Well seeing that losing two games in a row is reason enough to fire coaches, I wanted to be the first to start a "Fire Urban Meyer" thread. I mean seriously, he's lost two in a row...he obviously cannot coach or recruit.
But I think you ought to be banned. What have you posted for me lately?
I thought it was funny and it really puts things into perspective. This bye week couldn't have come at a better time
I completely agree with you. I would like to make the argument that job security (on our end) actually increased today.
Seriously, these arguments are absurd. How can we even compare these two situations. One has NCs to his credit and has owned the SEC. RR has taken a perennial top 2-3 team in the Big Ten to bottom feeder with no end in sight. RR has taken a proud defense and made it abysmal. Urban Meyer may be struggling, but we all know next year they are a top 5 team. Please take the homer glasses off and stop making excuses. The results are what they are, and they most certainly haven't come in a vacuum.
That would make you happy? A perennial top 2-3 Big Ten team? Hiring RR is part of a plan to move UM to a perennial NC contender.
after the RR period...YES.
I understand that there needed to be a change, but apparently it needed to be fine tuned and not deconstructed. Look at all these black marks we have accomplished. Longest bowl streak broken. Worst record in the big ten. The worst defense in school history. To come back to the question, wouldn't you?
He's lost 3 in a row.
I'm gonna start a Fire Steve in PA thread. No way someone should mess up a Fire Urban Meyer thread!
Meyer has accomplished some minor accomplishments at Florida.
RR can lose as many games as he wants and not face any pressure as soon as he makes it to multiple NC games.
have fallen. And the downtrodden (Michigan) shall rise again. I hope.
averaged 4* yards a carry today, so by your logic he also had endless 6 yard carries.
*actually 3.9, but I rounded up to make the math easier. ; )
In all fairness... Urban has as many national championship wins as Rich does home Big Ten wins.
This. OP needs to realize that people aren't calling for RR's head because he lost two straight games; it's because of the last three years.
There is no ouch involved. Somebody just forgot to point out that the guy we have has a better resume than 99% of D-1 coaches.
And RR has as many major bowl wins as LC. There is no ouch involved. Somebody just forgot to point out that the guy we have has a better resume than 99% of D-1 coaches.
.And THAT is why I'd rather have RR and a shot at a Florida-esque performance program, instead of being just a perennial Top 2 or 3 Big Ten Team.
Yup. All the folks calling for RR's head don't seem to have thought the next part through all that well. There aren't that many great coaches out there, folks. Even Harbaugh is only starting to establish a resume of the sort we're looking for (because I know someone is going to come say "Harbaugh!").
He has 1. And he's only got 77 more Big Ten wins to catch Lloyd. But only 8 to catch him in losses.
It won't happen, but it would be funny if he was canned for losing games and not, you know, for the 30+ arrests the past couple of years.
if Urban Meyer were 13-18 over the last 2+ seasons, people would be calling for his head, too. Fair comparison, though.....How many National Championships has Rich Rodriguez won again?
How long before Meyer ditches legacy QB John Brantley and gives the reins to Trey Burton? Funny how even Florida isn't immune to an occasional rebuilding year in this era. I guess they should have signed thirty players a year like Saban.
/Shit dumbass fans who want RR fired would say
you can't be a great coach without a great QB. That's why RRod is close to being a great coach again.
Yeah, It's the QB. RR has had success at every level, with multiple kids with different talents and abilities at QB. He didn't just get lucky all those times...
Now, if you want to talk about trying to decline a false start penalty, the FG not getting covered, etc., OK. But RR has been a great coach because he has developed great QBs.
That made three in a row.
it was all Tebow.
This thread got me thinking and I just googled fire rodriguez and there has been a site since he was hired here lol. Guess I missed that one.
I thought this was a pretty new concept over the last couple weeks but I guess I was wrong.
Thanks OP. Maybe, just maybe, one or two haters will see your point and settle down a little. Probably not though.
By the way, the number one team in the nation lost last night. They had a lot more talent than the other team, but lost anyway. It happens.
but no doubt, somewhere in Gainesville, someone was registering a website last night.
Also, on a more serious note, there's been a lot of griping about character issues among Meyer's players. It's going to get worse if he doesn't even win.
I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see Meyer retire for good within a couple of years. I wonder if his heart's not in it this year. This is his worst team at Florida by a significant margin. I might go even further and say that it's worse than his first Utah team.
One thing that I have learned is that coaches pick optimal times to quit coaching a team when they see a dropoff in talent. Pete Carroll at USC is a perfect example of this. When Urban Meyer suddenly "retired" last winter, I wonder if it was partially because he saw some deficiencies in the upcoming generation of players.
