With Senior Day fast approaching, let me be among the first to thank Denard for going Blue four years ago. He has represented the University well - I'm proud of him and what he has accomplished.
I'm just SO glad THIS didn't happen.

First of many to point out your lack of a good title.
Am I the first of many to point out your capitalization FAIL?
Failure. You mean failure.
said my ex...
please have mercy
...shows no mercy.
that 80% of your posts are negative and/or dickish.
You're right about the title of course, but ^^^ is still true.
Edit: This is in reply to David from Wyoming.
Yeah, that is my job here.
then WELL DONE sir!
competes for worst poster on this board, and is a disgrace to his avatar.
I love you to buddy! Have a great day!
You might make a few more friends if you stopped being an ass most of the time. But hey, thats just like.. you know, my opinion man.
once you get to know him
steals lunch money from kids on their way to school. And he doesn't even feel bad about it, either.
Whatever, I was hungry that day. And that kid was sneaking into the AOSS building to use the bathroom there.
why are so many people on this board jerks?
its almost easier to discuss UM sports with a smaller group via text, Facebook, or twitter. this board is just full of people id rather avoid
Well don't let the door hit you on your way out.
mods cant even stand to moderate these crowds. mlive is now an adjective, but like you implied theres no good reason to announce youre leaving on the internet or try and tame the crowds
I'm with Rye. If you don't like it, leave.
What a boring place this world (and this blog) would be if everyone was all sunshine and chocolate covered rainbows and there was not a single dissenting soul who wasn't always ready for a rousing rendetion of Kumbayah while holding hands?
Not everyone needs to be jerks all the time (I'll admit, I have plenty of perceived douchebag moments), but it's no fun without at least a little sprinkle of negativity in each thread.
I mostly agree, but one can dissent without being an ass. Well, you ought to be able to in theory.
...touchdowns
Look how full that student section is. First game after a 3-8 season too.
It is easy to see that he loves Michigan and that makes it that much easier for me to say that he will go down as one of my favorite players of all time.
with so much pressure and in the spotlight truly enjoy the ride! Glad he was here!
with so much pressure and in the spotlight truly enjoy the ride! Glad he was here!
He will go down not only as one of the greatest Michigan players of all time, but by far one of the most loved.
but this isn't true. Denard's got a lot of haters amongst our fanbase. To watch so many Michigan fans turn on him at the slightest instance of a mistake these past 3 years has been eye-opening. I think many of us here are living in a bubble if we think he's any where near as loved as even Mike Martin or Brandon Graham.
I think you be crazy.
Sadly, he's not. I know at least a few Michigan fans who can't wait for Denard to graduate so we can return to a more traditional passing QB. Shockingly, these are not crotchety old "get off my lawn" folks, but younger fans.
I'm going to stand by my man.
Wendyk5, are you really Tammy Wynette?
Crap, I've been outed.
You are correct. Just read any Denard or Michigan article on the Detroit newspaper sites and you will see not just a dislike but utter contempt for Denard Robinson. I had a guy near me yell "I'm glad you're hurt and a senior!" when he was shown on the scoreboard and he was agreed with by the guy in front of him. I almost said something but whats the point with morons like that. They'll never get it and really, who cares what he thinks other than people of like mind.
There is a pretty nasty group of Denard haters. In fact John U. Bacon wrote an article in September about how more Michigan fans should appreciate Denard and Terry Foster (yes, I know) wrote a similar one on November 6th. Why? Because there are too many people that are haters and want everything both ways.
When he is gone I hope the school and the program will have another young man with the respect, class and drive the Denard Robinson has shown. Maybe I am a prisoner of the moment but I can't think of a better face (or hair) the Michigan football program in a long time than Denard Robinson.

is such a stoopid catch-all word, for anyone who doesn't exactly subscribe to the group-think 'round these parts. I get your point that there are true "haters" - I've read and heard some unbelievably idiotic remarks - those not of your average, or even below average poster here. And some sickeningly racist stuff, too. They're not Michigan fans.
