8 to you AA types is what I saw
Tennessee is not recruiting well just because they got 18 dudes
8 to you AA types is what I saw
Don't fuck with us, which one is it, 8 or 11 est?
I've seen it listed that way 4 places, including http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1050544-jordan-diamond-announcement-will-he-commit-to-michigan-or-auburn
A bleacher report link does not count. That's like me using Wikipedia as a source on a research paper in law school. It doesn't fly
If you want something more authoritative, look it up yourself, Counselor-to-be.
this actually matters
I do not follow. I see a bunch of quotes but no theory. Lets call it the Grasping at Straws Theory.
is the theory that Diamond was referrring to the (Fab) FIve when he said he would shock the world.
pessimistic here, but don't you think Diamond is a little young to be throwing around Fab Five references? The Fab Five wasn't even at full strength at UM the year he was born.
Although, I will say the 30 for 30 def. shot up their popularity recently, I just don't think that phrase is commonplace with 18 years olds. Of course, when you're 12 years old in '92 and in a basketball league, wearing your shorts half off your ass and black socks - "shock the world" is a phrase you don't soon forget.
While I don't normally chime in on recruiting speculation, I would venture a guess that the Fab 5 are still well-known & popular. If Mr. Diamond had been pointed towards Michigan history at all during his 6 or so visits to campus, I could imagine him relating to their story & becoming attached & enthusiastic about his part in sculpting the future of Michigan.
Anyway, fingers crossed!
...hometown of Juwan Howard.
i used to think i was being especially subtle when i quoted things from the pop culture of the late 70s when i was his age.
I think kids know about the Fab Five in general, but unless Howard and Diamond went to the same high school, I feel iffy about Diamond knowing the reference. Chicago is a big place and Diamond is a young guy.
Man oh man, here's to hoping, though.
No, man, I'm pretty sure he got it. We all got it- the theory was well-explained in your OP. For what it's worth, I think if he commits to M, then yes, you're right on. And if not, no, just a coincidence. It doesn't much change my opinion of the probability of him committing. Well, perhaps a tenth of a percent.
Yeah that's what I think to I have heard statements from his coach.
let's hope Hoke is smiling right now.
and more importantly, let's hope he's pointing right now.
is of the opinion that M is fading...........
Then i want a second opinion.
Also stated this...
He's going to shock the world by picking Michigan because everyone will expect him to shock the world by picking someone else, and therefor, be shocked.
I need a break.
I wish he would just announce.
...and he will...in time.
I've read on the FB group that our chances with Diamond are decreasing. One guy posted " Steve on 24/7 Blue Board, he is hearing that Michigan is fading with Diamond."
I'm assuming he means Steve Wilfong. Another guy said he read TomVH said the same thing. Not too sure what to think.
How would they know that? We're talking about the mental process of a stranger.
They meaning the Facebook posters? I assume they read the posts from Steve and Tom.
They meaning Steve and Tom? They're both recruiting guys in the Midwest, so I assume they have some sort of insight into this. I really don't know much myself, just relaying information I've read.
I suppose the obvious answer is that they talked to someone who talked to Diamond or talked to Diamond himself...It's one thing when Sam Webb says he has a gut feeling, because that means that the kid told him he is going to Michigan, but I always think it's strange in these close-call situations when people start saying that one team is fading or leading. That said, I'm trying to impose way too much rigor on this.
I think it probably is too close. I really have no idea, your guess is as good as mine which might be as good as Steve's, Tom's, and Sam's at this point. I'm just hoping he comes here. I found this, thought it might be something worth posting.
I can confirm that the latest talk has been negative regarding Diamond. I have no idea what's going on with Kozan. If Diamond was so interested in Michigan, he wouldn't have dragged his feet for this long and would already be a part of the class.
I know his coach had always wanted him to wait to commit to help draw attention to fellow players on the team. I think that's why he hadn't yet committed. As for the recent news, I'm not too sure what to make.
I've heard from quite a few sites that Diamond likely won't sign with Michigan.
As have i. I've had a bad feeling about him since day one. No doubt, great talent with great size, but he has never shown a true attraction to Michigan. I want the kid but doubt he will sign with us.
He's shown more affection toward Arkansas.
I wont both him and Kozan but jeez I ma getting worn out reading, sleeping, thinking, hearing rumors about all these kids and 2012 is over in recruiting for the most part. Honestly if he is gonna shock the world it isnt U of M i I am sorry everyone in the world who knows anything about the situation knows U of M would not even be close to a shock. So either way we find out tomorrow and I hope it is going blue.
Both been getting on my nerves lately...so far every recruit who 'has been a Mich lean' has gone somewhere else.I've learned if it takes em forever to decide they aren't coming.
