Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!
If KU wins, I'll get 420 clams. Glad I'm rooting against Ohio this time...
Kentucky wins it..thats all that needs to be in this thread
I win my pool if osu wins tonight or if I win the tiebreaker in the final...id actually prefer osu winning and then having dreams crushed in the finals as I blow my winnings on celebratory beers
so adidas gets to change louisville's school colors and put them in orange uniforms by calling it "infrared"?
i'm glad brandon came to his senses and decided to move away from highlighter yellow sponsored by adidas...
Merging traffic into one lane.
I know the uni's look much brighter but I recently put my official M Nike basketball shorts from '97 on and couldn't believe that the maize matched that of an M football sweatshirt I bought last year. And yes my shorts are awesome.
No need to watch the pregame.
How the hell has Kentucky lost two games this season? These guys look unstoppable right now. I hope Kentucky fans enjoy this now since it will be vacated in a couple years.
If Kansas wins I should win my pool easily, so go Jayhawks.
Louisville needs to stop posting Dieng. Post Behanan he can make some shots down there. Dieng has Morgan type hands around the basket.
Siva needs to stop taking the ball to the rack. If he is going to shoot it while penetrating, he needs to shoot it in the 8 foot range to stay away from Kentucky's Bigs, sorta like Khalid El-Amin did when he scorched the unbeatable Dookies in the Finals
Louisville's center Denge has bad hands. Their point guard is just getting beat down the court every time on D. Their uniforms are a sin too. Damn you Adidad. You too Nike.
Were his fault for not handling the ball (missed dunk being one of those). But another one or two of those were very hard plays/balls to handle. Siva getting so deep in the lane and trying to dish usinga bounce pass in that traffic is VERY hard for Dieng to handle..Crouching over to catch a mini-bounce pass, standing at > 6'10 and in the middle of traffic ain't easy.
While I agree the pass attempts were terrible, Dieng still has questionable hands.
I suppose I have to agree on that sentiment!
He's a monster blocker. He has 4 blocks against KENTUCKY, enough said.
As long as OSU loses then I'm happy!
Sorry but i'm pulling for OSU. They really arent a rival in bball like MSU is (we dont fight over the same recruits for the most part) and they are representing the B1G.
Plus, I have a buddy who's in Lawrence tonight so I don't want him to have that great a night. Hoping the Jayhawks lose and it doesn't become a mass Rock-Chalk-Orgy down there tonight.
but for me it's all about the Benjamins. Well, actually one Benjamin and maybe a few Hamiltons, I'm not sure.
to the final four, very opportunistic. Behind by 7 at the half, you gotta figure the pressure they place on Kentucky will be just as bad if not worse. The Wildcats had their way early on but it's a catfight now.
Or is it a bird battle, hmmm? *places pinky to mouth*
Louisville better get a run in soon. Somehow, I don't see Kentucky collapsing down the stretch like Florida did. The Cardinals can't afford to fall too far behind.
Louisville is killing the offensive glass, but they shoot lay ups worse than Jordan Morgan, or they might be winning this game.
17 offensive rebounds is the reason they are even close.
That and the shot blocking. I don't know if I've ever seen a game with so many blocked shots on both sides.
Dieng and Davis are probably the best shot blocking match up of the year IMO. Also, have you seen a game with this many dunks? I go nuts when michigan has 2 or 3.
That unibrow is making me nauseous.
This game is eerily similar to the Iowa State Kentucky game. Iowa State came out in the second half, made a run to get close but couldn't sustain it. Hopefully Louisville can keep this one close.
A Calipari team missing a bunch of free throws with a chance to make the finals? I'm shocked.
Is full of "mini-runs". They keep this close (under 6 pts) and get to 2 minutes, it's anyone's ballgame. Louisville on the glass is a bit unexpected but when you go for shot-blocking like UK does it isn't all THAT surprising. Go Cardinals, I think.
Get the vibe that High Times is sponsoring the Final Four with all the Green on the court?!
Was that Kentucky's first 3 point basket?
Kentucky has been taking over, but now it comes down to free throws. Could get interesting.
Oh my sweet Jesus. That was a dominant ally oop by Davis. He looks scary, but man can that kid play.
For the Pistons to stop winning games.
That's all she wrote.
Why would Louisville not foul more in the last minute? Kentucky was not making most of their freebees, but Louisville let them come down and make lay ups every time. I don't get it.
I think OSU matches up with Kentucky better than Kansas, so I will be rooting for the Buckeyes in the second semifinal. Either way it will be an uphill battle. Damn, knew I should have picked Kentucky instead of Michigan to win it all.
...and the unibrow will play Monday. Anthony Davis really is a great player - it's just that some Kentucky fans have taken it a little too far.
And did Davis's parents look like they should be in college themselves?
