First to worst in BIG football
Since MSU is on the verge of going from 1st to worst in successive seasons in the BIG this season with their game against Rutgers this weekend, I researched to see if it had ever been done before.
Only once ............. by our beloved wolverines.
1st to worst: Michigan 1933 / 1934 under Coach Harry Kipke.
Conversely, going worst to first has also only occurred once.
Worst to 1st: Minnesota 1959 /1960 under Coach Murray Warmath.

Would be nice to get that monkey off our back.

MSU is not losing to Rutgers
MSU is bad, but there is a difference between bad and Rutgers bad.

Welllllll.. You just never know.

Yeah, that seems to be excessive confidence in Sparty. They look epically bad. Of course we got their very best game, but still. I think Dantonio has lost this particular team.
Oh, and there are folks on RCMB theorizing that he has a medical problem, like Alzheimer's or dementia or something. No, I am not kidding...

And they also said Harbaugh is probably already looking for his next job.

Yeah, he was looking for his next job the day before he signed his contract with Michigan. Also, he's overrated anyway.

Ok, I'm in. What are the stakes?

I don't know. One of their fans told me last week that Rutgers would drop 50 on his beloved Spartans.

George Harrison is still alive... and is a Rutgers fan!
November 6th, 2016 at 3:33 PM ^
but I guarantee Rutgers is more mentally prepared/fired up for this game. MSU is reeling, and Ash will be able to sell "results" to his team if they win this game. It makes my little Grinch heart grow two sizes to be able to genuinely post this sentiment.
November 6th, 2016 at 4:40 PM ^
It's part of Ash's plan to cover up his past mistakes. "Wait, did you think I was trash talking Michigan? No, they're great--you're confused, I love Harbaugh. I was talking about Michigan State. See? We beat them!"
November 6th, 2016 at 4:51 PM ^
I wonder if State has already mailed it in, and Rutgers may have the mental advantage here. I was surprised to see that out of their 7 losses, State was favored in 6 of those games. Either way, it's an interesting SITUATION.

I watched Rutgers vs. Indiana on and off.
Its absolutely possible that Rutgers beats MSU.
Unlikely, but possible.
November 6th, 2016 at 3:59 PM ^
After this game we are going to be talking about bad and MSU bad.
November 6th, 2016 at 4:05 PM ^
I thought the exact same thing about Indiana, Maryland and Illinois and they lost to all 3 of those teams. They may beat Rutgers but it will be a dogfight.

Wow - a canine choke-out
November 6th, 2016 at 4:11 PM ^
Rutgers had a chance to win last season, and I'd say the dropoff for MSU was greater.
November 6th, 2016 at 6:08 PM ^
Rutgers hasn't looked nearly as bad since they started playing the guy from Warren De la Salle at QB. They nearly knocked off Minnesota (in Minneapolis!) and IU.
November 6th, 2016 at 6:41 PM ^
Really? They lost to Illinois with Jeff George jimmy john jr. and there offense has stunk. Sure Illinois beat Rutgers but they've really improved since we played them

I wish I shared your optimism Salvatore

SPARTY NO! vs FULL RUTGERZ
This could get very interesting.

Losing is contagious. At this point I could see Staee losing the Battle for The Situation. Although, maybe Rutgers just wants to be rid of him so they may just let Staee win.

This should be a rivalry where the loser gets the "trophy."

This really says it all, doesn't it? I've thoroughly enjoyed watching all the Sparty pain that 2016 hath wrought.

Frankly, I hope they never win another game. I'm tired of all the Spartan license plates. I'm tired of ugly green shirts everywhere. I'm tired of the fan base that has become everything they, for years, professed to hate. Crawl back to the abyss from whence ye came, Sparty. See you again in 40 years.

I hope they lose to Rutgers and then through some Dantonio Magic, beat OSU. That would be my favorite thing.
