Flood of coaching news tomorrow?

Submitted by Knappster on

Did we really not get any news on DC, QB coach, WR Coach, DB coach?  Are they going to just name them all at once or are they having trouble finding people?  I thought for sure we would hear some news on at least 2 of these position coaches this weekend.  Anyone know what's going on?  Seems like Loefller would be a shoe in, but I guess not.  Teryl Austin - unemployed.....come on!!!!

Yeah I know.  I'm impatient.

I thought we might hear something this week end as well. Either this whole process has been a bit drawn out or fucked up if you will or I am just so clueless that is why none of this has made any sense to me. Now I know I have never been an AD but I know a cluster fuck when I see one.

That is my point. We need to get this staff in place ASAP, in order to start getting out there and recruiting. It's hard to sell a kid when they can't even meet their position coach. We still have some needs that haven't been filled yet by this class and I would like to see this staff have at least a fighting chance to do so.

Just like silent commitments and firing coaches, I am always amused about fans that think things aren't happening just because some media bobo hasn't come out and issued a press release.

These dudes might all be hired already, just because they haven't announced it doesn't mean anything.

Since the defense can't get much worse, i heard the players were calling their own plays and setting up their own formations. I for one will be interested to see how this plays out, and I think this has to be a great draw to recruits.

Any legs to this rumor??

it's been 4 days since brady hoke was introduced as head coach. This stuff doesn't happen over night. i'm sure they're considering multiple candidates for each opening. this requires interviewing each of them, and working out any other details - such as when they would be able to start, if they are under previous contracts, etc.

i'm sure they'd love to 'update' all of us on their progress, but let's be realistic. do you expect them to come out and say 'well so far we have interviewed 'X', 'Y' and 'Z'.. and then tomorrow we're going to extend an offer to 'Y'. If he doesnt accept, we'll offer the position to 'X'"... of course not. if they did come out and give us a vague 'update' on their status, we would all be complaining that we don't have enough info. So let's just sit back, relax, and let them take their time to choose the right candidate. I'm sure we'll hear something by Monday or Tuesday.

hiring a DC is a long-term decision.. yes it would suck to lose a couple recruits because we didn't have a DC within 4 days of hiring our HC, but if we rush and pick a shotty DC, then we'll be set back a lot more in the long term than losing a couple recruits.

Considering how bad our defense has been, it would probably be wise to take as much time as necessary to find an exceptional hire.  Yes, unerstandably, the sooner the better for recruiting purposes, but I would try to be at least a little patient.

People who think the delay is due to hokester lining up a big name like Randy Shannon etc. need to temper their expectations. Other than not being a "Michigan man" shannon's resume is superior to hoke's so it is hard to see him (other another big name coordinator) taking the job. DC will likely have a resume and future prospects similar to borges

Maybe Hoke and Brandon are eyeing someone who is currently in the NFL and still in the playoffs. Trogvac, Jon Hoke etc. I'm assuming none of these guys can accept another job and get on the recruiting trail with a divisional championship coming up this weekend... They might have to look elsewhere

My sources told me we were waiting for certain NFL coaches to be done with their seasons.

Hopefully Belichick is introduced as our assistant coach in charge of making all things good again.

Yeah, and look at how the Chiefs' season turned out.

Seems to me that Michigan has no interest in publicly announcing things (such as hires) that can be distractions to teams with ongoing seasons. There is an element of honor and character in that approach, you know. That "Michigan Difference" always referenced on this site.