It IS completely possible to appreciate Denard's talent, personality, dedication to the university and team, statistics, speed, amazing cutback skills and so on while still wanting a different starting quarterback (and having that reinforced and amplified in the last 2 weeks).
Bama and ND were enough for me, and a host of others, who thought those bad decisions should have been worked through last year. The Bama game sucked, but at the time thought he was more subdued by scheme more than his own failings. ND told the tale, though.
I DO want to see him come back and break Pat White's record, as an ultimate affirmation of his ability and reward for all the excitement he's provided.
But at the same time, I'm more excited about DG running the show next year, with a highly touted understudy.
you and your group of imaginary friends?
Even if Denard does have haters, everyone does - I would guess even Tebow did while he was at UF (and he certainly does now in NYC). You and your posse may not like some of what Denard does on the field, but he is surely one of the most athletic and charismatic players to ever wear the winged helmet, and will certainly go down as one of the most revered.
Gee, thanks dude. Are you replying to me, by the way? If you are, you need to go take your reading comprehension skills and shoot them in a back-alley somewhere because there is absolutey no way you could have derived from my post that I don't appreciate Denard. I love Denard and seeing as I witnessed his epic first play in freshman year, he is my favorite player of all time.
And even if I didn't there's no reason to be an asshat without any provocation, some people on this blog need to chill the fuck out.
I completely understand the rational fans who love Denard but are also very much looking forward to the future. It doesn't necessarily mean they're sick of him as a QB, but that we're recruiting players for a "typical" Michigan system and these fans are more excited for the "typical" Michigan QB, even if it means losing Denard.
I must say I am looking forward to the future, but I wish there was a way Denard could be involved in it so he would have a chance to live out the legacy he deserves, with at least one Big Ten title and national title aspirations with him at the helm.
What I don't understand is how so many idiotic fans routinely say "Denard has got to go!" and things of the sort. The guy single-handedly has won us at least five games (2010 UMass, 2010 ND, 2010 Indiana, 2011 ND, arguably 2011 OSU) and was the lone bright spot during what was an otherwise terrible three years. He makes plenty of mistakes, but he's also masked a lot of team-wide deficiencies throughout his career. Without him we don't get win 900 until 2013.
I've never been pleased by fellow students showing up late, but I tend to avoid seeing it by not looking at the rows behind me. But, if Denard doesn't play and there's a good amount of empty seats when he's announced for Senior Day, I will be pretty pissed. Pissed, that is, after I get all of the dust out of my eye.
I'm not MGoWeather but I think I saw somewhere that the below is forecasted to hit Ann Arbor on Saturday afternoon. Shield your eyes, everyone!
you can put Jeremy Gallon down for like 5,967 yards receiving and 162 touchdowns. He does really well when hidden from the opposition.
Coupled with lackluster match-up, almost assures that the student section will be mostly empty during the pre-game recogntion of our Seniors. It pisses me off too.
Denard Robinson definitely feels like he will have a Charles Woodson effect in the future. He will he constantly be talked about, but much like Woodson you won't see many if any players compared to him. Woodson was in a class of his own and so is Denard. Also like Woodson I can see Denard constantly giving back to the program the community and the school.
I agree and, then again, I do not. I was lucky enough to be in school with Woodson and he was definitely loved. But I don't think he was/is appreciated on the level that Denard is and will be appreciated, at least not as universally anyway. Woodson was appreciated as an amazing football player (Heisman trophy, national championship, etc.) but the appreciation for Denard seems to be exponentially greater because he stayed through the coaching change and ended up on top, smiling all the way. Maybe its just me, but that's how it feels.
That's an interesting comparison. I was in undergrad when Woodson was there too. In my mind, Woodson was actually appreciated more than Denard in terms of what he and the team were able to accomplish. But Denard seems to be appreciated more in terms of just general appreciation of his personality. Different types of people I guess.
Tough call. I was in school then too. Loved Woodson and what he did for our team. Hard to separate his accomplishments from the 1997 football team overall.... can't really. It is saying something that the teams Denard has been on have not accomplished as much, but Denard is still loved as much or more.
I can't believe it has been four years already. I am very excited about the direction Brady and his staff are taking this program but Denard is going to make me wish we could hold onto a little bit of the past every Saturday.
