Time to go!
September 20th, 2014 at 6:44 PM ^
I'm on board.
September 20th, 2014 at 6:44 PM ^
Why? Does he coach the team? Fire him if he doens't fire Hoke.
September 20th, 2014 at 8:26 PM ^
No he's just the guy at the helm of the ship as it sinks into mediocrity and irrelevance.
He's had two chances to get a coach in here that could return the program we all love back to a place of prominence and he has squandered them. Why on earth would we give him another go?
September 20th, 2014 at 8:30 PM ^
Uhm, he's had 1 chance to bring a coach in to Michigan. Rich Rod was Martin's hiring

Miserably
September 20th, 2014 at 6:46 PM ^
does.
September 20th, 2014 at 6:46 PM ^
Take all the numbers he took out of retirement and put them back were they belong (this would also entail retiring 21 & 2). It was just a way to make money, I don't like it any more.
September 20th, 2014 at 8:27 PM ^
Amen brother
September 20th, 2014 at 6:48 PM ^
Is this a Kickstarter? All of my moneys.
September 20th, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
It'll take a game to be below 100k to make him go. It'll be awhile since they are still rigging it.
This game and everything about it showed how little tradition is left with michigan games.
September 20th, 2014 at 8:40 PM ^
No school should have a greedy narcissist as their athletic director who spits on the devotion people have to their school.
September 20th, 2014 at 9:07 PM ^
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Lincoln Memorial, brought to you by Rotel. Abe Lincoln, in case you didn't know, was once the J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family President of the United States.
Entrance to Yellowstone? That'll be $500. Also, for your viewing pleasure, we've replaced all the bears with raccoons. And no camp seats because of terrorists or something.

Ultimately Dave Brandon is responsible for the product on and off of the field for U of M. Currently he is much more concerned with the off the field "image". This is certainly coming at the expense of the quality that is appearing on the field. I think like a lot of people he has made the mistake of not figuring out that the main product, which for Michigan is their Football team, has to be at a level that backs up any type of image that you are trying to sell, or it all comes down like a house of cards.
Dave Brandon needs to come out an commit to bringing football to a level that Michigan Fans expect, regardless of what it takes.

If we get rid of Brandon, can we also get rid of Adidas?
September 23rd, 2014 at 11:32 AM ^
Brandon botched the Hoke hiring plain and simple and he is responsible for the Michigan "product" which frankly isnt very good right now. He also has a long stnding beef with Les Miles who would come here in a heartbeat now and be a great hire.
My sugestion fire Hoke and Brnadon, bring Carr in as AD and Get either Les Miles or John Harbaugh.....either of which would come here in a second if asked I believe. Just a matter of money..you want to be on the same level as an SEC team you gotta spend on the same level as an SEC team...we all know you got the money.
September 25th, 2014 at 10:04 PM ^
Making Carr AD would guarantee Les Miles would never be offered the job. The truth is, as far as Les Miles goes, it wasn't just Brandon but also Carr himself who botched that for UofM.
Brandon needs to learn that when you are operating at this level, petty, old grudges need to be left behind. Brandon and Carr both took more comfort in behaving like 13 year old girls than in doing what was best for this program. Neither of them deserve to be at the helm.

Take for what it's worth but Craig Ross, who's about the only person to ever get Lloyd close to something like on record about all that crap, said in no uncertain terms that this is NOT true. Lloyd's influence on both coaching hires since his retirement has been extremely minimal. To the best of our knowledge, the most Carr offered was to suggest Ferentz or DeBord in 2008.
Here's how I took it: Lloyd has a personal rule against making comments or waves for coaches who come after him, but was apparently so offended by that rumor he slipped out an answer anyway.
September 26th, 2014 at 4:21 PM ^
...that Bacon's statement that it was Carr that reached out to Rodriguez isn't true?
Of course contacting RR and suggesting he toss his hat into the ring is very different from directly trying to influence the AD's choice, and maybe that's what he means by minimal influence on the hire.
September 29th, 2014 at 8:50 AM ^
Oh that was after. Long after the Les Miles ship had sailed (ha!). Lloyd told Martin in 2006 he planned to retire after the 2006 season, and Martin talked him into one more year. These conversations were happening long before the coaching search began in earnest.
I trust Bacon got that correct, so I amend my statement: Carr had no influence on Miles. Craig didn't mention the contact with RR. The greater point is Carr didn't have any agenda but to help where Michigan wanted him, and to butt out where they didn't, except when he told them his plans to retire he gave two names.
September 26th, 2014 at 12:32 PM ^
Some chatter from inside that he may gone sooner than anyone thinks. Much sooner. It's now understood that it's impossiible to hire a quality HC with him here.
September 26th, 2014 at 4:22 PM ^
I could just as easily believe all the hub bub about Miles and was it Moellers?? wife is fake as I could that it's real, but it certainly seems strange to me that Les Miles *says* he'd take the job and yet just never seems to get the final ask, while instead Michigan gives an offer first to a coach that plays a completely different kind of ball than the Big 10, and then a second try with a coach that frankly didn't have that great of a record to begin with. In the book Three and Out it says that it was Carr who called Rodriguez and offered him the job; it says or at least implies (it's been a while since I read it) that Carr did this because Miles was going to get an offer and Carr wasn't having it. Who knows, I guess. It all just seems very strange to me that a coach of Miles' stature is openly saying he wants the job, has past ties to the U, which seems to be a requirement, and instead we are plowing through coach after coach that didn't make the grade on paper before they even came here as if they were better choices. ??

Maybe the real reason is more along these lines?

September 26th, 2014 at 5:12 PM ^
Ah, maybe. And a good point regarding staffing choices in general here. That's one thing, even if the football program slid into complete obscurity, that I'd always be proud of regarding Michigan. Even when the school REALLY needs a top draft pick to help the program, it at least seems that Michigan will only compromise so much, as meatheads, even if they can play football, simply aren't allowed here.
I have no idea though if Brandon feels that way. If not, it's just another reason for me to want him gone. lol

I have pizza skills; I am good at dealing with pizza.
September 26th, 2014 at 5:29 PM ^
Brandon cannot be fired unless Schlissel has a clear replacement in place. An interim AD will NOT have the support across the university to make a decision on the football coach. "Sailing trip" and "the process" will appear professional in that scenario.
My money is on Brandon lasting the season, with Brad Bates / Warde Manuel coming in during semester break.
September 26th, 2014 at 6:04 PM ^
An interim AD will NOT have the support across the university to make a decision on the football coach.
And Brandon does?
I think you have this backwards.

Dave Brandon,
You are the worst and most souless money hungry bumbling idiot of an athletic director and you have brought shame to this program. Hoke, players... Shame on you too. I'm not one of those fans who says players shouldn't be booed. When I worked in college and made mistakes customers reamed me out and my bosses shouted at me.
I don't think living in a reality where kids are told they are stinking it up is wrong. They are young adults and they are part of the problem and I disagree telling them they are sucking it up is wrong. Anyone with eyes can see that.
Yes, it rests on Hoke and his staff, but it rests on them too. ALL OF YOU. M GO BOO. Shame on you all for this ridiculous clown show that used to be a real football team. What a disgrace all of you are. No, I have no sympathy for that criticism. It is deserved. Suck it up and face the facts. Play better or just go. Coach better or just go. Dave Brandon. Just please leave Michigan. LEAVE MICHIGAN! LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE.
God, if you're listening... MAKE DAVE BRANDON LEAVE UM.
