Florida Favored By 73 POINTS!!! -- Thank You BCS!
Florida is apparently playing the local high school this weekend. They are favored by 73 POINTS over Charleston Southern.
This is disgusting. Thank you BCS!
EDIT: Charleston Southern enrolment is approximately 3,200 students. Affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention, the University’s mission is promoting academic excellence in a Christian environment.

Wheel this in a three team teaser and take the 83...

Florida won't let themselves win by over 73. That's be super douchey.

Here is a pic of Charleston Southerns quarterback

You seem to have an awful lot of animal pictures at the ready.
I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin...

Two of my nephews played basketball at CSU. They came to Crisler one year and lost to Michigan. In hoops the were a little overmatched against an Ellerbe coached team. In football against Florida...it will just depend on how nice Urban wants to be.

If a Tebow lead team puts up 73+ on Charleston Southern, then he is a complete hypocrite and I am done with him. I have no problem with them posting 73 on Tennessee, but you can't do that to a school that is obviously out matched. Seriously, if Tebow is still in the game anywhere past 49 I will have lost all respect for him and Meyer.

any team that you beat by 73+ is "obviously outmatched".

You still have respect for the Cryer?

What does this have to do with the BCS? Florida was running up the score on shitty teams long before the BCS came into being. Like: Florida 62, Georgia Southern 14.

Since the BCS chooses who plays in the MNC, no one wants to risk scheduling any non-conference opponent that might put a loss on them.
With a playoff (with ALL conference champs guaranteed a spot regardless of their non-conference record) teams would be free to schedule harder games in non-conference.
More would do it because it would better prepare them for the conference games. Right now with the BCS the risk is not worth the reward.

And none of them would because why would I play Georgia and burn my guys out so I risk losing to Indiana the next week?

How do you favor anyone by 73 points? I know spreads are governed by the amount of action on either team, but this spread is absurd.
I'll probably watch it now, just to see if they actually cover.

If this was any other team other than Florida it would be a no win.
If USC, Oklahoma, tOSU, or any other rated BCS conference school would get blasted either way. If The won by 73 the "Why were they playing them in the first place" and if they only put up 49 it would be "They looked shaky in the opener".
Just watch regardless of the outcome (73 pts or not) Florida will be a compassionate team full of sportsmanship or a dominating team poised to win another championship.
The only way this will be bad for Tebow is a loss.

Florida being favored by 73 points or playing a patsy is unrelated to the existence of the BCS.

that number has to be coming down before Saturday

Interesting spread. Has a Florida team, or an Urban-led team ever beat anyone by 74+ points? If not, take the 73 to the bank.*
*(I only say this because although the talent levels might predict a 73 point win, morals come into play at some point, and to get to that big of a win you're going to need a defensive / special teams / or couple of long running TDs at the end of the game to get there)

Let me debunk this 73-point favored thing.
5dimes.com has lines has Bowl Subdivision vs FCS teams.
Their line: Florida -62.
And its been that way for awhile now after opening at 63. I am pretty sure the whole Danny Sheridan thing at -73 was a misprint in a paper. And folks never bothered to correct it, or, as many gamblers did, look it up on an online.

Just curious, what is the Over/Under?
September 2nd, 2009 at 11:11 PM ^
in case anyone is interested in knowing, here are other Bowl Subdivision vs FCS lines:
Montana St +33 at Michigan State
Northern Iowa +24 at Iowa
Jacksonville St +40 at Georgia Tech
North Dakota +45.5 at Texas Tech
Also, there is a moneyline on the Florida game. If you wanna win an easy $100, just be willing to wager $400,000 on the -400000 moneyline. Or, you could just go the other way and take a flier on Charleston Southern to win at 800 to 1.
