Damn how old is Armstead? He looks like he's about 35.
landing spot. will be interesting to see how he does.
Damn how old is Armstead? He looks like he's about 35.
that's cold-blooded, man
True_Blue tried to ruin Michigan's chances by doing something different than what was done before on this blog. Change is the enemy of streaks True_Blue!
Don't blame the man for just trying to give us somewhere to post. M shouldn't have waited so long! True_Blue I forgive you.
Just the Michigan ones. I wouldn't/won't wait till the last minute for that. Just didn't want to be hogging the boards, and when I didn't see this I threw it up. But I don't know if I'm even interested in a presumptuous scouting thread. This game will probably start off with Wichita hot, Louisville taking control, then a double digit win. I had to stop watching 2 hours of pre game when they stopped talking about Michigan. Starting to get nervous; not because we can't beat the Orangemen, but now we have something to lose, even if it's a great season either way. Watched Spartacus for the last 50 minutes of the CBS round table.
Sorry for offending you guys, I just wanted somewhere to talk and there was like 10 minutes to tip so I started one, but recognized my tardiness immediately after so...
We're just playing. Mostly.
I am getting superstitious about the Liveblog, actual Michigan thread, and snowflake thread. Not that the basketball gods really care, but I feel for the guy who screws it up.
Yeah, not serious. That said, a loss is totally your fault. You probably mixed red and yellow food coloring a lot as a kid, didn't you?!?!?!?!?!?
It is a plot to jinx us. Red and yellow makes ORANGE. I see what he was trying to do. My eyes have been opened.
That bald guy with Mom jeans looked super serious!
Why is Louisville wearing T-shirts for this game! Rabble rabble rabble... Team Kevin Ware vs. Team Cinderella. Should be interesting.
Seriously though, Rick Pitino's skin is the same color as Tim Roth's in Reservoir Dogs in the warehouse. Does he ever go outside?
Great comparison, gotta love anything Tarantino
hope to see them pull off the upset
I think Louisville is a bad match for Witchita, but Witchita is a bad match for Michigan.
Wichita doesn't look nervous.
Hopefully Kerr will dilute Clarks' ramblings
I haven't seen anything
I hope Trey gets these whistles tonight
reminds me of the 89 Seton Hall team we beat in final.Under appreciated, much better and tougher than most think.
Is it me, or is Smith getting an extra step on his drives to the basket?
taking that 'bunny hop'
but I am counting like 3-4 steps before he finishes
My father-in-law (Duke grad) would like to explain Louisville's poor play is due to the Duke curse. All teams that beat Duke lose the next game because they worked so hard against Duke. Urban legends, but I'm sure rooting for the Shockers.
I bet everyone that meets him knows within 5 minutes that he went to Duke.
yeah I'm sure that's why the Lehigh juggernaught lost next game last year
In six days.
May be over early. 8-0 WSU
I still have the feeling Louisville is going to end up winning by 10-20 but this is fun at the moment
Looking good so far. Usually takes Louisville a little time to get going though. Go Shockers!
Well, this looks a lot like last Sunday to me.
They just keep wearing those awful uniforms. Respect.
just went under, and as I was driving to the store a few minutes ago I hit their preset button and Genie in a Bottle by Christina Agulara was on, so I'm pretty sure it's at least 1999.
On the bright side, if there's actually a station that plays 90's music it should be good for some laughs. The girlfriend and I heard Macarena last night on the way to a party, so that was pretty awesome.
Guilty as charged.
Does anyone know why they are undervalued on kenpom?
60 minutes with a fresh story.....LINSANITY!!!
Syracuse better hope they aren't still calling these touch fouls for the next game. If they are Burke will have a field day.
If they called Michigan games this tight Trey would shoot 20 free throws.
Shut up Clark Kellogg, this is still a surprise.
I'm sick of Kevin Ware. Ya....I said it.
His story is Wareing me out.
