I joined here just to join in with my displeasure. Hoke's on the line as far as I'm concerned. I live in GA, buy season tickets and am about to stop. If I don't see Borges boxes packed at the end of the year, I'm cancelling. I'll be sure to let Brandon know that as well. I'm fully disgusted.

That's dedication. How's the drive?
November 9th, 2013 at 7:14 PM ^
630 miles from my door to my parents in Temperance. I can do it in 9 to 10 hours depending on how troublesome my 2 year old wants to be. Flight is about 4 hours total with all the security crap at the airport.

Who would you guys suggest to replace him? And could we luck out like Wisconsin did and have our O-line improve dramatically by replacing Funk?

is the only way Hoke can make up for today.
Borges needs to go further and blow out OSU offensively for me to regain some faith in him. Beause it's all gone now.
Frankly, I think 7-5 is the most realistic estimate of our final record, with 6-6 more likely than 8-5.
I don't know what to think anymore.

Serious question here....if Al got axed right now, who calls the plays? Fred Jackson? Jeff Heck? I can't in a million years envision the OC and OL coach getting axed mid-season.
I wish Scot Loefler was still a GA.
November 9th, 2013 at 7:10 PM ^
Wisconsin did actually replace their o-line after I think UCLA. The offensive line played awfully and They were quick to replace him. They played pretty well after that I think. Whether it was last year or this year I forget.
November 9th, 2013 at 7:30 PM ^
I live in Madison, so I'm acutely aware of the Wisconsin O-Line coach situation. It was an amazing turn-around the week after they fired the O-line coach.
I'm more puzzled, though, as to what the hell we would do if our OC was canned right now. Could FJax or Coach Heck call plays? The sarcastic answer is "they can't be worse than what we've recently seen", but I just don't see the OC getting fired mid-season w/o a legit back-up option.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:36 PM ^
How did Wisconsin go about hiring the new o-line guy? Was it promotion in-program or did they steal some assistant from a high level program? Is there anything that Hoke could emulate there?
November 9th, 2013 at 10:23 PM ^
They hired a grad assistant who was on staff. Gutsy, ballsy move, but turned out to be a very good one. I grabbed this quote from a Wisconsin paper's archive:
I would kill for 23 attempts and 35 yards right now!"The problems reached a breaking point in the 10-7 loss at Oregon State on Saturday, with issues in the running game and also in pass protection.
The Badgers finished with 23 rushing attempts for 35 net yards, which included three sacks of quarterback Danny O’Brien for 35 yards in losses."

I don't tihnk it was Borges' fault Dileo dropped that 4th down pass.
Is it Borges' fault for calling all those runs? Absolutely.
This team fails to execute a lot. Part of this can be on coaching, part of this is on how young mosto f the team is.
And hold on to your butts, cause next year we have 0 seniors on the OL, 1 junior (Chris Bryant).
We will have 13 seniors total on scholarship (if Hagerup is still on the team), and 17 juniors(Darboh will be a RS Soph).
We will have at least 24 true and RS Sophomores next year on scholarship.
This year we have 82 players on scholarship. 25 of them are upperclassmen.

At least I'm looking for answers. Screaming FIRE BORGES over and over while being a negative Nancy isn't gonig to solve anything
November 9th, 2013 at 7:38 PM ^
Looking for answers? There is a tumor on this team and its the OC who does not call plays that have any chance of success.
How many more times in key situations is he going to call for an off-tackle run from the I formation? That has never gained a yard yet he keeps calling it.
When your offensive line can't block, why is every pass play a deep route that requires a long time to develop?
When the defense has 8 in the box and you have a bad O-line, why do you keep trying to run into it?
Why did it take him 8 games into the season to call a screen?
If Fitz can't block and can't run, why is he in there? Damn, put a OL or a Fullback in the backfield or stop using a RB. or have him chip the rusher and go into the flat as a safety value cause keeping him in there obviously isn't working.
You want me to go on?
November 9th, 2013 at 10:10 PM ^
a tight end in the backfield. Like Butt or Paskorz. It would be super duper max protect. Gardner could be a better run threat in that situation, and you have funchess and gallon to pass to.

FWIW, Miller and Glasgow will also be Juniors next year. We will be young along the front, this won't be a problem if the guys are talented and well coached, but that's a huge question mark.

The short passing game can work just as well as a running game. Borges just refuses to stick with it. That is on Borges and his play calling. The only TD in this game for Michigan on a drive which featured a bunch of short passes.
November 9th, 2013 at 7:12 PM ^
Chris Speilman was almost shouting how to play call against the blitz and the few times UM did they were successful.
November 9th, 2013 at 7:27 PM ^
Can we get Speilman to run our offense?
I guess that would make him the anti-Boren.
November 9th, 2013 at 7:38 PM ^
Most depressing part was when Spielman flat out said "this doesn't look like a Michigan team I know." People can bash him all they want, but he knows what he's talking about. OSU's gonna beat us by 50
November 9th, 2013 at 8:13 PM ^
That was a low point for me as well. Hearing Spielman say that was like a kick in the balls...because I knew he was right.
November 9th, 2013 at 10:17 PM ^
they go for two at the end to rub it in. . . to light a fire under our ass.

I'm serious. It was Lane Kiffin's good job as offensive coordinator at USC that got him the head coaching job with the Oakland Raiders. Even if we only keep him until the end of the season, there's no doubt in my mind that he'll do a better job than Borges.

Notyhing is going to happen until the offseason. And the only way it happens is if Brandon forces it, because he is afraid that the University will lose money from donors/alumni/fans.

he's been demanding we pay more and more and haven't had a decent product in seven years.

according to Jennings (ESPN) Hoke said the play calling was fine. If that's the case, we are in for a long ride till Brandon finally fires Hoke.