You have to keep it slow, keep them in the half court and hope they try to shoot from the outside. Easier said than done as this seems to be a more mature and mentally tougher uk team than ive seen under calipari
(If KU wins I win the office pool)
You are the only other person I have seen that has Kansas in the final. Must be a South Bend thing.
I have two people with. Kentucky over Kansas final, and like 3 more that have Kansas winning. (Of course the first two won and is in 2nd, and the other 3 are long since gone).
Though I think I finish higher in my pool if the Buckeyes win. And can torture myself more on how I should have won. Kansas however gives me someone to root for on Monday night.
Novak mentioned for the Senior Class Award. Which goes to Hummel in his 8th senior year, so I guess he deserves it.
Pitino big fan of this Kentucky team. Wants them to win it all.
RT @KyleTucker_CJ: Pitino: "I haven’t always liked some of the Kentucky teams. I’m not going to lie to you. But I really like this team."
I hate Calipari. I've got to root for the Jayhawks now or else we'll have a "root for a meteor" game on our hands on Monday night...
Pitino is such a class act. I definitely will
continue to root for his teams down the road.
Some Big Ten AND some Jayhawk Cheer-er ons. Personally I think I'm going with the Buckeyes. It'll be wierd once again, and it won't be as dramatic of cheering on like the Sparty-Ohio matchup was, but I'll be rooting for Sullinger and Kraft. I just don't dislike those kids as I do many other Buckeye student-athletes. I won't be "cheering" them on so much that I'll be rooting for them for the sake of the Big Ten's "looking good". Essentially, another good, entertaining game is all I want.
Kraft steals souls. He must be a demon or something.
I agree that this Ohio team is actually reasonably likeable - but I can't say the same for their fans.
But I'm not sure the Final Four was the best cross promotion for Dark Shadows. Not sure there's big target audience overlap.
But the Battleship cross promotion definitely worked. I am intrigued by all of the Michael Bay style explosions and destruction.
Yes, better fit. Though a questionable movie. I don't remember aliens when I played. Liam Neeson is becoming our current Gene Hackman....will act in anything. Where are the Avengers when you need them?
First Tim Burton, and now a Battleship movie that doesn't even resemble any Battleship game I ever played. I keep thinking this is Transformers 4.
And wasn't it a little weird to hear Tracy report that Craft steals souls?
I have been wondering this for a long time. It happens immediately when I post. I know my posts aren't that amazing. I figured it was a glitch of some kind.
Yes, I heard that right as I was finishing that post. Thanks for that tid-bit Tracy Wolfson (sp?). I guess I'm rooting for the soul-stealers!?
Maybe she saw him play against Burke in the B10 Tourney. I think I lost a little bit of my soul that day.
(Just kidding. I have no soul left.)
Anyone else really annoyed with people using "THE Ohio State University?" I fucking hate that shit. I don't think I can bring myself to root for the B1G in this game.
to distinguish themselves from OHIO.
Its just their inferiority complex showing. We dont need "THE" in university of michigan, thus were just that much better than them.
"Let's look at the coaches in this one. Rick Pitino is making his sixth trip to the final four with his third different program etc. etc. etc..." And then...
No mention of Calipari. What are they going to say: this is just his second trip to the final four because the first two were vacated? He has the chance to be the first coach in history have final four appearances vacated at three different schools? Best not to bring any of that up, so they say nothing at all. He has no history.
Rock Chalk! JayHawk!!! K!!!! U!!!!!
Rock Chalk Jayhawk KU!!!!!
I hope it's a KU blowout
for Aaron Craft.
sorry but just because hes a lil white boy out there amongst men, doesnt mean those were charges. This is basketball, too many damn charges in this game already. Let them play.
Kansas really struggling so far, but still within a possession. Craft also drawing fouls left and right. Should be a good game.
I don't know how anybody can like this OSU team. Sullinger is a weasely looking fuck and don't get me started on Craft. I have never seen anybody get so many 50/50 calls based on reputation of being a great defender. He is ok, maybe even better than average, but he is not a "great" defender... at all.
I also hate Kansas though because when I have them losing they win and when I have them winning they lose. So fuck them. And I hate Calipari... Worst Final Four ever in my e-pinion.
Michigan State and Duke could be there too.
For whatever reason - and I really can't explain why - I don't hate Duke... it's weird because I really should. I hate a lot of things for no reason at all and with all the reasons in the world to hate Duke I just can't force myself to do it. I don't like Duke, but I don't hate them.
Our emotions, or whatever, work. To preface, I of course very much dislike OSU and much about it (especially sports related). But Sullinger and Craft et. al. don't irritate me that much. They don't talk smack (obnoxiously, anyway), they play hard, they have respect for their opponents, etc., I could go on. I stated above already, but I just find it hard to really dislike that group of student-athletes. I do a agree a bit on Craft and some of the calls he gets, but upon replay, a lot of those calls that go his way are correct; the kid can flat out defend. Anywho, not trying to change your mind, just pointing out how different we all really are (even sharing the commonality that we're all huge Michigan fans).
