Fitz Toussaint signs free agent contract with Baltimore Ravens
Congrats to Fitz!
The Ravens have 7 running backs on the roster although fourth round pick Lorenzo Taliaferro was arrested for public drunkeness and destruction of property last weekend.
good for him! glad to see him getting a shot!
He is too solid to have gone without something. So happy for him!
He will not receive a signing bonus and he will still have to make the team, but should he get through training camp, his deal will be a three-year pact with the league minimum pay each season.
Fitz is a player I really always thought could make some impact at the next level. Hopefully, he does make the team and get his shot in the Pros. Good luck to him, and excellent news.
camp and gets the contract. He needs another shot, in a better o-line situation than he's had the last two seasons. I hope he gets it, and makes hay!
Another stalwart. I wish him nothing but good fortune.
Good luck to him. Hopefully he'll have a chance.
The like guys who don't hit the hole hard and go down like a house of cards.
What hole...?
I hate to say it but I think the guy was saving his talent for his pro career because he knew his situation at Michigan wasn't ideal. After that DUI, playing along big play Denard, a mediocre O-line then a terrible line this year along with recovering from a broken leg, it was too much. If any of you remember some of the stuff he did as a sophmore and here and there in the last two years, you'll know that this dude has the moves and a serious case of the quicks. Not to mention was a sprinter in high school. I think we'll see a better pro than college player in him. He was compared to Barry Sanders a few times. Not many get that.
I wish Fitz nothing but the best...but to make it as a RB in the NFL he will need to learn how to pass protect. He REALLY struggled in pass protection at Michigan, but hopefully we can just blame that all on Borges. :) ...and not the fact that he often got ran over in pass pro, or just flat out whiffed on multiple guys.
Hopefully he makes the team and can make a career out of the NFL...even if it's just in a backup role or 3rd down back.
Hope you do well! Go Blue.
I always wondered what he would have looked like the past couple of seasons if he remained healthy and had a decent line.
I never thought Fitz was 100% last season after coming back from that tough leg injury.
2011 Fitz had an NFL future...
I agree and also I feel he never trusted the O-line (and rightfully so) the last couple years even before the leg injury as he got to dancing in the backfield his JR year. Either that or he was looking to hit the home run every play.
is a practice squad NFL back at worst. If this were 1994, his 2011 self would be a 5th round pick at worst. Kid can play but make no mistake in that he got the "UM bump" here. Oz's team but this was very likely them needing a HB, many being seen equally and Newsome/John going with the UM guy. No different than Kelly liking P12 kids, Jim liking B1G kids, etc. Many are chosen (very likely) due to where he played. Yet, a healthy Fitz with an average OL/other weapon is backup NFL caliber at least.
He may have to "fight it out" with Ray Rice for a roster spot
what you did there.
I knew that Taliaferro was trouble.