I'm just sick that the story has turned to how Louisville will be overcoming some huge adversity if they win. This is the #1 team in the tourney and Ware is not the whole team.
but the team angle, c'mon, he was a bench player.
of Kevin Ware.Glad he's ok but I think CBS/Addias etc have milked the story dry.
This is why any team (WSU, 'Cuse, M) should hate the idea of playing L'ville. That guy in the corner of the floor is an emotional wild card.
Also they are the best team in the country...
The keep talking about him like he was martyred or something
I hate that pressing teams get away with constant fouling. It is like Craft and his hand checking. He does it so often they just stop calling it.
...drink everytime they mention Kevin Ware.
Or take a shot every time they show him.
I feel like this is BTN and Denard is in the crowd.
Is it me or does it seem like UL is able to bump and body all they want on D, but the Shockers get called for just looking at the UL players?
The #9 seed winning is a good story, but I guess CBS and NCAA think the Ware story has more legs.
Ok, not really.
I swear I didn't even notice I did that until after it was posted. But then I was quite proud of myself.
Louisville is getting away with everything, including two obvious travelling violations. The officials are calling this game like a Big10 game involving Indiana.
They might win this game 20+ ...when Ohio started pressing Wichita St. they almost came back from down 20.
...yours are hilarious.
Consistency, I don't mess with the juju
Darren Rovell said that one of the O'Bannon lawyers along with some other NCAA people believe Ware is now ineligbile because of the stunt Louisville pulled with the t-shirts.
Louisville must be controlling the time of possession battle because it feels like they've been on offense the whole time. The shockers are settling for poor, quick shots. Thoughts?
Is it possible to get rims that are actually regulation tightness in a final four? Each year they clang like a thunderclap on every missed basket.
Rims can varyin tightness I think. And loose rims should help shooting which we need tonight so for now I'm ok with it.
You're probably right but don't they seem extra loud during the final weekend? Maybe the way their miked?
They do seem louder than Michigan's... I'll ask someone who's there.
Lolz my grammar - extra loud< louder.
My friend says that they sound really loud in person too... Conspiracy? NCAA rims? Mark Emmert? Unfair? No!
Thanks for asking.
Probably way more microphones around them in stuff. This is the final 4...
That sound could get irritating if your team is not hitting shots. On my TV it's the loudest sound coming out my speakers.
I like my rims tight and my women loose.
(Nevermind, don't answer that)
Everything against Wichita.
Enjoying listening to Vitale and Nessler here in Canada over Kellogg and Nantz.
I guess so is getting a wisdom removed.
These teams are going to be in the quadruple bonus soon. It's a real thing... i checked.
...we're not going to start until 9:15
Read your post wrong. Nothing to see here.
Late game, watch us go into overtime....
We don't foul so this crew would be of benefit to us. Syracuse is in the Big East, meaning they're going to hack and hold all game.
It is a matter of time until Louisville opens a big lead.
A big lead in this game will be 6 pts. A real barn burner.
I just ate some of a sub. It was crazy. Half of the sub remains and will be placed in the oven in a couple of hours for some reheating. This event will be even crazier! I have done this before each of our first games of the weekend in this tournament. Knock down drag out!
Was he passing that?
How many open shots can these teams miss...
If we win tonight whatever team we play on Monday will suddenly be unable to miss from anywhere.
it's even preventing Wichita St and Louisville from making any shots. This is going to be like 20-19 at halftime
This Louisville defense is tough.
Michigan definitely has a much better offense than Wichita.
Wichita does not seem like they have a ball handler that can create.
I haven't seen much Louisville. Do they ever make a basket in their halfcourt set?
...watching all of the AD's and coaching staffs in the crowd doing absolutely nothing or showing no emotion.
So a pose a question...
Most annoying commercial of the NCAA Tournament?
Likely answer: ALL OF THEM.
...I don't understand why they can't get more money and switch these up like the Super Bowl.
Of the Bud blind date one....
What a monsterous dunk looking like GRIII.
UL wins, I get $130, they lose and I do not. Go Cardinals!
So, uh, yeah. Go Michigan!