Colonoscopy sweepstakes on CBS???? I'll pass
And can you win a share of the Big Ten regular season title and underachieve? The Buckeyes picked a good time to actually play at least 3 good games in a row.
My wife, who doesn't much care for college sports, just said, "I feel kind of bad saying this, but whenever I think of ohio state, I think of white trash."
I love my wife.
I want to marry Tracy Wolfson
Home girl has to get that removed
Kansas is in deep doo-doo
Thomas Robinson doesn't realize he is the best player on the court. He needs to dominate Sullinger and the Buckeyes. Robinson looks like a young Karl Malone and he is playing tenative, just like Karl Malone did when Karl Malone was in the NCAA tourney with La. Tech. Malone went up against Waymon Tisdale and didn't dominate like he would a few years later in the NBA
What a tale of two halves. I can't believe this game is tied.
There are riots in Lexington. When did Sparty make the way down south?
Seriously though, they're rioting after a win
Has a guy in a Michigan Uniform on the phone screen.
The Buckeye cheerleaders trying to pretend to show some "cheer" with smiles through gritted teeth made my night.
Anybody see that O How I Hate Ohio State sign? Half of me is pissed that they stole it. Half of me is happy that we're not alone.
Wow, it's not often you see a phantom travel call. That looked like a perfectly legal jump to me.
That was amazing, and not in a good way. That referee was on the other side of the hoop. And looking through traffic, no less.
Oh tears of unfathomable sadness, you are delicious.
Matta, great coaching there.
Kansas is going to get rolled Monday.
someone please gif the crying osu girl
And the DB in the striped sleeves with armpit hair, with his hands over his head.
How is this already on the internet?! As soon as I saw it on TV I couldn't wait for it to make its way on here.
Any wizards out there combine these 2?
Sparty, No!!! Er, I mean Brutus, No!!!
I don't want to hear a fucking word out of Buckeye Fan. We learned about that rule in junior high.
got a little too crafty there
i want my Matta wawawahhhh!
Wow, there were actually 2 teams playing tonight. I wouldn't have known it listening to Clark Kellogg.
The tougher team won.
he was pretty bad
Already claiming they got cheated out of the win by the refs.
They shouldn't forget the gift they got on the "travel" with 25 seconds left, which wiped out a Kansas basket that would have iced the game.
Never mind the fact that they were trailing at the time this happened.
Let's face it. The last 30 seconds or so were an absolute gong show. Between the one step travel and the Kansas player trying a bounce pass that almost gave someone in the 2nd row a black eye, to Craft forgetting the snap count.
What's the actual rule on lane violations by the shooter? I know that you can't step over the line until the ball hits the rim. However, the few times I have run it slow motion, he was moving across the line but his foot didn't actually step past the line until it had in fact hit the rim. Is it illegal for your body to cross the line before it hits the rim or is it when you make contact with the floor or line? Just looking for some clarification on the actual rule
"The free-thrower shall not break the vertical plane of the free-throw line with either foot until the ball strikes the ring, flange or backboard."
Clearly a violation--even though his foot had not hit the court, it had crossed the free-throw line well before the ball hit the rim.
I had seen another rule 9 that said something about it being the foot touching the ground but this clears it up for me. Although he was called for a violation I'm completely fine with that play in that situation. I mean comeon, OSU isn't going to outrebound Kansas on that play anyways, they were being pawned on the boards. As much as I despise Aaron Craft, it was pretty intuitive actually, he just jumped the gun. The right team won tonight, Sullinger gave up late and just looked like he was pouting for the last 5 minutes of the game. Again thanks for the info, much appreciated.
it's the wilt chamberlain rule. he was such a bad free throw shooter he used to take running jumps and lay the ball in on free throws. could be an urban legend though.
"Ohio State: One National Championship appearence in 11 Final Fours."
BTW, Michigan: Five National Championship appearences in 6 Final Fours.
i thought they went to back-to-back championship games in the early 60s, winning one when knight was a player. i could be wrong though.
No, you are correct. I think CBS screwed up the stat. i just liked what it said.
Are you sure it wasn't "1 national championship"? That would be correct.
Maybe. In my mind it probably said "30 straight loses in the first round of the NIT", so something may have gotten lost in the interpretation.
But he had to go in front of the camera and answer why his team wasn't ready at the end. Shame shame.
yeah exactly. you forgot about it twice. Wonder if he know Wolfson is a Michigan Grad.
Hey, where was the fat OSU super-fan?
I watched till the end just to see him cry.
There must be a wind coming from the southeast. Guard your couches!!
Oh How I Hate Ohio State! Good riddance! I was getting really sick of all the attention the were getting.
I lost my pool because of it, but still: your tears are delicious, Columbus. A collapse to remember.
