we do win out, are we a lock for a 1 seed even if we should be upset in the first game of the big ten tourney?

Yes... well should be. Will have regular season title in toughest conference (by far) in the land. And seeing as this conference is so deep and the fact that wed get a bye that first matchup could be against a team who needs the victory to get in/ greatly enhance their seed.

Call it the appy state effect, but I'm awfully leery about tomorrow in Happy Valley. We didn't win on the road in February and Penn State's been hanging tight their last three games. they are bound to break through at some point.

UT is now on a six game winning streak. Also, Cuonzo is 3-0 against Florida.

In integer news, Florida isn't that good away from home. It will be interesting to see know they get seeded come tourney time.

The odd stat of the game, in reviewing the box score, is that Florida and Tennessee were both 24-57 from the field, and as Tennessee made one more three than Florida, it created a situation where their effective FG percentages were literally within 0.8% of one another. That being said, Florida was outrebounded to the tune of 50% less than Tennessee,

That drops Florida to 12-3 in the SEC and 7-4 on the road. I think Florida is the only SEC team with a winning road record, so if anyone (ESPN) ever decides to talk about how hard Florida has it....yeah...

Agreed.

they lost to illinois (at home), who we swept comfortably.

they do have wins against ksu (as do we) and oklahoma state.

their other loss came to butler.

I doubt they would be in contention for a 1 seed if they had to go through a Big10 schedule, given that their conference is a total joke.

In a fair world, the B1G has 3 #1 seeds in the tourney.  The SEC is terrible, the Big12 is terrible, the Pac12 is nonexistent, the ACC is bad and the Big East is weak.  Couple that with the B1G being about as strong as a basketball conference has ever been...and it's a weird year.  Very weird.
