Fire Rich Rod buttons

Submitted by Goblue89 on
I saw this after the Wisconsin game but forgot to post it. As I was leaving the Camp Randall I past a couple tail gating after the game. I noticed they had Fire Rich Rod buttons on and they listed a website. I just want to say if anyone on here has one of those buttons or regulary visits that website, screw you guys, I'm going home! That is all...Go Blue!

If it is a Mich fan wearing these, then that is just plain wrong. It is okay to have your opinions, but please do not wear a pin! Go Blue!

the forums on that site are just ugly: "Rich Rod needs to go. Michigan needs to get back to their roots and that is a good defense and running game. Bring back Jim Hermann as the Defensive Coach and bring back Gary Moeller has head coach." either epic level troll or incredible ignorance, i'm leaning on the latter.

to rip these buttons of the sweatervests and starter jackets of the people wearing them, I'm posting a bounty. For each button you rip off someone's shirt and can provide evidence (video, camera, DNA), I'll send you $10. I'll up that to $15 if you also dish out an uppercut, roundhouse to the temple, or dong-punch.

You toss in bail money, attorney's fees, and, if a hot chick is wearing one, extra money for court costs relating to copping a feel while ripping a button off her shirt--and checking her panties to see if there's a button down there.

You can understand how football works and want him to be fired. It may not be the opinion you want to hear, but there are plenty of people who know football who have it. I'm sick of the assumption that people who don't like RR are automatically idiots. They may not agree with you, but that doesn't make them dumb. There are plenty of absolutely moronic pro-RR people, too.

Like him or not you can't fire him now. If you do that then you risk losing recruits and you will likely have a new system all over again. Guess what that means? That means complete chaos all over again and our beloved team will be down for years to come. You can't get too fire happy. When Rich Rod gets his guys in there with some maturity under their belts this team will be hell on wheels and will dominate the Big Ten again. You have to stick by your time through the hard times to appreciate the good times. Firing him now would be a HUGE mistake.

This is more what I meant. I blame myself for wording my post terribly. What I meant by how football works is how college football works, more specifically the politics of hiring and firing coaches and how it effects everything from the current players, to recruits, to administration in the AD. Firing a coach after two years on the job, however bad those years are, means you aren't giving him a full chance.

No. Just no. They're idiots because they don't recognize the situation we're in or because they think it should've gone another way. Guess what? Rod isn't going to run a pro-style offense. He doesn't have a whole lot of use for Ryan Mallett. This is the situation we're in and given those parameters - he's doing fine. Calling for his head before he has even started to get the personnel for his system is ridiculous. A) People who don't like him all want him to be fired. B) Firing a coach who hasn't had adequate time to put together his team is stupid. A + B = C) People who don't like him are stupid.

Most true Michigan fans will support Rod for at least another 2 seasons. How can you throw in the towel on your coach and team when Rod's first true recruiting class is either freshmen or red shirt freshmen. In 2011 if we don't see improvement ( 8 or more wins)then I will worry. Realistically, given the state of the defense, next season's team will struggle to get to 6-6, but I will support them 100 percent! In five years this team should be off the charts!

Well, if we don't win 8 next year then I can understand and endorse the meme of fire RR. People won't take another year like this. Next year is his year to prove himself and if he can't he'll most likely be gone.

I got a text from a friend at the Wisc game saying it was time to fire RR, but I think that he calmed down afterwards. Making a button is taking it to a level that's unnecessary. I hope that we play well tomorrow.

Michigan "elitists" that think this program is too good to have a losing season or a coach who doesn't speak the King's English. Well, I've got news for you, Michigan is in the elite of major universities, but not for the reasons you might think. It certainly is not because the football program is "better" than the rest. It is cleaner than all others, by a mile. But better? I hate to admit it, but Michigan hasn't been the "leaders and best" for a while now. We are not ND or Nebraska, but we are also not Florida, Texas, USC or Oklahoma or even tuoos. By that I mean, these programs have been consistantly winning for the last 10 years or more. They haven't all arrived there by the "cleanest" of methods, but they are there. Michigan has not been mentioned in the "class" of Florida, USC, Texas, OSU or Oklahoma for a while. The old guard was good and consistent, but they weren't at the top either. The changes here are for the better and they are the road we have to take to get to the top. Michigan DOES do things the RIGHT way, there is no doubt in that, but the program was stuck in a rut that it needed to get out of. Unfortunately, to get out of that rut, the program had to get off the road for a bit. When this coach, our coach, the coach of Michigan gets all the players he needs and teaches them what he knows, WE WILL BE A MACHINE. That takes time. For those that want RichRod out now, you are no different than those that have helped tear down the programs at Nebraska and Notre Dame. A coaching carousel is a recipe for disaster and wallowing in mediocrity. Do you want to be MSU? If so, get the coach fired and bring in someone new. No coach worth his salt would come here knowing that if he doesn't succeed in two years, he's gone. Who wants that reputation. Let's get real for a moment, Les Miles was NEVER coming here, Brian Kelly is NEVER coming here. Bill Martin did not decide those things. They were decided by those coaches BEFORE Lloyd retired. Every successful coach running a spread offense learned it from OUR COACH! The man didn't get on a plane from WV and land in Toledo and forget everything he knows about football. Let the man get at least one class from freshmen to seniors and see what results he gets. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised. Sorry for the rant. GO BLUE and kick some buckeye ass tomorrow!

When was the last time we had a regime change that left some players feeling disgruntled? Once the allegations (sour grapes) are out there is the NCAA's responsibility to investigate them. RR can't control what ex-players allege about the program. They're obvious pissed and feel they were wronged, so they mouth off. If I say you attacked me - the police are going to investigate, but the act of investigation doesn't say anything about actual guilt or wrongdoing.

AMazinBlue

The claims of disgruntled ex-players is hardly a call for the axe. Do you know that OSU has committed over 375 NCAA violations in the football program since 2001? We're not talking about one or two, 375 in 8 years that's almost 47 violation per year! Even if they get a slight slap on the wrist (minor violation) This is still the cleanest program around.

I'm not saying I think RR should be fired. I'm merely pointing out a simple fact that our football program has been without question of impropriety since, essentially, the beginning of time. I'm not saying I think we're guilty, I'm just pointing out that there has never been a question that we did things the right way. Saying OSU has been nabbed in the past doesn't make any possible violations on our part right.

There is a reason everybody here was pissed when the Freep pieces on voluntary workouts came out. It is extremely unlikely that any violations took place or that Michigan will be found to have committed any violations by the NCAA. The poster above was merely pointing out that OSU has a long recent history of actual violations (Troy Smith admittedly accepted money from a booster, for just one example), so that even in an inverted/improbable universe where Michigan is somehow found guilty of a minor violation, they would still be running a very clean program in comparison to their rivals. I think it was meant to lend perspective, not excuse poor behavior (in the unlikely event that any occurred). Also, there was some scuttlebutt about Woodson having contact with an agent during his last year in Ann Arbor (which certainly isn't to say it actually happened), so to say there has never been even a whiff of suspicion about impropriety at Michigan is an exaggeration.