Leave us with a win against Ohio, please.
Thanks, Denard.
Leave us with a win against Ohio, please.
Leave us with a Rose Bowl victory.
The win against Ohio is included then.
"The report of my death was an exaggeration."
He still has 3 games left to win and amaze us. Then we can memorialize his career for years to come.
"Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated".
I'm sure my neighbors will remember these last few years "DON'T GET HURT!!! GET OUT OF BOUNDS!!!" And other obscenities during any close game.
How could my carpet forget the beer spilt on it during last years notre same game
I haven't tied my shoes on Saturdays since 2009
How will I forget
but the last few years have shown that the difference isn't nearly as great as I thought.
Ditto. If there was anything I learned during Denard's collegiate career about Michigan football it was just that which you mention. I have to say that not knowing that to be true was much more enjoyable than knowing it.
I haven't been able to help myself and I've ripped into a few people that sat around me and said some extremely stupid shit.
but we're still doing alright
Losing brings out the worst in a lot of people, and Michigan football had not undergone a bad streak like those years you are refering to in.... well...ever.
...I believe many of us will miss that smile, for it is disarming and could end wars.
That being said, the college career of one of the most electrifying and exciting players in college football history really is coming to a close and that does make me a little sad. He has been awesome to watch right from that fumbled snap and touchdown against Western Michigan, and his absence as a player and a leader on the team will most certainly be felt. It may be a long, long time before there is another Denard Robinson at Michigan, if indeed it ever happens, but there will be none quite like the one who will graduate in mere months now.
I just hope we haven't seen Denard's last collegiate game, because that would make me:
Denard is awesome.
His gushing, fawning, blathering fans?... I could do without.
I've never seen so many grown men act like teenage girls at a Justin Beiber(?) concert as when Denard gets brought up.
Get off my lawn.
why in the world are you so upset? what did denard ever do to you?
I don't think he's upset with Denard so much as with the legions of fans that are fixated on him all the time and forget about his 110 teammates.
I'm just jealous of all the attention you get for being so negative. I think I'm being overlooked and need to step up my game.
This is the kind of post that that guy up there ^^^ is not going to like, but Denard is the kind of player that makes me wish I was 10 years old again. Football and awesome football players are just that much awesomer when you're 10. I had Desmond Howard to watch at that age, so I got that going for me and can't complain, but if there's a better role model in college football for kids than Denard Robinson, than Jesus himself is playing D-III ball somewhere.
I knew Jesus in high school, but he didn't play football. He was a wrestler.
I was kind of suprised when he turned down an offer to wrestle for Iowa, and went to Notre Dame.
I appreciate the sentiment . . . but we need to thank all the seniors. A lot of them have great personal stories that people don't even know about, because they're not in the media spotlight.
If I only I could get RR to red shirt him his freshman year
Eh, he was a situational backup QB as a freshman (and appeared in all 12 games), and then started the next three years. There's not much for us to complain about there.
Now as for Gardner's (possible) burned redshirt...
And David Cone. Considering Tate Forcier did miss some playing time with injuries (e.g., against Iowa), I'm fine with Denard playing as a freshman.
This entire thread started when I found a picture of Denard wearing a Florida Gator hat to National Signing Day. Let me repeat:
DENARD WORE A FLORIDA GATOR HAT TO NATIONAL SIGNING DAY
His joke on everyone was the purpose for the whole thread until david from wyoming got all hyper-snarky and caused everyone to start bashing him (not that it's wrong or undeserved).
Sheesh!!!
If you just would have changed the title like everyone else does when they have a lacking title, we wouldn't be here.
THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS
In this instance, snark is justifiable. You thread title is awful. The fact that the conversation has drifted so far off topic is testament to that. That isn't David's fault, it's yours.
EDIT buttons are there to fix mistakes.
He became hyper snarky because this thread has a shitty, vague title.
My favortie player of all time. Thank you for staying with Michigan and honoring your commitment to the university and the team! Wish more young adults acted like Denard, Class act.
Thank You, for everything.
