Fitzgerald Toussaint arrested for drunk driving [EDIT: Fitz suspended indefinitely by Hoke]
What's with athletes these days?
Its not athletes these days, it happened back in the day too. It just got handled in house most of the time and never made it to the news like it does today.
The cop was probably a Sparty.
I don't care if he was a Buckeye...He is a police officer doing his job. I don't want them to let our athletes go, especially if they are deserving of something as bad as a DUI
Good thing I wasn't joking.
I understand it has happened forever. Hell, I did some stupid shit when I was younger. But given the circumstances, and how publicized the punishments are these days, you would think some of these guys would be MORE careful.
Fitz seeing a guy like Stonum go from being the #1 or 2 guy to sitting out a year and transfering should make him think twice about driving under the influence. I'm okay with players drinking, even underage, just don't be stupid about it. And don't get caught. Kids will be kids, but these guys gotta start thinking about their future.
caused. A 20% reduction in the definition of DWI is significant, IMO.
You would think all these superstar athletes would have a friend willing to drive them home....or atleast not let them get in a car. This is getting rediculous.
God damn it Fitz.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
beating Alabama just became a lot harder.
Here comes Thomas Rawls.
of Hoke. Let's forget about football for a second. I hope Fitz gets help NOW before it becomes a problem. Let's just hope it was a big mistake and he learns from it.
I say suspend him until the courts determine he does not have a problem, then bring him back on probation. If he does have a problem, no football until he gets all the help he needs.
My 9-3 record prediction just got tougher.
I bet this means Hello Vincent Smith - UM's starting RB for the Alabama game....
Thought so too but I think given the glare of such a huge game they'll open with a Senior's surer hands. Wouldn't be surprised if they go with Rawls though.
You would have thought Stonum's ordeal would have sent a message to the team. But thus is the life of a 21 year old.
Well shit.
Goddamnitalltohell
What's with these athletes and getting arrested all the time? Is it really THAT HARD to just live life and not get arrested?
Just fucking great. What a great birthday present for me...Rawls you better be ready
.08 - christ, he just made it.
I thought the article just says it was over .08 without giving a specific number.
You are correct. My mistake.
Not necessarily a .08 (but I guess the actual level won't really matter long term). We probably won't know the actual level until the police report gets out.
It says he blew above the legal limit of .08. Not,"He blew a .08."
I use to get drunk all the time in, I chose to walk home or call a cab. Why is it so hard for athletes to run home after getting drunk, just think of it as a work out.
Wasn't in Saline, just Saline cops in Ann Arbor as part of some joint task force.
Because there's seriously nothing to do in Saline (I'm a native).
Yeah, that is a long way but can you imagine how many steps he is going to be running in The Big House now. It would have turned out better if he took the long run while being drunk.
Matrix?
if you're going to drink and drive, do it in detroit where nobody cares.
I think he has to be suspended for at least several games now unless it turns out that the breathalyzer was wrong (how likely is that?). In any case I hope he gets his act together and never does anything like that again.
Stonum's first arrest got him a one-game suspension. That suspension was handed down summarily, before Stonum was convicted of anything, based upon Stonum's having violated team rules. Underage drinking/drinking during the season.
Toussaint is 22, and can legally drink. The team is not in season or in a workout period. He might not have violated any team rule by merely taking a drink. But as a student-athlete who has a child he fathered out of wedlock while in high school, this is a 22 year-old man who should know better. I am going to guess that a one-game suspension will be the punishment; plus something more (perhaps some sort of behind the scenes monitoring) to make sure this guy has a chance to make it to the NFL so he can support his child.
I don't think we'll see Toussaint in a Michigan uniform after this year.
I think it'll be more than one game. Hoke unfortunately has had to deal with more than his share of incidents. Thankfully, until now they were minor ones. I think he has to set an example that stuff like this won't be tolerated, and no one on the team is above the rules. Practically (cynically?) it doesn't really matter; if he misses Alabama, he might as well miss Air Force and UMass, if it means getting a point across to the rest of the team to keep their noses clean.
I'm not sure what you're replying to or refuting.
The nope was actually meant to agree with "not a smart decision". I wasn't disagreeing with your post. I should have been more clear.
My bad, I see it now.
But as a first offense it is rarely a full season suspension. I'll guess he misses weeks 1 and 2, and is back for ND.
ND is week 4.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I didn't think it was possible, to drive in downtown Ann Arbor during the Art Fair. Must be some kind of mistake. Maybe he was sliding across the hood of the car. Was the car moving?
