Final preseason All-CCHA team - UM has 4

Submitted by MikeCohodes on

The CCHA announced their preseason all conference team, and Michigan's got 4 honored.

Jon Merrill is 1st team, Alex Guptill & Lee Moffie got second team, and A.J. Treais got an honorable mention.

Are you happy with this?  Think anyone is shafted or overrated?

I'm kind of surprised that they made the list like this. Out of the six forward positions, five are listed at center. Guptill is the only forward on the two teams who plays on the wing.

Moffie is good enough to be 1st team, but DeKeyser deserves that spot. Everything else looks good to me.

On an unrelated note, Hammond is a monster. I saw him put on a show in Chicago a few months ago during prospects camp. BG is my sleeper pick this year.

last year. Sadly our tournament run was short lived. I'm very excited to see what Trouba will bring to the table this year. I have a good feeling about him in future years and this year. Guptill and DeGiuseppe are two of my favorite players to watch including Merrill. Very excited to see what kind of hockey team Michigan will be this year. In the CCHA in general my picks to look out for in our conference are Michigan, BG, Ferris St, ND and Miami. BG made a lot of noise in the CCHA tournament knocking off Ferris St and taking us to two OTs in the semi finals. They're lead by a very strong goalie in Andrew Hammond. Had the privilege last year of going to BGSU to watch our Wolverines win on Saturday night. I believe it was 3-1. Hammond when he has his game on is a tough goalie to beat. It will be interesting to see the transition in net for us this year with Hunwick gone.

It's nice to see 3 guys from Western on there. I have a soft spot for the non-MSU Michigan hockey teams so it's nice to see that Western has dragged themselves from the dumps they were in just 3 years ago to now being a top player in the CCHA. I hope they can sustain it