I don't need UL to win it all, just make the championship game to get 3rd. Not that that would change my decision, but it is nice nonethless. Go Blue!
I will go see what arrow electronics is and report back. Talk amongst yourselves.
They are treating Russ Smith like Zeller.
Just beat Syracuse but anyone else watching with glee now?
I really like Michigan's chances.
This game is horrific.
This is code for "sloppy"
"Not many baskets but entertaining" sounds like something parents tell themselves when they have to watch their kids play in high school
I'm going to set the alarm for 8:45pm and go take a nap. At 8:45 this game will probably be 39-38 with 5 minutes still left on the clock. Only walk-ons will be playing for both teams because everyone else will be fouled out.
I want someone to shave Nantz's hair off his dome. I hate him.
Wow. This game is a snoozefest so far.
Also, been wanting to ask you what is going on with your channel? All the videos I loved to watch are gone.
Some company called ZFR has been blocking sports videos on YouTube, at least videos that are longer than several minutes. I don't have the heart to remove them. I just leave them up so the world knows what ZFR is doing.
Whoever that was that they just showed on the Louisville bench looks much too happy with himself for a 1 point lead
He be like Dieng.
Wheat Thins commercial was hilarious, and I hate commercials.
He looks like he's going to fall asleep.
WARE WARE WARE WARE enough already
CBS could show his injury and then put the camera on him.
"Handcock's immediate reaction was to run right over, get down on his hands and knees, and start, spreading..."
Nantz is pulling so hard for Louisville.
It's called ratings
Wichita St up 1 at half. Should be a good second half
Not sure if it's a better game than I thought it would be or worse.
For the board's information, some of the halftime stats for this rather ugly (so far) game:
|FG%||3FG%||FT%||Eff. FG%||Off. Reb. %|
Seven Louisville turnovers have definitely helped the Shockers some as well.
Clearly I don't know how to find old posts. I tried clicking on the page numbers at the bottom of the page and I tried clicking "next" and it doesn't bring up the next page of board topics. I wanted to post this in the thread about the Adidas shirts, but can't. Whoever was upset with Adidas making these got their wish, but the way it went down is completely asinine.
I had been in favor of the players lawsuit against the NCAA (O'banon) but not sure now, if they are going to pull crap like this through the lawsuit. The reasoning behind it is completely rediculous, since Adidas was going to donate any profits to the Louisville scholarship fund.
I wish they would stop playing up the whole "They're not intimidated" angle. This isn't the '80s or early '90s when top seeds were stocked with future NBA stars or college legends. This is the era when a team like George Mason, VCU, Butler, etc. does something every year. Anyone who is a 12 seed and above are relatively equal.
Unless you are MSU playing UNC or Duke.
Only 10? Mine has been in knots all week.
I'm terrified that the dome might be the best component of Cuse's defense... although we did very well in Texas so IDK....
I continue to believe Louisville would be a really good matchup for us.
I don't even care who is the better matchup. I think we can beat either of them, but I want the Ware story to die already.
Those are the two biggest stories of the final four. Ware, Ware, Ware and the Syracuse zone defense being the best in the history of basketball.
Huge surprise, Doug Gottlieb praising a Michigan opponent.
Gottlieb when he said "the world is round."
If anyone said that to me on the air like I didn't know it, I would love some professionalism.
That Charles would do the smacking in that case.
Round Mound of Rebound indeed.
Fuck Christian Laettner.
That's fine by me. We've been the underdog twice in this tournament so far and its worked out. I'd rather be the underdog. Gives a team that plays with a constant chip on its shoulder one more reason to go out and prove everyone wrong.
Jeez... Gottlieb looks like the biggest douche in the country and every time he opens his mouth he only seems to confirm it. The fact that he's a ND makes it a million times more annoying.
Looks like because he is like.
did greg gumbel just call them the wichita state "stalkers"?
i like it... and they're making louisville nervous.
the longer wichita state hangs around the pressure will build for louisville
with even more 'experts' on the panel who demonstrate to the world that they know about as much as the average folks watching at home.
