First Brady Hoke.....now Greg Mattison comes to the tailgate

Submitted by mGrowOld on

You can't make this stuff up.  Last week Brady Hoke came by our new tailgate location in the Blue Lot at the end of the game and said hello.  This week no Brady but in his place Greg Mattison stopped over and spent a couple of minutes taking to our group before walking on.

Like Brady, he was all smiles, charming, funny (joked with my avatar wife about her being born a Buckeye) and waited patiently for what seemed like an eternity while I fumbled with my IPhone (I kept hitting "Photos"  instead of the "Camera" icon) so we could get the picture.  And to top it off, while I was talking to Mattison, Dave Brandon walked by!

I think we may have the coolest parking spot in the world.

So you didn't ask about Bolden vs. Demens, Morgan's head, randomness of turnovers, ND gameplan, Hoke's recent moodiness, whether or not chicken is an acceptable pizza topping?

Um....no.   I said "Great game Coach.  Thanks for coming back and taking over the Defense...we needed you."  He said "Thank you very much" and then I asked if he minded if we got a picture for my wife's website.   He said not at all and then I spent the better part of an hour (or so it seemed) trying to get the damn camera function on my new IPhone to come up while i hit the "photos" icon over and over again.

That's really nice of you to say that.  It's 100% my wife's site and she works real hard at it every day with zero compensation other than the knowledge that there are people out there that appreciate it.  Nothing makes her day more than when somebody drops her a note of encouragement so I'll pass along yours to her.

And your right - Mattison DOES make it better!

First - that Blue Lot spot must be killer.

2nd - I did not expect Mattison to be wearing a suit and carrying briefcase. I always picture coaches in sweats, and shorts with a duffle bag or khaki's and polos on game days...but ilike the banker look.

It's against the hill about 2/3 of the way to the end of the lot.  My guess is that it's far enough away from the autograph seekers and media thatt they relax a bit but close enough to their cars to feel like they can take a minute or two with people close to their age like me.

Either way I sure like it.
