Final Recruiting Class Predictions

Submitted by Ziff72 on

Now that we are half way thru this recruiting class, I thought it'd be interesting to look at how it might end up, here's my best guess.

1 QB-Sousa-

1 RB -D. Hart

2  WR-Conway, Jordan

5 OL-Fischer, Posada, Walsh, Miller, Hobbi?

4 DL-Beyer, Rock, Zettel, D. Cooper

2 LB-Jones, Frost

4 DB-Hollowell, Brown, Crawford, Kitchens

That's 19 scholarships I'm guessing that numbrer will be close give or take 1 or 2, spots are pretty tight I wonder if kids are starting to feel the pressure to commit or are being told subtly their spot could be missing if they wait much longer

If we want to start winning championships we need to steal some recruits from ND and OSU.  ND got 4 big time commits this weekend.  Brian Kelly is putting  together one hell of a class, if he continues this we are in for bad times to come.  Not to mention the classes tressel has put together the last couple years.

That would be a great class for being so small, but i would put Bryant in on the Oline. I still see us fighting hard to get Kris Frost, if Auburn is telling(lying) him he has a great chance at WR, we could be in trouble. And hopefully if we do land Dallas Crawford he'll be able to persuade Sammy to join the family

...(free) GBW.com article, LA CB Daren Kitchen announced that his top three are Michigan, Texas A&M, and Memphis.  The article says that he's still waiting on his written offer to follow the verbal he got from Fred Jackson.  It seems to me if he gets a committable written offer, he'll take it in a heartbeat.  OTOH, if this indicates that Michigan is slow rolling him until they hear from Showers and perhaps other DBs, he could still serve as a serviceable backup plan.

For DL, it seems we're still in the mix for MD DT Darian Cooper (Scout 4*, Rivals 5.7, 3*).  Between Knox and Cooper, who seems the better prospect and more likely to choose Michigan?

I agree with most of your list, although I'm hoping by "LBTBNL" you mean "Kris Frost."

Also, I doubt Knox will end up in this class.  On top of the fact that I'm just not a big fan, I think we need a nose tackle and none of those four DL you listed can play nose.  Knox is the closest, but not close.

and the mega Florida visit for MSU or Iowa happens I believe they will pull either Haha or Karlos Williams. I predict the Patti/Hart visit and the presentation they put on for Mr. Patti will end up paying huge dividends.
If they do land Walls (distinct possibility) I hope he can convince R. Drew to join the Maize & Blue too.

It all really depends on the start of the season.  If we can start strong, several top recruits will see us as worthwhile.  If we struggle we will have to settle for lesser players to finish the class.

My gut tells me we start 5-0 and land a couple of stars like Avery Walls and Ray Drew.

I really like how our class is shaping up. While there may not be too many immediate impact stars (Hart, Thomas, and Frost could be exceptions), this is the type of class that builds depth. Its the type of class that creates the backbone of a program. And to be honest, its the type of class we needed over the past couple seasons.

What's the word on Frost?  A while back, it seemed like he was ready to drop, but now things seemed to have cooled.

guess/wish is that our 2011 class could look like this if we get the ball rolling with some great wins.

1 QB-Sousa-

1 RB -D. Hart

2  WR-Conway, Watkins

5 OL-Fisher, Posada, Walsh, Miller

4 DL-Beyer, Rock, Zettel, Cooper

3 LB-Jones, Frost, Thomas

3 DB-Hollowell, Brown, Crawford

Mind you there will be room for gray shirting.  I read the other day not sure where but the schollys are first come first served especially for the OL prospects, sry can't remember where I read that at.  Don't  ask me to explain the gray shirt it's just my wish list.

I know he can play D line as well but I thought we have been recruiting him to play OL.

Has this changed?  Has he expressed a preference in playing on the defensive side?
