Finebaum: "Jim Harbaugh is the Donald Trump of CFB"

Submitted by BTB grad on

I apologize for the link from the Worldwide Leader, but the lead SEC cheerleader Paul Finebaum had an interesting take on Harbaugh ruffling feathers with the SEC, comparing the reaction of SEC coaches to Harbaugh's actions to the reactions of GOP candidates to Donald Trump. Of course he found a way to throw in some love for his beloved SEC:

"The SEC is at the vanguard of college athletics . . . The rest of the country is supposed to be reacting to the SEC, not the other way around. What has Jim Harbaugh done?"

Jim Harbaugh is the Donald Trump of #CFB

Much like Harvard is the Michigan of the east, Donald Trump is the Jim Harbaugh of presidential candidates

P.S. we saw that "no politics" line, took one look at it and crossed right on over.

That is that the sec has won and won and won and keeps winning. UM & Harbaugh on the other hand , not so much. Games that matter, not at all.
It's one thing to think your coach is great, it's another to base it on actual wins. Nobody is impressed with Michigan.
When guys like Saban look at UM they see a team they destroyed and would destroy again. They see a team that isn't even the best team in their division, let alone conference. I truly doubt that anyone outside of maybe UCF is really concerned about any top recruits in the south wanting to come to UM. Those guys want to play with the best in all of college football, and UM doesn't have the best in it's own state.

I was thinking the same thing. Being compared to Trump is not a bad thing at all. Harbaugh wants to bring value back to Michigan football and he is. Teams respect/fear him and kids want to play for him.

LOL I hardly think you can compare Harbaughs 'meritocracy" to anything Bernie Sanders is espousing. By the same token I dont see how you can compare Harbaughs calculated moves to anything a loose cannon does or says. Oy vey we have some poor choices this election cycle on either side of the aisle.

Ok, somehow saying comparing Harbaugh to Bernie Sanders doesn't work because that means no "Meritocracy" has made it through the "No Politics" gatekeeper.
So, since we've tossed that old standard for board discourse out the window, I'll just put it put there:
How is being "Too big to fail, and too connected to jail" a "Meritocracy"?
It can fairly be called an "Old Boys Network", the "Status Quo", or even "Business as Usual"...but I don't see how any definition, of whatever political stripe, could in good conscience call that a "Meritocracy"
The difference is YUGE!

Keep telling yourself there's a huge difference.. Bernie supporters can polish a turd but it's still a turd. It's like saying suicide is better than being murdered. The outcome is the same. "The goal of socialism is communism."  Lenin (Not the Beatle...for all the bern vcitims)

Insanity. Only capitalism enables people to become so comfy and fat to percieve themselves as poor victims simply cause someone else has more.
