Final Four Open Thread

Not a lot of easy to root for teams, but maybe some good games. If anyone still has pool hopes, good luck, but I'm dead in the water. Thanks Kansas.

Never mind the fact that they were trailing at the time this happened.

Let's face it. The last 30 seconds or so were an absolute gong show. Between the one step travel and the Kansas player trying a bounce pass that almost gave someone in the 2nd row a black eye, to Craft forgetting the snap count.

What's the actual rule on lane violations by the shooter?  I know that you can't step over the line until the ball hits the rim.  However, the few times I have run it slow motion, he was moving across the line but his foot didn't actually step past the line until it had in fact hit the rim.  Is it illegal for your body to cross the line before it hits the rim or is it when you make contact with the floor or line?  Just looking for some clarification on the actual rule

"The free-thrower shall not break the vertical plane of the free-throw line with either foot until the ball strikes the ring, flange or backboard."

Clearly a violation--even though his foot had not hit the court, it had crossed the free-throw line well before the ball hit the rim.

I had seen another rule 9 that said something about it being the foot touching the ground but this clears it up for me.  Although he was called for a violation I'm completely fine with that play in that situation.  I mean comeon, OSU isn't going to outrebound Kansas on that play anyways, they were being pawned on the boards.  As much as I despise Aaron Craft, it was pretty intuitive actually, he just jumped the gun.  The right team won tonight, Sullinger gave up late and just looked like he was pouting for the last 5 minutes of the game.  Again thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Nice stat:

"Ohio State:  One National Championship appearence in 11 Final Fours."

BTW, Michigan:  Five National Championship appearences in 6 Final Fours.
