For the first activity of Festivus, we will now hear the airing of the MGoGrievances.
For being cheaters!
I am so sick of people talking about Urban Meyer ... Being the head coach of the Buckeyes does not automatically equal better recruiting classes and national championships. That team is seriously flawed between talent lost, scheme transition, and sanctions.
my wife, I am flawed for the same reasons
It pisses me off when someone responds to a comment that is close to the top even though it has nothing to do with their topic, just because they think their opinion should be heard. C'MON!!!
Also, I am ready for the Feats of Strength... come at me bro!!!
How the first post got to the top even though it came 20 minutes after the next post original post down.
If you don't think we are in a heated recruiting battle because of him then you are sadly mistaken. Ohio went from barely a top 25 recruiting class to a top 5 in TWO WEEKS!! It remains to be seen whether Urb will be able to coach'em up on D without the Marvelous Mr. Mattison, but we have our hands full with recruting at the very least.
and now...YOU'RE GONNA HEAR ABOUT IT!
....when I would shout,"MOAR SAFETIES!".
of half of the threads being filled with complaints about the post! (eg, "that was posted yesterday") Not sure why so many people feel the need to correct everything, especially after it was already pointed out. What's so hard about ignoring it and moving on to the next wonderful Mgoblog thread!?
The fact that you just referenced xkcd is more than sufficient to overcome the irony is that you just complained about the fact that a lot of people are complaining on the MGoBoard. Well done, sir
It is Festivus, fergodsakes!
On that same topic, I'm sick and tired of people starting new threads on topics that have already been posted (and would be revealed in a simple MGoSearch) and then forcing the Mods to spend time deleting them.
This complaint was posted yesterday. Please read the board before you post!
Uh, excuse me, but I think it is technically written out MGoBlog, not Mgoblog. Come on, bro.
I cannot stand some of the mgoslappies on here that will defend Brian's opinion to the death. Believe or not Brian is human and makes mistakes. Have an open mind people!
What??? He is? Shoot thanks for letting me know now.
I personally abhor the practice of labeling someone who happens to agree with Brian as a closed minded slappy.
Can't go wrong in following our *FEARLESS LEADER*!!11!
I believe Dear Leader is the correct title, but you can't go wrong following him in any case.
myopic slappies that are always disagreeing with Brian. Seriously, douche bags, think for yourselves for once! Gosh!
are contrarian slappies, technically-speaking.
I hate those open minded slappies who are so obsessed with their open mindedness that they change whether they agree or disagree all the time.
I agree. For the most part I think Brian is right, but just because he says something doesn't mean it's a new commandment or something. Obviously you have to respect the guy, especially because we're on his site discussing this, but I"m not afraid to discuss with him about many things
He has a metric ton of knowledge about Michigan football. He has many valid opinions, and many smart independent thinking people agree with him on many topics.
He is also likely the most stubborn person you will ever meet. Just one time, one time I would like for him to admit he was wrong. About anything. I was wrong. I say it probably 5 times a day. Guy seems utterly incapable of saying it. Ever.
but since I'm never wrong I don't view it as a problem. Seriously, I don't. I have a t-shirt that says so.
I was wrong. I was mad when Michigan hired Brady Hoke because I though it was a capitulation, that it was Michigan returning to the things that made it such a frustrating team to root for once Lloyd Carr stopped having the best defense in the universe....
This is not the case. It turns out as I was sitting in the stands burning up inside as Rocky Harvey scatbacked Illinois to victory or Michigan punted itself into oblivion against OSU, Brady Hoke was standing on a sideline burning up inside, whether it was at Michigan Stadium or somewhere in the MAC. Hoke does not want to lead by 17. He wants to lead by 21, dammit. If anything, the playcalling this year has been too aggressive what with the constant unleashing of the dragon....
If this feels like getting back to Michigan, it's the Michigan of your dreams, the Michigan you left back in Peoria when you shipped to Saigon. You've got one good picture of her and she's that pretty every day in an ugly place.
"This Is Michigan" is about the idea, not the reality—at least not a reality from the last 20 years. So far. Days like Saturday inch us closer to the picture in our heads.
It appears I was wrong. #6 today.
Once he reaches five years of marriage, he will have no problem saying it.
