FL RB JoJo Kemp Offered?

Submitted by Bluestreak on

Michigan reportedly offered FL APB JoJo Kemp (I'd take him on his name alone!) in the past week. Kemp also plays OLB and looks disruptive in that position.

Size:

Kemp is 5'11", 190

Ratings:

3 stars by Rivals and 247Sports (not ranked still on Scout)

Offers:

Notable offers include USF, West Virginia, Miss State, Purdue and Minny.

Looks like the coaches are looking for at least one more RB (which makes me think Shallman might eventually move to another position)

EDIT: Mods can you confirm and delete if false. Thanks.

[ED:BISB - No. I don't have time to call JoJo today. I will, however, add a question mark to your title. If you are able to confirm, then I'll delete.]

They either don't feel too good about Isaac or Green or they think this guy is better than both. Not feeling good about Isaac and Green would be contrary to everything we've been hearing and seeeing.

Oh well, I suppose the coaches might know a little bit more than me about the team...

with the Shallman guessing. We get it, he has an abnormally large body for a RB. We all know the story, but yet the coaches insist he's there as a RB. Why speculate moreso. Leave the kid be.

STRENGTHS:This kid's balance is top notch.  He can be nudged and it doesn't affect him in the least bit.  He can make decent, but not fantastic cuts.  He's not going to be breaking anyone's ankles with what I've seen so far.  His speed is above average.  I did a quick google on what his track times are, and 2 years ago (his freshman year) he ran a 12 second 100m.  To give a comparrison, Denard hit 10.28.  Again, that was only his freshman year, he definitely could've grown since then, but I see a lot of DB's keeping up with him in his junior year highlights as well.  Vision looks ok.  Makes a lot of smart moves following blockers.

WEAKNESSES:  His tackle breaking ability is not great.  I have yet to see him churn through a weaker tackle.  If he's wrapped up he's probably going down.  He's not the biggest nor fastest running back.

OVERALL:  With his skill set, my TTB ranking would be ~63.  When he gets to whatever school he goes to, he'll work on his strength, and tackle breaking abilities with a college strength coach.  I think he could be a pleasant surprise.  I've seen a lot of tape of people ranked higher than him, and they don't look like they have as much upside.

With our offensive line recruits though, if that is taken into account, I give JoJo an 83.  The holes our OL is going to be opening up will make any running back look like a superstar.

Agree with JohnCorbin except I do see a lot of busted tackles in there.  As for the defensive speculation below, RUFKM?  This guy is a stud RB in my opinion.  I like his film a tad better than Smith's.  Great speed for his size, and excellent vision.

Just my .02, but I like his film a LOT.  Don't know much about the competition in his league though.

There are probably other reasons for offering this kid aside from just Isaac and Green's interests. His film suggests that he is insanely fast. And he is from Florida so maybe Hoke and staff want to make some connections with his high school and that area.

This had popped up on 247Sports I believe yesterday or today and one of their analysts tracked the kid down and asked him. He said he did not have a Michigan offer and was not in contact with the coaches.

If he's playing against decent competition there - and it appears that he is - that kid's pretty damn impressive.  Great change of direction, breaks tackles, breakaway speed.

Really don't know why he'd only have three stars, to be honest.

Big big big fan. Love his pad level, variety of cuts, how he sets up blocks, how he attacks the line of scrimmage and blitzers. This kid will be successful somewhere. Might as well Go Blue JoJo