I think we get neither Diamond nor Kozan and I'm okay with that. I'd rather they commit, but the buzz seems to suggest they're both going elsewhere. Hopefully it's to another conference if they don't go to Michigan.
So, what you're saying, is that he's faxing a LOI to Evanston? Bloomington? Minneapolis?
He'll be a cougar with Greenberry.
So am I the only one that thinks random Twitter postings are NOT a coded clue on a recruit's destination?
Adding Diamond would build a fortress around Shane.
He'd have all day to shred opposing secondaries.
why is everybody talking bout shane like he's going to step rite in and start. dont get me wrong. i love the kid and hope he's lights out for us. we still got great qbs in gardner and bellomy. give em some respect.
heard on twitter that he was going to commit, right up until you misspelled his name!
Isn't your brother's sister your sister? So this story is now more likely true. Since you heard it from your sister's, girlfriend's(?!?!), hairdresser.
Sounds like Mr. Diamond is a little full of himself. Evidence: his recruitment overall; having to have his own personal signing day; now this.
And he reportedly dragged out the recruiting to help draw attention to his teammates.
Every athlete signing a NLI at his school is signing tomorrow. It's for some ceremony or something.
It is his school Chicago Simeon's and he is announcing with his teammates. So you are completely off base and probably shouldn't be bad mouthing a kid that every UM fan and poster on this board REALLY wants unless you know what the hell you are talking about.
It's plain to see that he is a sports fan.
I should have considered that before blasting his uninformed post. :-)
But it's completely self-indulgent for the coach and school to have everyone announce 2 days later. Teammates announced together all over the country yesterday. But Chicago Simeon has to be a special little snowflake. They're teaching the kids the wrong message.
Tough to take the kids to task when this is what they are taught by the people who have influence in their lives.
I misread the post and thought you were referring to the "five diamonds award" given to the best insurance salesman in the movie "Cedar Rapids" solid flick
Sundance premiere at the Michigan Theater last year.
4 OL in this class is a major disappointment IMO. Hopefully we land one of these guys.
As you created a "theory" based on really not much else than something you just thought of based on board posters who probably don't know any more than you or I at this point.
is Stefon Diggs visiting or not???
So there's a chance?
I think it's bad news. The Fab Five have faded from most people's memory, and Diamond's generation is too young to remember them. It probably means that he's going to a school that he previously eliminated or that hasn't been mentioned in connection with him.
one of the many times it was on ESPN
Still kind of a stretch.
I've moved on from Diamond. If we get him great, if not, oh well.
they have this new thing called the internet, where nothing is ever forgotten. Fab Five included
1. Diamond IS a smart kid who is clever enough to reference the Fab Five and allude to the possibility of a new Fab Five (offensive linemen). In that case, he's a lock for UM.
2. Diamond IS NOT a smart kid, in which case he'll go to Auburn or somewhere else.
I don't know his background well enough to say whether he IS or IS NOT a smart kid. But his intelligence may provide a good clue as to what he'll do.
This will be over soon (though Kozan is still out there...dammit.)
One quick point...Diamond wasn't even ALIVE when Juwan made that statement...which means, I am REALLY old.
I guess we'll all know how smart he is tomorrow morning.
did diamond publicly say diiammond is slippering or are these "recruting gurus" taping in jordans thought and dreams?
Are smart phones actually this dumb, or have we been invaded by RCMB?
Damn my gut! It has been right for each of the late recruits except Grant. I hope I'm wrong but I dont' think we pull Diamond...although, if that is true, I do think we land Kozan. I'm cool with that. I wonder how many of the visits Diamond made to UM were related to seeing his buddy Bryant? I tend to agree that if he is waiting this long then maybe his heart is really somewhere else. Hope I'm wrong. I still see Ohio having a chance to add Diggs or Diamond....and that just doesn't seem fair. lol.
did diamond publicly say diiammond is slippering or are these "recruting gurus" taping in jordans thought and dreams?
Wow. Some people take recruiting WAY too seriously. You should probably keep this kind of stuff over at the Scout boards.
reassignment surgery. Now that would "shock the world".
I think he is signing with OSU.
I sure hope he wasnt referencing this video and heading to Ohio:
On a side note, Im curious to see how well recruits that sign late end up performing in their careers. Does signing late generally equate to a "Primadonna" type personality (ie T Pryor)?
I wonder if Diamond could have delayed his choice not to create drama for himself but to publicize UM's OL class. The delay would gain more press than if lumped in with all the other NSD decisions. Following Diamond's clue, the class could then possibly be labelled by the press as the new "Fab FIve".
Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but it could explain why he might choose UM despite an otherwise perplexing delay.
So all kids who are signing could get attention by signing at the same time Friday.
So, if we only can get one guy, would we be better off with the higher rated Diamond, or with Kozan who fills a position of serious need?