I feel like the only time I ever hear about it, it's because it's scoring like 5 pts on 10% shooting in big games. But I thought he was supposed to be sweet or something
Does anyone know how that Louisville player who broke his leg is doing?
Stalk the world!
Hmm maybe Big East defense is good because their offenses suck?
if Syracuse hadn't obliterated Indiana last weekend. (Caveat: their guards height and Zeller being a mamsy-pamsy)
To be fair we played lousy the first half of our first game both weekends. A week off leads to some rust.
But this is still painful.
witchita st corn stalkers?
I know they're both here for a reason, but judging by how Wichita State and Louisville are playing, I feel comfortable with saying we could beat either of them.
Refs are calling this game relatively close. Are they the same refs for our game? Good or bad for Blue if they are hanging around?
We commit the fewest fouls in the country, so tighter officiating will almost certainly hurt our opponent more than us.
Man, I was sure wrong about louisville opening up a big lead. They look worried.
It might be that we awe feeling worried for them. They certainly haven't been behind this late in ad game since the Big East tourney. They did wind up winning that game against Syracuse though.
I think the talking heads at halftime were right. Louisville let Wichita St get comfortable at the beginning of the game and now they're in the zone. Louisvillle needed to come out and hit cinderella in the mouth but they let em build a 8-0 lead. Now look at where they are
shockers gonna shock the world??
Stalk the world! New meme.
They are shocked.
Just switched from being openly for Lville to playing the Cinderella card
They've also stopped showing Ware every two minutes. The CBS directors seem to be pushing a different storyline this half.
Maybe those of us worried about Brian jinxing us with that Louisville preview didn't understand the rules of the jinx ?
Honestly, if I didn't know the seeds or names of the teams, I'd assume Wichita was the favorite. They've looked like the better team most of the night.
I think Kerr made a good observation that UL hasn't been able to press as much because of the absence of Ware. This press defense has barely shown its head.
Shocker! Get it?
Anyone else noticing how far out Pitino walks out on the court even when there's a play in that half happening? He might get called for that later.
Tom Izzo has been doing that for over a decade now and he never gets called.
for doing that at Crisler will be a banner one for all of us.
Starting to take more of a look at Wichita St as our Monday night opponent.
I thoughts bug was on my screen. Cheers to you bug avatar man.
because (should we beat Syracuse) it reminds me too much of the hockey team's 2010 run where they were underdogs or widely picked to lose in every game..until the title game where we were finally favored and we looked like we lost a step. Would be the same setup for the basketball team. I think it has a way of taking the chip off your shoulder
I figured Duke was coming out of that region. But Duke got crushed. So yeah, Louisville deserves to be 1. They just aren't playing like it right now.
Lost before them, uhm, yeah.
And they're looking pretty good right now....
Well if anything Brian doing a preview DFAbove for Louisville may not have jinxed us, but jinxed them. Nice work
It is kind of funny to think that he wrote that piece to avoid having to write one this weekend in case we advanced.
Shockers confidence is off the charts right now.
Don't worry, buddy. No one saw it.
This game feels like it could get out of hand quickly. Louisville is throwing up ill advised threes and fouling with this much time left is a telling sign.
Being in the bonus seems to be actually hurting Wichita right now. Two de facto turnovers in a row.
Can't Turn You Loose! Go 'Merica!
I still think I'm going to watch this "Road To The Championship" ESPN 30 minute special on Michigan.
Has anyone seen it? It's been sitting on my DVR for a couple of days.
Louisville is fouling every damn possession. No flow to the game at all.
Am I crazy in thinking that we have a better matchup vs Louisville than Wichita State? Louisville seems to want to run the ball every time and we always seem to destroy teams that want to increase the # of possessions.
A swamp right now. Getting way too nervous for our game. Come on boys!!
Haven't been able to eat all day... my stomach is like a giant knot.
We're headed for a 10pm start of our game.
