FLA-FSU Gives Me RichRod Warm Fuzzies
See how a freshman QB goes into the fetal position when his offensive scheme is archaic and the opposing defense is swarming. It makes me realize that Tate and Denard's flashes of success weren't just attributed to swagger, but...hey, RichRod may have some good ideas about how to utilize his talent at the position. Again, this isn't taking anything away from our QBs, just assigning proper credit.
Okay, I know: it's the kid's (Manuel's?) third start. But still, the QB has been pretty much inept in this game.

This is one of the all-time great defenses of the last 25 years.
Jevan Snead is the only person who's beaten it. And he needed an act of G-d to do it.
Not disagreeing, exactly, about Rodriguez knowing what to do with a quarterback. But at Michigan, at least, his quarterbacks have folded like jackknives against the good defenses they've played.

And none of those good defenses (PSU, Wisconsin, Ohio State), except maybe OSU's, are even vaguely in the same league as Florida's.

Uh, you didn't trip my sarcasm meter so here is the data:
Scoring defense (top 5): Florida, Alabama, Nebraska, Penn St, osu
Rushing defense: osu is #5, Florida is #7, PSU #10
Passing defense: Florida #1, osu #16, PSU #18
Total defense: Florida #2, osu #6, PSU #7
Is that your definition of not "even vaguely in the same league"?
Weird definition, unless we are again choosing to ignore the actual data.

I stands corrected.

I apologize for the hyperbole.
It won't happen again.

Do you mean only the last two years?

Suppose I do.

Don't you mean an act of, "Tebow"?

They aren't playing WMU, ND, or Eastern. Remember the fumble in our own end zone or the drive-killing picks against OSU. Still a ways to go. But at least we don't have a head coach that's 127 years old and won't let go. I feel bad for FSU's fans.

Those shovel passes to the TE were giving me a lot of warm fuzzies. Once the personnel is in place, this should work really well for RR.
November 28th, 2009 at 7:16 PM ^
how many shovel passes did we run this year to the TE, or in general?
November 28th, 2009 at 7:28 PM ^
but we should be IME.

....and anticipate great things from both him and the program in general, but I am DEFINITELY glad we did not try to run a shovel pass this year.
In a way, it's a combination of the jailbreak screen (in terms of timing) and the option (in terms of passing motion) and both of those things equaled FAIL this year for our youngsters.
I try to make it it to one game a year, and this year it was purdue, where I had the pleasure of seeing tate lateral directly to the opposition. (granted, I also got to see roundtree WRECK some db on minor's cutback TD, which was awesome.) If we had tried a shovel pass I have no doubt it would have somehow ended in every player on the opposing team scoring simultaneously.
