Seriously, who can defend him? Keeps calling the same plays that haven't worked all year. Our o line can't block yet he calls nothing but deep passes that require a 402 step drop. How many failed I form runs do we have to run before he abandons it? Do any of his play calls have any chance of success?

He approves everything in the game plan. Plays that will work, plays that won't he has a say in. This staff is earning some well deserved heat.

I think Brian will re-asses his opinion on Borges and his job status. Our rushing attack has moved backwards the last two games. When is the last time that happened to anyone?

Pretty sure Brian is of the belief Borges should be gone.  But he just doesn't think Hoke will pull the trigger.  But after this game, and them all but certainly losing at least two of the next three, its going to be awful hard to stick with the guy.  The offensive players have to have zero faith in the guy at this point.

Fire them now. Now, god damn it, now. Reading about this team playing for FGs in the opponent's red zone is stupefying and completely unacceptable.

If I were at the stadium I would be booing too.

In conclusion, I went 0/8 in attempting to post in the liveblog. Still a complete waste of your time if you're trying to break in.

I still think Funk deserves the benefit of the doubt.  It is not his fault Borges keeps calling runs over the weakest part of our line.  That and RB blocking has made matters worse (I don't think that is his responsibility).  Also, it seems like every 3rd down is over 8 yards, that pretty much opens the playbook for the DC to run about anything they want.

Well actually

I get not firing coaches is a good thing for continuity and everything. But if Hoke wants to keep Horges, he needs to go. Hands down. Will he? No. I don't mean this to be mean, but I think Al Borges is kind of stupid. Running out of the I-form for a loss over and over and over to run play action no one is worried about? And to do it just because you believe that that style of play is better than the style of play that actually has been working for you fore some inexplicable reason? Al Borges makes good play calls occasionally. I could do that based on my experience playing NCAA football on my xbox. He needs to do it consistently, and he does a shit shit shitttaaayyyyy job coaching Devin to be quarterback, so why is he still here. Get that fat piece of shit out of here.

Fire Borges? What about fire Mattison? Nebraska scored a game winning drive with their third string QB and backup left and right guards. The offense is ranked higher nationally than the defense. The offense is younger as well.

If you want to be hands off on the offense, that's fine...but you should have a 2nd head coach that is basically your OC.

Same with Rich Rod and defense coordinators.

Sorry but the whole staff needs to go. Hoke is just a babysitter. Mattison is slipping. Al fucking sucks. Ive never seen a worse offensive coordinator at a major program than Borges. What a piece of shit. He's terrible. This season is a waste. Im done with them. Im not wasting 3 hours of my saturday anymore. Fuck them all.

He's a true Michigan man and he understands the rich history of Michigan football. He knows how awesome is was to beat undefeated Ohio teams in 1993, 1995, and 1996 and he knows how much we would love it to happen again. He's going to unleash the dragon this year and beat them again. Genius.

Sadly, I don't see Hoke getting rid of Borges on his own. He strikes me as a guy who's level of loyalty to his staff would blind him from the situation. I think the only way it happens is if Brandon gets so much pressure from donors and alums who tell him they'll back off their donations and season tickets if he's still around, that he essentially forces Hoke's hand for him.

Still, though, I honestly would not be shocked if Hoke makes zero staff adjustments at the end of the year.

The mods need to leave this thread up and open. I doubt we'd even beat Purdue with this guy calling the plays right now.

be considered an "apologist" (though I hate the label). But even with bad execution taken into account - and there was plenty today - the play calling was an abject disaster,

I'm more than halfway on the "Fire Borges" bandwagon now.

Just horrible. Depressingly horrible.