I don't know the answer but I'd take either one
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. "Shock the world" is not a term synonymous to the Fab Five nor is it likely that Diamond is aware of anyone in the Fab Five saying it. The kid was born after the Fab Five had splintered. He probably can't even name all five players.
He's probably seen the 30 for 30 though, it was one of the more popular ones.
However, I recall one of the recruits using this phrase many months ago, referring to a possible group of five players in the class. I have not yet found who said it, possibly because I haven't had the time to scour the net for old statements by recruits. Possibly, someone else here has a better memory than I do and can help me out with this.
I could be wrong but Jordan Payton said something like that and Zeke Pike I think said something about a "Mega Class" or something alone those lines.
but I can't recall who.
The other day mentioned this, I can't remember who but Diamond has visited many times, tight with Chris Bryant, said the right things, etc. But hasn't committed yet? Why not? I just think it would have happened already...not even thinking about him, if he comes, great, if not, oh well...
When Ali Mohammad said it after knocking out Sonny Liston more than 30 years before Juwan.....
Over this shit is nuts. It's a fucking high school kid trying to figure out where to go to college.
And some school lob lots of nookie at him.
Education? Or pussy?
Ask Yuri Wright how he feels about what's more important: Pussy or Education? His twitter seems to lean in one direction
I just thought he was hungry for some late night Asian Cuisine and wanted some cat to eat.
I cant take this anymore......
Totally dude. You are a genius.
The idea appeared on a Scout board and a moderator there helped lend it some credibility.
and you "need's" a brain...
Were your mother and father related? I'm genuinely curious, not just assuming because you're an OSU fan...
That's often how it works, sport. So, yes, is clearly the answer to my previous question.
I was simply confirming my father and uncle, like your mother and father, are in fact related.
I do believe he also used this phrase in their (UM) run to the National Championship.
I have my own theory* based on the early momentum that seemed to fade through the process. Hoke has a really good idea of the kinds of kids he wants, he isn't going to indulge them, be flashy or play some flirtatious game. It resonates quickly and deeply with those kids who have their heads screwed into the same socket as the coach. Either the light goes on or it doesn't and those kids who drag it out still trying collect attention on various social media sites just ain't wired the same way as the head coach and the program.
It's possible that Diamond has known all along but extended the process for the good of his high school teammates but if I were asked to bet, I'd say Michigan won't be his choice.
*This is not necessarily applicable to future recruiting cycles.
Um, he's going to Michigan. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Diamond point at Brady Hoke at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
just accept that we have a kick ass class right now and tomorrow night will be a lesser blow. and remember to always trust the "experts" cause they are never wrong, just like with Garnett! lulz
To be correct, it was GLEN RICE who started the Shock the World phrase at Michigan basketball, not Chris Webber.
I’m also inclined to be pessimistic about Jordan Diamond joining his hometown friend Chris Bryant on UM’s Team 133; but if he really wants to "shock the world," Diamond should have three hats on the table in front of him – Army, Navy and Air Force, and then he can say he’s not going to college. He’s joining the armed services. Or put bags of food from some of the local fast-food franchises on the table in front of him and have him say, "I’m going to work at Taco Bell!"
Are high school athlete press conferences nearing their jump-the-shark point? When are high schools going to be holding press conferences for cheerleaders, marching band members, mascots, valedictorians and National Honor Society members?
"OK, Coach Corso, Samantha's narrowed her mascot choices to Sparty, Brutus, Bucky, Goldie and the empty spot, and when the music stops while she's dancing around the table, she's going to pick . . . "
"Sorry Kirk, but it looks like Susie's leaving with Desmond."
with ake bono, he going sumo u
Well if we listened to everyone else's opinions, we would have Garnett, and Grant. This stuff isnt always accurate, obviously. Also, how better to shock the world, than to put out there that Michigan has faded.
wtf is this shit?
The number of people from identified schools that Diamond is following on Twitter:
Auburn 2 (tied with several others)
distance from Jordan's home to Arkansas is more than twice the distance to AA (over ten hours)
Auburn is even further.
The only geographic competition for UM is Wisc.
Diamond's friend and current UM FB team member--Chis Bryant--reported on twitter that he will be attending Diamond's announcement. Would he travel all the way from AA to Chicago to attend a disappointing announcement?
Also, note what Diamond said AFTER his positive comments about an Arkansas visit. which made many think he would commit there Diamond subsequently had a visit with Hoke and other UM coaches. Here is what he said:
[The in-home with the Michigan coaches on Tuesday] was cool. It was three of them... Coach Hoke, Coach Funk, and Coach Hecklinski. Everything went well. We talked Michigan football, but [the part I liked most] was just the fact that they came down to the [house]. Coach Hoke came down and showed me some love. That is really important. He came down and we had a good conversation, we bonded, and we got a chance to know each other better. We took a step forward.
We all know its wron now