...he's said it a number of times here and other spaces that he was dead wrong about Hoke, both on the chances he'd be hired, and what that hiring meant, and his capacity for coaching.
What I imagine is frustrating is he'll do this thing I think all people who are proud of their own intelligence do where if you're arguing and reach a point where you're right and he's wrong he'll immediately be like "okay, here is why I was wrong because SUPERIOR KNOWLEDGE and so I thought SUPERIOR KNOWLEDGE and that led me to SUPERIOR KNOWLEDGE RAWWRRR thus conclusion, but yeah you're right despite SUPERIOR KNOWLEDGE."
Since I'm also one of those people who probably thinks too much of his own brain I actually appreciate this -- I like to see how a problem was solved and unravel the system that led to a false answer even more than I like to see a correct conclusion. But people tell me this can be very annoying.
I get that, because I do it too, but often (especially if done repeatedly), it just comes off as trying to rationalize why you weren't really wrong as opposed to just saying "I was wrong". I've found that just saying "I was wrong" tends to go over much better with people (my wife) than trying to justify my original thoughts.
I suppose that realizing this has made going back and revisiting why it appeared to be wrong at the time of the decision a very tiresome chore.
Dude, if you're wrong that many times a day on a regular basis. Well...sucks being dumb.
Yeah, I mean if Brian was soooo smart he would bring back negbangs and posbangs. Maybe he is smart for not doing so because I would neg his ass back to the stone age. While I am at it, I want my expired points back!!!!!!!!!!! Where are they? Somebody knows and when I find them I am getting them back and finding out who really shot JFK. Something tells me there is a correlation. Who is with me?!
I think it's the bug that makes going beyond the top-10 topics difficult. You have to open them in a new tab or page rather than just clicking on the error. That makes the top-10 threads premium real estate and people don't want that space littered with already-posted topics.
That's my opinion, anyway...
There is a Google-powered "Site Search" option in the upper right corner of this page. People need to use it. Also, I think its pretty safe to assume that news that has been out for at least an hour has already been posted. If people think its truly new information, use the search function first.
It isn't only about seeing if something was already posted so you can post it - not everyone is a ravenous, competitive, have to first poster. That thinking, and the clutter that follows, is what chews up all the front page space and the space within the posts. Sometimes you just want to be able to see recent posts more than an hour or so old.
You can't search for something when you have no idea what it is.
If you're going to post "new" content, do a site search to make sure the same thread hasn't already been created. A good rule of thumb is that if its been posted within the past 6 months, don't start a new thread unless its truly new or a fresh way of looking at it.
That wasn't my point, but that's ok.
His point is that despite the fact that it's new to you, it's probably not new to most readers of the board, ergo not worthy of a spot on the front page.
If you've got information that is new to you and most of the non-mgoblog public, post it on facebook or twitter instead. The reception will likely be much warmer, and you'll still have the satisfaction of letting more people in on it.
But my point had nothing to do with posting...he's answering something I never said. I was just supporting the guy who complained there were too many posts and the link to go to page two of the board list wasn't functioning correctly. If you're going to criticize and correct at least take the time to make sure you understand what was said.
I rarely post anything so have no dog in that fight.
If you want to be an internet cop at least just make sure you know who is breaking your rules
Why not just create a permanent sticky topic at the very top that says what you just said with a title like "***READ BEFORE YOU POST***" or somesuch. Then more people would know and maybe it would cut down on the all the goddam whining about things being "already posted."
Seriously, the goddam whining is the worst. Not all of us sit by the computer 24/7 hitting refresh and reading every word on the board, so honestly "already posted" doesn't mean shit to me because maybe I missed it the first time. You know?
I try to keep that in mind, that most (?) aren't continuously on the site, day in and day out. The only time I really get annoyed is when someone posts something that was posted just a few threads earlier. Other than that, I try to just unpublish duplicates, list them in the Moderator Sticky. and move on.
And it's a very good opinion. I tried to back you up below but the on-line police mis-read (or didn't read) what I was saying and started stomping on me, which of course only further validates your point and similar ones being made by others. Welcome to the internets.
The serial down voter, whom in my conspiracy filled mind, I've determined to be just one guy. He even down voted the recent "star wars" done with all of the Michigan people as the characters. He better hope I don't see him for the feets of strength later today.