As annoying as the officiating can be during Big Ten games, this is even worse. Everything's a foul. This game has no rhythm.
He's anyone kept track of how many times they've shown Ware?
Not sure.. but if someone decided to take a shot every time they showed him they must be in the hospital with alcohol poisoning right now.
Wichita is shooting themselves in the foot after every Louisville basket. The longer they wait to get an inbounder behind the line, and the longer that guy takes to find and/or pick up the ball, the longer Louisville has to set up the press.
This is maddeningly simple stuff. Get your transition game going, get the ball in play, get the ball over midcourt. Come on.
The ville has woken up...
Too much celebrating from Lousiville and their fans when they are a huge favourite.
Every call against him is a crime against humanity such as the world has never seen before
Louisville got away with one there.
as much as I would like to see Michigan vs Louisville I am thinking we need this broken leg thing to end
I mean, that's their game plan. They always do that in the games I've seen. They foul right to the brink if fouling out.
Wichita is losing its composure. Louisville's press is good but WSU is making them look better than they are with some really dumb turnovers. They're also settling way too much for outside shots when UL is in the double-bonus.
OMG WARE IS STANDING UP!!!!! That means Louisville is going to win!!
Louisville just tackled the shocker player....no call and a fast break.
Was a travel!!! Missed call!
Flagrant 1? Didn't get a great look but looked like a shot to the face
The officiating in this game is a disgrace. You would think a national semifinal would have better officiating than this.
Can a player bean Pitino with the ball when he is on the court? or make a bounce pass off his head? Might help to break the press.
I always wanted to see a coach just got bowled over by a player when the coach is like 10 ft out onto the court. No one would know what to do
is available thru tune in radio on station wknw -
There's some face contact
I can't believe Wichita State is going to piss this one away because they can't figure out how to inbound a basketball without risking a turnover.
I missed much of the 2nd half...
Ugly, but exciting.
Ballsy three there by Hancock. I would hate to be him if he missed it.
If ESPN has any Civil War buffs this is the headline they will use for UL-Wichita State.
After being in the double-bonus 10 minutes, it finally occurs to the Shockers to go right at their big men in foul trouble.
This is the opposite approach Beilein took vs. KU.
We played it out and won, Wichita St. is fouling right away.
That dude looked pretty much the same age as Russ Smith
lol I thought the same thing.
and choked this away. Stop leaving Hancock wide open and figure out how to inbound a ball
If this goes to OT...I'm going to piss on your lawn tomorrow.
Haven't forgotten your premonition earlier in the thread.
So my visions aren't worth much.
Terrible jump ball call.
What a bullshit call...
#1 it was a foul.
#2 it was WAY too quick
but that seemed like an awful call. There was shared possession for a split second before Baker fully controlled
Merry early Christmas, Louisville.
The foul they just called on WSU looked like more of a jump ball than the jump ball they just called.
I said a bigger problem was the tie up when you're not close to having possession.
The possession arrow in general is idiotic. If they can throw a jump ball at the beginning of the game, they can do it at other times.
When you have a lethargic/nonexistent transition game, you're going to blow games like this. Good job, good effort, Wichita State.
The refs changed this game!
They want the ratings bonanza of Louisville-Michigan for the final. No one wants to see a defensive bog down in a rematch.
because I'd like to see us there and I doubt anyone will want to see Louisville-Syracuse part 4.
Wichita St. would've still had to make a 3, but they EARNED a chance to take that 3.
What a joke.
on that last possession. (The Shockers had one left.)
Down four, you've got to advance the ball with the clock stopped.
Dribbling the ball up court just guarantees that you'll run out the clock. Most teams seem to make this mistake.
I agree that the held ball was BS, however.
Does this not seem like the longest warm up ever?
I like the drill with the cushions.
ready for this, boy Am I
Trey just doesn't seem to be able to get his shot over them.
so apparently the site decided to post my last four post all together
I think we'll be fine if we continue to work the zone and not force shots.
thinks he is a late 1st rounf draft pick, much less a regualr NBA player, escapes me
